  Celebrating a birthday for the 1st time

  after almost a year of thinking and eh feeling, not sure... i decided to throw a small birthday party for my son.

  this feels so strange, i have never been to a birthday party.

  my husband doesn't feel comfortable with it but he decided to play along lol.

  I can relate entirely. I didnt know what to do on my first b.day celebration either. In the end, i made my daughters day simply all about her and made it her day. Cake and presents at a minimum but i found she was happy with that alone. It was just me and her because we didnt know anyone yet.
  

  For her next one, i held a small party of her best friends, kids games, bouncy castle and i made goody bags for the kids to take home - little bags with sweets (candy) and toys.

  As for my birthday... i could still take it or leave it. It has no feel. Thanks Watchtower :(

  hall crash

  i live in the des moines iowa area , i would be interested in doing a kingdom hall crash after watching some on youtube, i would love to do that with a group of people.

  i haven't meet any other ex jw around here.

  i was never baptized, i always knew i could never live up to jehovah's standard so i never did even consider baptizing.

  I remember when i was a kid an elders wife got disfellowshipped for "apostacy". A few weeks later she walked into the KH shouting about how evil the org was and the us JWs were being mislead.

  You know what we all thought at the time? - "What a nut! See, the org is right, apostates ARE bitter and angry".

  If one of the GB also is made to stand trial, I wonder if the rest of the GB will hang him out to dry and abandon him??

  ectopic pregnancies, when detected, are usually treated by surgically removing them.

  i always understood that this procedure was ok for jehovah's witnesses.

  but the subject came up during pioneer school.

  My ex-wife had an ectopic pregnancy in the first year of our marriage. She was given methotrexate to "flush out" the embyro.

  We never consulted any elder nor researched Watchtower library. It's absolutely absurd to put the mother in danger when the embryo wont develop naturally anyway.

  well, its that time where i have to go to the boring convention.

  so, i wanted to know if anyone had any good ideas on how too pass the time (i cant just try and listen i fall will asleep and i cant let that happen).. (only got a few weeks before i have to go its going too kill me but i got too do it).

  Damn i remember being in my teens in the boring conventions. I used to invent games on paper with my brother: word searches, crossword puzzles, anagrams. But that's hardly sustainable for 7 freakin' hours for 3 days!!

  Take binoculars and check out the hotties (we've all done it).

  Some people seem to be so fascinated about members of the governing body. They forget that only one is our leader, Christ. And only one is our God, Jehovah.

  Right... and it's the Governing Body that happens to be the ones that tell you what Jehovah is saying.

  You know the Catholics dont follow the pope right? They "follow god" the pope is just the middle man.

  Your governing body is the same thing.

  The smurph myth reached us here in liverpool, UK too. Same story of one getting up and walking out of a KH. I was told that papa smurph was a demon who turned into a tree? Don't even understand that one.
