Can Today's JW Logically Explain Their Beliefs?

When i was a JW my reply was:
We follow the bible. If you read the bible and dont add to it you'd come out with our religion. Christmas isn't in there so we dont do it. There's no pope, there's no trinity, there's no hell. And we preach because that's what Jesus did when he was on earth. We immitate Christ.
Oh how blind i was. 1914 isn't in there, shun isn't in there, disfellowship isnt in there, judicial committee isn't in there, organization isn't in there, Governing Body isn't in there.

In memory of a lost doctrine - the vindication of Jehovah's name
by slimboyfat ini start this thread in response to a comment by a jw apologist called simonsays on another thread.
he claimed to have read all three volumes of vindication by rutherford (my sympathy if true).
he further implied that it didn't matter that old jw literature said wrong and stupid things, saying:.

Mothers Day is celebrated in America in the month of May.
Also, WWI started in July 1914.
Seeing that Satan was, allegedly, booted out of his heavenly abode in October 1914 this just doesn't add up. You dont have to be Stephen Lett to be able to do the math.
Back to the drawing board Mr Rutherford.

Do They Still do Door-to-Door as Much as Before?
by cofty insince the advent of the trolleys do the majority of jws still go door to door like we used to?.
do they still have meetings for field service on sat mornings and sun afternoons where most head off to the local territory while one or two go to do trolley work or has the importance of door to door work reduced?.
with the reduction of printing wts and awakes what will they offer at the doors?.

I've lived in my new house for 11 months now. No JW knows my address (apart from my ex-wife), and im in another congregations territory anyway. I've not had a JW call here. Nor did i get an invitation for the memorial or convention through my letterbox. It's a good thing they dont have a lifesaving message or they'd have blood on their hands at armageddon.
Pathetic. Always on a timetable. Always focusing on the hours and all personal interest is lost.
My ex-mother in law has this down to an art form. She gets out there at 7am, hands a crumpled leaflet to Mr Rashid at the corner shop who promptly bins them because he's just being polite. Then goes back home, handing another leaflet to any passer by, has her breakfast, goes to the group study, out on the ministry again at 10am and, apparently, that means she's been on the ministry for 3 hours already before she's even knocked on a door.
Pathetic indeed. Imagine owning a business and your staff doing that.

It's hard to overstate how important the "vindication" doctrine was to JWs at one time.
I was only 11yo at the time the the vindication teaching was dropped so i dont remember it being a big deal to me. But now that you mention it i remember as a family studying the Watchtower on Saturday evening and my dad getting exasperated at us kids not getting the point "WHY did Jesus come to earth?", we were making wild guesses trying to get the right answer and my sister suddenly shouted "to VINDICATE Jehovah's name!" and my dad said "Yes! Finally! haha".
So it seems my dad still clung to the vindication angle. At least at that time.

sanctify:
verbset apart as or declare holy; consecrate.free from sin; purify.
Wouldn't Jehovah's name already be "holy", "free from sin"and not needing to be "purified"?

YESSSSSSS!!
This has made my year. Watchtower is in panic mode. This is the business equivalent of a body shutting down its organs as it fights to survive. I know what comes next, heart failure, brain death then flatline.......................
