My ex is over the top "happy". Almost as if she's trying to convince me that she's "happy" and "really looking forward to the convention" even though i never asked her. It's obvious to me that she'd rather stay at home or go shopping or do something fun instead of having to attend the three day waste of time called The Convention.

What are your beliefs now, religious/non religious?
by Jules Saturn inwhat are your convictions now that you are no longer one of jehovah's witnesses?
are you a born again christian?
have you joined another denomination of christianity?

I ask these questions because of a conversation I had once with my father who said "If none of this is true, then there is no truth."
Oh my word, this is almost exactly what i used to say too!
I used to say "if the JWs are wrong, then there is no Christianity". Meaning the one true Christianity is what JWs are teaching. Everything else is wrong.
How closed minded and presumptuous of me. When i woke up i still believed in God. I decided to read the bible on its own, not the NWT, a real translation. New International Version. I spent months reading it in my spare time. I highlighted verses that i thought were inspiring in one colour and ones i didn't understand in another colour and would look into these in more detail using Bible encyclopedias. When i finished my conclusion was that the bible is a mass of contradiction. I saw Jesus as a narcissist, cult leader or conman. Absolutely no evidence outside of the bible of Jesus performing any miracle. I saw Paul as someone who took a little cult and turned it into his own bigger cult. I saw the old testament as a vicious, cruel, desert God that is actually more like a devil. I saw Satan as the more understandable character - in opposition to this cruel desert God.
Then i read The Teachings Of The Buddha. This is very interesting book. I'm not a Buddhist but i have incorporated at least half of Buddhist philosophy into my life. I studied Hinduism, Tao, Confucianism, read Nietzsche, Richard Dawkins and The Satanic Bible. The books that had the biggest effect on me was The Satanic Bible and The God Delusion. Those two really did destroy and semblance of a belief in any God and that's where i started to live without fear, regret or guilt.
I also listened/watched Tony Robbins, studied NLP, Hypnosis and listened to philosopher Alan Watts.
This is my recovery programme which i'd recommend any ex-JW to embark on. It's probably why i managed to recover from 100% militant JW to free and easy, guilt free, happy apostate within a year.
I cannot for the life of me understand why anyone would become a born again christian. To me they seem like the most deluded of all the so-called Christian religions. Love god or he'll burn you? Please. Sounds like an abusive mentally ill father to me. I say fuck him.

Lessons learned from the wife of lot drama
by purrpurr inthe video drama shown at the recent comvention was called "the wife of lot".
i noticed some stuble lessons being taught in this soap opera style video.... firstly, all the bad influence comes from women, its the wife and the mother in law whose pushing for more money and a better lifestyle.
while the men remain loyal to god, can't show the men going astray now can we?.

I found the acting quite over the top. I mean, didnt the Asian actors/actresses feel like they were being characterized? The way the mother in law calls her daughters promotion "big money job". What?

My jaw dropping OMG moment at the end of the convention
by UnshackleTheChains inyes folks.
over the past few days i can honestly say the convention was relatively quite good.
most of the talks, videos, symposiums were in line with scripture if you have faith in the bible.

"It Wouldnt Be Possible Without The Holy Spirit" - And Why Today I Learned Why That's A Load Of Crap
by pale.emperor inremember when we were jws and we'd hear from the platform, in conventions and on jw broadcasting that the things jws have achieved could only be possible with the help of the holy spirit?
yeah, well, i used to believe that when i was "in".
since leaving we all know this is bs, but today a simple, non religious, conversation lead me to see how stupid their claim is.. in my attempt to meet people and make friends i joined an international meetup group online a few months ago.

In my attempt to meet people and make friends i joined an international meetup group online a few months ago. It's made up of expats who've moved to the UK for work/study and they don't know anybody and hope to make friends. So ideal for a shunned Jehovah's Witness. Plus i love foreign languages so it's a double whammy for me. I've went along to a few meetups and met some great people from all around the world and made lots of friends. Today there was a meetup scheduled in town (it's Gay Pride weekend here in Liverpool, a major street party atmosphere), i didnt stay out long as i was with my little girl but i dropped by to say hi to my friends. There were a few new faces and i made friends with them quickly.
There were two Chinese girls there. Their English was impeccable. We got talking and it turns out they both work for the museum in China that houses and maintains the terracotta army. They were here for 6 months to improve their English (not that it needed improving in my opinion) and to assist the British Museum in some fancy-pants restorations. So, two very interesting girls regardless of their beauty (and they were beautiful).
Now, I'd heard of the Terracotta Army before, didn't really give it much thought. It's like when you hear about the pyramids of Egypt or of the Incas, you just thing "hmm, yeah, impressive". But when i asked about their work they really made me realize the scope of what this Emperor Huang did.
Try this guys:
8,000 soldiers
130 chariots
670 horses
400 acrobats
500 strongmen
140 generals
300 officials
400 magicians
All sculpted out of terracotta to the likeness of real people back in the day. And for what? So they would protect and serve the emperor in the afterlife.
Impressed? There's more! Each one was painted too. Each item of clothing, each face, each eye, every little detail.
Now, maybe it's just me, but i think that's WAY more impressive that printing magazines and books in so many languages. More impressive than a religion existing in 90% of countries and more impressive than JW Broadcasting. If the JWs can boast that their work could only be possible with the holy spirit then the holy spirit must have been active here too. Because this is something out of this world.
Actually, if you think about it, 8 million JWs and printing literature isnt so much of a big deal. Any publishing company in the world could replicate what the JWs print if they wanted to. The point is, they dont want to. It's just not profitable... unless of course you have 8 million people "honoring Jehovah with their valuable things".
Read more about it here if you want: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Terracotta_Army

Theocratic warfare. Great video
by stuckinarut2 inwe all recall the appalling example of vin toole during the australian royal commission when he was questioned about"theocratic warefare".
here is a great video that shows how the society has used, and in turn tried to lie about "theocratic warfare".

Even i'd heard about Theocratic Warfare, and i was born in 1984. When i was a JW i (im sorry to say) was all for it. I genuinely believed Satans world was out to get us.
He's a lying *******. He 100% knew what theocratic warfare was.

JW renaming things: "It's Not this, it's ....."
by Muddy Waters inthis was brought up in another thread, but i thought it should have its own thread.
feel free to add your own observations and experience.
the jws are so duplicit, and they rename things to somehow justify their own irrationalities.

I always used to make jokes to my mother, because every Dec 25th she'd invite the entire family round and we'd have a huge turkey dinner, give presents and drink all day. It wasnt Christmas, no, no... it was simply because there was lots of turkey in the shops and we might as well eat it. And everybody's off work so we may as well get together. And there's lots of great toys and gifts in the shops at the moment so we may as well do our "suprise day" today seeing as we're all together.
But it wasn't Christmas. No, no. It's "a family get-together".
I used to wind her up by clinking glasses with the person next to me and saying "mazel tov!" - it wasnt "cheers" or "drinking to the gods" it was me saying "congratulations in Hebrew".

The Witneses reckon that they are the only ones going door-to-door!
by Bungi Bill ini just had a visit from two guys who are engaged in a door-to-door campaign in the area, preaching "the gospel", and offering, to quote "the best news you are ever going to hear".
this was at 3:30 pm local time, an hour at by which all jws would have long called it a day.
while these two didn't identify themselves with any particular church group, it was quite obvious that they were neither jws or lds.

I've lived in my new house for a year, not a single JW has called on me yet. My old congregation dont know my address so that cant be the reason, and anyway i live in another territory.
It's a good thing the religion is all bullshit, otherwise i'd be toast in armageddon due to not hearing their "lifesaving message".
