  My Reflections On a Year of Freedom

  in late may 2017, i told my parents how i really felt about the religion they had raised me in, and by early june i was out of their house.

  i've done a lot since then.

  i let my hair and beard grow out a bit.

  The Latest Thing Waking People Up...

  since i woke up and left i've been contacted by others i knew from my youth who've also left the cult.

  also people around the world on facebook adding me out of the blue because we have mutual friends and they occasionally ask me stuff or share their story.. what i've noticed in the vast majority of cases, is that people are waking up not because of the arc or doctrine but apathy.

  active jws are becoming less and less interested, less and less bothered.

  What I've noticed in the vast majority of cases, is that people are waking up not because of the ARC or doctrine but apathy. Active JWs are becoming less and less interested, less and less bothered. Being a Jehovah's Witness is not fun. Going to the meetings, knocking on doors, sitting down in a hot convention arena for 7 hours is not fun. The last two people I spoke to said they were fed up with the claim that non-JW friends are like this or that, when in fact they knew that they wernt the way Watchtower describes them at all.

  I felt like this myself for the final 3 years of my active JW life. I thought "I dont want to live in paradise, i'd rather just live my life and die at the end". I think I mentioned this in one of my very first posts. It was due to the fact that a JW must work, work, work to be even in the congregation - let alone in good standing. Constantly scrutinizing oneself (and others), having no day free to just relax and being told that if you're relaxing you're not giving your all.
  

  Remember when Tony Morris told the 8 million JWs that they need to be preaching even more? That when armageddon comes Jehovah will look at their hands and see blood on them? Who wants or needs to hear that? Worshiping a god should be a joy, a pleasure. Coming back from a religious observance should be refreshing. Coming back from a convention where Tony Morris is telling you that whatever number you're putting on your report slip you're still not doing enough isn't refreshing. Worshiping Jehovah The Org isn't a joy.

  The GB are boring and depressing the members out of the org. With no yearbooks, wafer thin mags that will now be printed indefinitely on a rota basis, the lack of convention releases, the serious dumbing down of "spiritual food", the media exposing them and still the promise of armageddon (just around the corner since 1875), the command to start shunning inactive family is making people think "even if this is the truth is it worth it?".

  Tony Morris shown how truly devoid of compassion the GB are by declaring in 2014:

  “Sometimes folks talk about this relative and that relative, and you know they’re baptized but they’re going through a hard time, and they’re not preaching…and you know they talk about Jehovah like he’s gonna understand and all that, and I’m like ‘what Jehovah are they talkin’ about?’ – I don’t know him.   People just dont care. That's the response I've had from those I've spoke to anyway.

  if she was Murdered going somewhere while she "should have been at the convention" they would say; "See! Going to the meetings/assemblies/conventions is a protection!"

  Maybe non JWs could say "See! If she wasnt going to the convention..."

  I hate it when it looks like a good video, then when i click play those two pop up on screen. Im sure they're lovely people but it takes ages for them to play the frigging video i came for and he just shouts at the camera for more than half of the screen time.

  The JW take on Black lives matter at the summer convention

  there's a talk about remaining neutral.

  one of the topics they say jw's should avoid is the topic of "peoples lives matter" which is barely veiled code for black lives matter.

  Weird love letter in the summer convention

  in this summer's convention theres a video showing the tale of a rather geeky plain looking brother whose relating the tale of how the prettiest girl in the whole school fancied him (!

  ) and sent him a love letter, the letter is read and it says .

  "i think we would get along,i'm attracted to you, i like your personality, and that's not all, i think we could have fun together.

  If a hot Italian girl wrote me a letter offering "fun" there's no way I'd talk to my parents about it. Let alone an elder!

  As if this is a situation which someone would feel out of depth anyway.

  Aggressive JWs in my area

  i was called an "ugly person" by a jw because of my book.

  this sister said that she doesn't mind me not being a jw but she hates me because i trashed jws in my book.

  i told her that i didn't trash it i just wrote what i have learned about the org in 15 years.

  Screwed up sexually

  i was thinking about how the borg screws up and sexually neuters their flock by telling them when single to "deaden their body" and then boom as soon as there's a ring on the finger to not be denying eachother.. do any of you know of jws who have been screwed up by these teachings?

  i know 2, 1 elder came back from honeymoon having a nervous breakdown unable to cope with the cd that sex produced in his head.

  and the other called up her parents while on honeymoon, crying and begging for themto come and get her, since she was so shocked that sex hurt.

  'timothy got circumcised so as not to stumble others!

  I hated that nudity alone was always stamped as pornography. My mum was that strict about it I wasn't even allowed to see Greek statues if they were nude. Same goes for paintings. This is in my teens mind you. Even when I was in my early 20s she'd change the TV station if there's a shampoo advert we're the woman is in the shower even though you don't see anything.

  Then next after marriage I'm supposed to see a naked woman and know what to do!
