In a few years it'll be "We dont even have to think anymore because it's all done for us!"
It's a good thing the guys in charge are infallible and inspired isnt it?... oh, no, wait...
so, i was sort of forced to spend time with my uber-in parents.
they went on gushing about the website, and the new business cards they have to give out to busy people.
business cards?

living in new england means having lots of snow and cold.
elders were very reluctant to cancel or reschedule a meeting due to the weather.
i lived 3 towns away from the kingdom hall and if it was icy and treacherous my vote would always be to cancel the meeting....and forget about rescheduling!.
Meetings, my family went in all weather. Rain, sleet, hail, snow, blistering heat, strong wind... it didn't matter... and we WALKED the mile there. My parents didnt own a car until i was about 14.
My worst JW experience with weather was actually only 5 years ago. It was snowing heavily and strong wind. Snow was about 8 inches deep and slushy so you're shoes were soaking wet (as were your feet) and fucking cold.
EVERYONE including the CO decided to cancel the ministry and all went back to a rich brothers house for tea and cakes and a massive buffet. Unfortunately, i was working with a hard-ball elder who still went out and he was my lift home so i was stuck. We did 2 hours and got only ONE person in. And even then that person told us we were stupid being out in this weather and slammed the door on us.
Back then i had no balls. I was a "good" JW who thought the elders were personally chosen by God (ha!) so i never complained out loud.
i have been sadly watching as the number of jws in other countries are decreasing (for the most part), while the numbers in the us are strangely increasing.
while i question the organization's self reporting numbers, i think 2018 may be the year for another mass us exodus.
leah remini's show will be focusing on jws in her show on a&e.
I don’t think many JWs will watch the show, the GB don’t even have to command them not to watch it, most would be too terrified of ***apostasy?!!!*** on their TV screen. I know I was when I was a JW. Coming on here for the first time when I was a doubter I was terrified and my heart pounding as I was reading. Even then I didn’t stay longer than a minute before praying to Jehovah for forgiveness etc. But two years later I woke up and came back again.
If they do watch it’ll be a massive seed like another poster has said. Some may watch simply so they can refute the arguments. So im hoping there’s not going to be an exaggeration or deliberate misquotes to give the JWs something to point at and claim it’s a lie.
under roman rule, which covered a large part of the civilized world around the mediterranean, to be a trouble maker or a magician or an insurrectionist was a capital offence.. to live back then in a civilised society was a boon.
naturally for the sake of law and order certain compliances had to be met to as part of the social bargain to be a roman citizen.
among them were included the requirement to respect the “genius” or spirit of the emperor, not to be an atheist and to respect the roman gods.
If i lived in ancient Rome and faced torture, death in the arena etc for being an atheist then guess what? I'd show you the most devout worshipper of the Mars, Jupiter and, of course, our wonderful emperor with a painted smile.
Inside i'd know the truth so who cares? Im alive.
1972 : we started studying with the jehovah's witnesses when my uncle became an elder and put fear into our family that armageddon was close.
1974 : my mom, my brother and i were all baptized after all the convention talks and watchtower magazine articles that 1975 would likely end this system of things.
1999 : being told that the year 2000 was going to mark the 6 thousand years of mans existence and that the 1000 year kingdom in the new paradisewould come in the year 2000.

Check out Tightpants Tony at 1:46:25 "the end is imminent!"... apparently he knows better than Jesus who said:
But about that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.
Matthew 24:36 [NIV Translation]*
Tonys closing rant begins at 1:45:10. Armageddon is so close... yet they've already planned a 2018 convention for the summer? Sounds like even he doesn't really believe it.
*I will never quote from the New World Bastardization
many members on here have been shunned.
we know whats its like--and the effect it has had on our lives.
but what about those of us who practiced shunning before--when we were members of the watchtower cult ?.
I felt bad ignoring people that were obviously right in front of me. It didn't feel right. I remember If I saw a DFd person in the street or in a shop my heart would be pounding. That's how much a cult get get into your head, control your emotional reactions.
The ones who were DFd I used to say never looked happy, but now I know that because no one walks around with a smile on their face 24/7. I was sure that they'd be DFd fairly because the elders were so loving and insightful right? (barf)
my sister sent me this youtube.
in it are witnesses waving their phone lights and dancing in the aisles.
sorry if this vid has been posted before.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4k7iw-zisgw.
The previous generation are like:
saw this video and enjoyed it.
some terrible acting and some of the portrayals are exaggerated in my opinion but their bible vs watchtower reasonings are spot on.. i think it's produced by jeremiah films (who, i think, have a hibit of exaggerating the facts) but us ex members can tell.. https://youtu.be/xyynvk8nwb8.

so i'm at work and go to my vehicle parked outside the empty property i'm working at and an elderly man comes out of next door and we recognise each other from when we were elders in the same circuit.
he is early 80's in age, a jw since the 1960's and so the next generation in age up from me.. he's an outwardly jolly sort and asks how i am etc.
(knows i'm not an elder but thinks i'm pimi) and asks if i want a cup of tea so i go in and sit in his kitchen for my lunchbreak and have a chat.. i have a little fish around and ask about how jw's in his hall are.
It would be funny if it wasnt so sad. Glad those people have woken up and left though.
Also, a lot of JWs i remember seemed to have M.E. It's an illness that only seems to affect JWs isnt it?
take it away, bleed it, give it back.. reading about the gingerbread man reminded me of this:.
how irrational the society could be was experienced by the sister-in-law of ex-bethelite william (bill) cetnar when .... at the suggestion of her veterinarian, she had a blood transfusion given to her poodle to prolong its life.
she couldn't believe bill [cetnar]when he told her that the society would say she had violated god's law.
Yh, i guess that means that cat wont get a resurrection... ???
Jesus died for the sins of cats and racoons too?
