I wonder what their stance is on women shaving their pubic hair?
I may write to bethel (for a laugh) and see if i get an answer.
so this week's midweek meeting video about stumbling others has lett spouting and gurning rubbish again.. if you can't take the whole 9 minutes go from 5:50 to get the context and 6:45 for the "beard" mention.. https://youtu.be/ezv1ici5cwo.
oh, well - at least they shoot themselves in the foot with this doublespeak.

i don't think the wt ever say anything about this prophecy.
if they did, i think they will say it is symbolic and that it doesn't mean damascus will be destroyed literally,.
but watching the things happening now in syria , it seems very possible that it could happen.. if this prophecy comes true, will those of you here who have rejected the bible as the word of god think twice regarding the bible?.
<sigh>
Listen, eventually, at some point in time Damascus will be destroyed. As will London, Paris, Washington and Sydney. Perhaps not in our lifetime, but certainly 100% in the future.
How do i know? Not because of some bible prophesy bullshit, but because by observing other small stars like our sun, astrophysicists have learned that one day the sun will cool and expand and engulf this planet and liquidate the earth and everything on it in a millisecond.
THAT, my friend, will happen. Besides, this planet has destroyed almost all life on it at least 3 times in its 4.5 Billion years. It's bound to happen again a few times before it's destroyed entirely.
we all know waking up from the cult and trying to leave is a very scary and life changing experience.
for many it's traumatic and few find the transition easy.
we have to deal with families cutting us off entirely or keeping us at arms length at best, lies being told about us by the organization, ex members gossiping about us and finding ourselves in a world very different from what we're prepared for.. for this reason, i've decided to start writing a self-help book informing jws of what to expect when they leave the org.
I will happily contribute some funds to your efforts? Have you started a go-fund-me or something similar?
Thanks stuck, but i don't think that will be necessary.
My conscience does not permit me to make money of offering help. It's not as if im gonna publish it in paper and ink. With PDF, epub and mobi and can publish myself.

Thanks for the sentiments and advice guys.
I like your interest in helping others. However, in recent years there has been a proliferation of books out there that seem to cover similar ground (i.e., what to do when you leave, etc).
Check out some of these books which should give you a helpful idea of whether and to what extent your book would be covering the same or similar ground.
I'm aware of this, this is why it isnt going to be about me or "what JWs believe". It's intended for those who are were JWs and have found themselves DFd or those who have left and find it hard to adjust. Some return simply because they don't know how to cope or because the cult never left them.
Lloyd Evans is writing one on HOW to leave the JWs. Again, this isnt covering how to leave. It's about surviving after you're already out.
This book intends to fill that gap.

For this reason, I've decided to start writing a self-help book informing JWs of what to expect when they leave the org. I'll be explaining what will happen, why, how to deal with it, how to behave when you first leave, the mental processes you're likely to go through, where to find support and digging into the elders letters and Shepherd book so they can see that trying to make them feel miserable is orchestrated by Watchtower.
I'm not sure about the title yet but some ideas are:
For a few weeks now I've been writing notes in a little notepad i carry around with me about ex-JW problems we face, the reason those problems are there and how i (or others) managed to deal with them. I've found that if i i dont write them down i quickly forget them.
One thing that i noticed about 3 weeks after leaving was that many JWs looked for reasons to hate me. They were shunning me and because they didn't know why they had to justify it in their minds so they would bring things up that happened years ago or create rumors.
By the way, the book will be FREE. I'm planning on releasing it digitally to make sure it can be easily distributed and shared.
My psychology degree studies are really helping. I'm used to backing up claims with references, making academic arguments and leaving emotion at the door. Although the last one can be a challenge when dealing with a subject so close to my heart.
I reckon it'll be done before Dec 2018.
so i have been awake since about this time in 2013, so about 5 years.
and the craziest thing about it is that now, no one, and i mean no one know's i am an apostate.
meaning, that i don't believe the jw minds set/beliefs at all, and no one knows it.
I dont know how you stand it mate. I was wide awake for a few months before being discovered, but those months took a toll on me. My mood was getting lower each week, depression starting to set in.
I've had the best 2.5 years since leaving. Literally the best time of my life.
tuesday, february 27. let the elders who preside in a fine way be considered worthy of double honor, especially those who work hard in speaking and teaching.—1 tim.
5:17.. those related to us in the faith certainly merit honor and respect.
this is especially true of the elders who are taking the lead.
A JW elder is a clone who automatically asks himself, NOT “What would Jesus do?” but, “What does the Governing Body say?”
My ex-wifes dad is an elder. Whenever i'd try to have deep conversations about the bible or the nature of God or something he'd always say "hmm, i'd need to check with the society about that one". NOT "i'll need to check my bible" or "i'll do some research". It was always "the society".
somebody posted the contract on exjwreddit: https://i.redd.it/1u8808gy6ni01.jpg.
it appears to be signed by howie ernest rutledge.
im assuming this is howie rutledge tran, former assistant to the gb?.
I actually was going to call bullshit on this, it just looks and reads so culty and number 6 is blatantly just taking money from the pioneers.
If it wasnt for Howies name on it i would have laughed it off.

Let the elders who preside in a fine way be considered worthy of double honor, especially those who work hard in speaking and teaching.—1 Tim. 5:17.
Those related to us in the faith certainly merit honor and respect. This is especially true of the elders who are taking the lead. We honor these brothers regardless of their nationality, education, social standing, or financial status. The Bible refers to them as “gifts in men,” and they are a key part of God’s arrangement to care for the needs of his people. (Eph. 4:8) Think of congregation elders, circuit overseers, Branch Committee members, and the members of the Governing Body. Our brothers and sisters in the first century had high regard for those appointed to take the lead, and we feel similarly today. We do not idolize well-known representatives of the Christian congregation or react in their presence as if angels were standing nearby. Still, we do respect and honor such brothers for their hard work and humility.—2 Cor. 1:24; Rev. 19:10. w17.03 1:13
Not that i waste my time reading the days text anyway (it came up when i was looking for a reference for another post on here) but i couldn't help shaking my head at this.
"Think of congregation elders, circuit overseers, Branch Committee members, and the members of the Governing Body. Our brothers and sisters in the first century had high regard for those appointed to take the lead..."
Funny, there was no Governing Body in the first century. Nor were there Branch Committee members or circuit overseers. The bible has no such words.
I honor only two elders. One who left the org 2 years ago because he refused go along with their child abuse policy. And the other is Paul Grundy, who also left the org and founded JWFacts.com.
The only GB member worthy of honor was Ray Franz.
