I listened to this last night and shared it in another thread. I laughed out loud more than a few times i can tell you. She describes it very well and you see how bizzare it must sound to someone with no JW knowledge.

To beard or not to beard...
by Saltheart Foamfollower in...that is the question our circuit overseer asked the elders.
to elaborate, the agenda for the co meeting with the elders had an item about the "beard paragraph" (sept watchtower p21 para 17) which i assumed would be an instruction to not use any with beards on the platform.
instead he genuinely wanted to know if we would recommend a brother if he had a beard but everything else was ok. he kept pressing until he got 100% saying yes - a beard isn't a problem.

It's only a friggin beard (rolls eyes) why is a meeting needed for something every first century christian had?
I take pride in that i was the first bearded man to give a talk in my congregation since 1955. The speaker didnt turn up and no one else understood the subject but yours truely.

Struggling a bit, guess it's to be expected...........
by dubstepped inthroughout this process since my wife and i disassociated just over a year ago i've been pretty positive.
focusing on my new life, new friends, having fun, and living a good life.
it's been great.

Dubstepped you are one of my fave posters and commenters. I remember when i first had doubts and written my stuggles on here while i was still in and you were there. When i was outed and asked for help you were there and when i left and went thru hell you were there. What's past is past and unfortunately we can only live for today and plan to live happy lives outside the cult. You have no idea how much you and others helped me. And im sure others would echo that statement.
I can relate to all that your saying and its absolutely normal and understandable to feel that way. I myself keep having to stop myself slipping into thoughtstopping mode. It's messed my mind up and it'll take time for us to recover.
Stay happy and stay strong.

Today I Dropped In To Field Service Meeting
by pale.emperor ini just dropped my daughter off to her mum at her parents house.
it was 12pm and i knew they meet for feild service there but my ex and i assumed they would still be out knocking on doors.
i pull up in the street and there's quite a few cars parked up and the house was backed with jdubs from my old congregation.

What they don't realise is they're making it easy for my child to see that it's an unloving organisation. When she's with me 3 days a week she's loved unconditionally and we speak to random strangers on the bus and she even got a fancy dress outfit for Halloween (she can't wait for 31st Oct). And we play learning games were she's showered with praise when she gets an answer right.
What's she gonna get with the JWs?? "Your not good enough" "must try harder" etc

So sad and my heart goes out to her and her child. I know she signed that blood card thinking it was what her God wants, but as we all know this has nothing to do with what the bible says and everything to do with control and guilt and cult indoctrination.
I don't know (or care) I'd god exsists, but if he does may he/she/they bless her soul.

I just dropped my daughter off to her mum at her parents house. It was 12pm and I knew they meet for feild service there but my ex and I assumed they would still be out knocking on doors. I pull up in the street and there's quite a few cars parked up and the house was backed with Jdubs from my old congregation. They must have all been invited back for tea and cakes etc.
Now, I'll be damned if any Jdub is gonna make me feel awkward in a free country so I get out the car. Set up the pram, put my 2yo in it and stroll up the driveway. Well, you've never see so many people exit a room so fast. My ex rushed to the door embarrassed and took the pram off me. I picked our daughter up and, like any normal father, talked about her asthma, when she last used her inhaler and what did the Dr say about her new medicine? My ex said "can u ring me later and talk then?" I said no, I'm here already. So she started talking to me about our daughters health n doc apppointents etc.
Then two elders appear behind her just watching and listening. I said hi to them both. One walked away while the other stayed. The one who walked away I could hear in another room saying to my ex father in law "he's just trying to make us feel awkward he'll be gone soon".
So I put my daughter down and she runs off to play with the JW kids. Then runs back and gives me a hug and a kiss then runs off again.
As I leave other witnesses leave and have pretend conversations with each other as they pass me. I smiled all friendly and made solid eye contact.
I couldn't help but stretch my arms, sigh and say "ooo sssshit"
i feel a lot better.

Extreme rules on Dating – is this for all congregations?
by Bonnie_Clyde injust found out that in the congregation we used to attend there are two young brothers, both are sons of elders and recently engaged to girls in neighboring congregations.
instructions are that they may not sit together at assemblies or meetings.
but get this….they can’t even ride in the same car even if their parents are also in the car.

I knew one elder that made his daughter and her boyfriend sit with an inflated balloon between them.
Needless to say she ended up quite a rebel and left "the truth" as soon as she was old enough to move out. I hear she's a pole dancer now.
