  A "Three-fold cord"?

  we all know of the well used scripture that speaks of "a three-fold cord" in marriage.. sure, it is meant to indicate that any marriage that has "god" in it as the foundation of the couple's life will be successful.

  but how often have we noticed that what it really means for witnesses is that the society, or the gb has the right to be an unwelcome and nosey intruder in the lives of couples.

  every decision that family unit makes is influenced by the organisation.

  I thought this shortly after i got married and noticed how the elders would take an unwelcome interest in whatever my then-wife or i were doing.

  It's not normal. It's very much a cult giving themselves permission to override whatever it is you want to do.

  If Jesus, after examining all religions on earth, chose the Watchtower Society in 1919 and declared it clean. Then inst any "new light" since then actually... apostasy? Who are these men to refine something Jesus himself called clean?

  Help! Mike & Kim videos all being deleted by Youtube

  due to watchtower flagging the mike & kim videos on youtube for copyright, youtube is giving them 6 days before they are shutting down their entire youtube channel.

  can you help with a mass downloading program and then reuploading them on a mirror ?

  would hate to lose all those good videos!

  As i've said earlier, i cant sit through a single one of their videos. BUT they could just do their videos without including JW videos cant they? Lloyd Evans has managed to include videos and stay active citing its for the purpose of "criticism and/or parody".

  The few videos that i've done are just me talking to the camera and occasionally including book/magazine facsimiles on screen or audio recordings of talks. So far the worst i get is JWs telling me im going to die in armageddon. No Watchtower interference so far.

  Oh dear.

  Let's not look at the thing we left behind? Thankfully i never pioneered (except for the waste of time campaigns before the conventions) but the young brothers who did pioneer all worked for a JW gardener who worked them like slaves. Im sure they'll be in this meeting evaluating how their life has panned out. 25yo, minimum wage, getting barked at by a JW elder at work, slogging that ministry bag around in all weathers while your peers are going out, having fun, meeting people and enjoying their youth.

  Cant wait for this house of cards called JW.borg to collapse.

  Parents who try to make you feel guilty.

  when parents say all the things we've done for you and your not doing anything for us in return like going to meetings, witnessing, answering up etc... how do you respond to parents?.

  The first two months after I DA'd was the hardest part. I see notes on the table :

  "Do you know your mom is crying because you left?"

  "The family can no longer be happy because of what you did."

  The most heart wrenching for me was when I see my mom crying in the morning while reading the daily text. In the past, I will be with her discussing the day text...

  You are not responsible for how others react. It's the religion that has turned them into this.

  I've had this in the form of "what would your dad say?" (my dad died when i was 19).

  My reply is "my dad had no tolerance for pedophiles, child molesters or those who protect them. If he knew what i knew he'd have left too".

  So, if you could ask just on question to get them thinking or make them see that their religion is wrong what one would you use?

  Here's mine:

  Is shunning an identifying mark of Christianity? If so, who did Jesus shun?

  Is it possible that Paul started his own brand of Christianity? Different from that of say Apollos or the apostles? Because 1 Corinthians 3:4 say "For when one says, "I follow Paul," and another, "I follow Apollos," are you not mere human beings?".

  Did Moses, Elijah, Isaiah or any other prophet ever have to wait on New Light?

  Was Lot disfellowshipped for getting drunk and having sex with his daughters?

  Should he have been?

  [Regarding blood transfusions] Is a symbol of life more important that an actual life?

  How Are Ex Elders Treated In The Congregation?

  are they pretty much left alone?

  are they respected for their having been elders at one time?

  are they treated like crap?.

  Never believe any elder that tells you "it's all confidential, whatever gets said in this room is just between us". My ex-father in law was, and still is, an elder. I knew ALL the gossip and judicial committee news. The elders and their wives pass them around at the dinner table and have a good laugh.

  At least they do in Speke congregation in Liverpool!
