It was a life changing read for me and many of us on here, you’re in for a gripping read and quite an education. I’m planning to read it again and take notes.

WT Study October 2018....spinning ''layoffs'' into ''reassigning'' ex-Bethelites ''to the field''
by RULES & REGULATIONS inwt study october 2018. maintain inner peace despite changing circumstances.
lloyd and alexandra learn that they have been reassigned to the field, they at first felt sad.
after all, they had been serving at bethel for over 25 years.

It must be scary though, especially in a country that has little or no welfare. Being kicked to the curb in your middle ages or later and expected to find a home, job etc and never an option to retire because you've no savings.
I get it, the ones who joined Bethel probably thought they'd be there when the big A comes.
Good thing it's "just around the corner" otherwise I'd be terrified of wasting my youth, energy and time in Bethel when I could be living my life and preparing for the future.
But what do I know, I'm "mentally diseased".

If My Dad Were To See The Watchtower Org Now
by pale.emperor inas we all know, this org has metamorphosized from one ugly creature to another continuously since it's inception.
but more so it seems in the last 30 years.. i got to thinking what my dad would think if he were to be brought to life for 5 mins to see the way things are now.
how would he even react?.

I was still in (and an 80% believer) when they stopped the ministry school. No more talks from the platform for pale.emperor. I genuinely enjoyed giving talks and studying a subject. When that ended it didn't make sense. The elders were acting all excited and upbeat about it as if it was a wonderful change but you could tell they were putting it on. Even they didn't understand the change.
As for those that've been in for decades, I can totally understand why they'd prefer the safety of not confronting their doubts. Where else would they go? It is worth losing friends you've had 30+ years? Is it worth losing your children, brothers, sisters or parents? The propaganda in the literature and videos always show ex-members as bitter, selfish and dangerous.

My dad died in 2004. One thing he was sure of (because, why wouldn't he be? It was printed in a Watchtower) was that "the new system™" would definitely be here before 2035 because "the bible says" some of the generation of 1914 will still be alive when the great tribulation starts.
The King of the North was Satan.
He was so glad to belong to a religion that doesn't advertise it's leaders - why, didn't even know their names! Surely this shows how humble they are.
Look at those silly religions with not getting out there preaching. See the cowardly, lukewarm preaching styles they have like televangelism.
And this religion has never asked him for money.
And there's no logo for this religion!
I think he'd be shocked to say the least that his beloved org has become something akin to a business model or an advertising company.

At 1.4% growth the last 2 years, it's safe to say, jw.org and cart witnessing is an abject failure!
by nowwhat? inso much for jehovah blessing this new arrangement.
they are barely keeping up with the birthrate!
so basically the org spent millions of dollars on their website and broadcasting so the only growth they are still getting comes from born ins and illiterate and superstitious folks from africa.

I was talking to one today in town. He was under the shelter of a shoe shop in the rain. I made a friendly comment about him choosing the wrong day to be out and said my sister is a JW (which is true. I never let on that I'm a former member).
I asked how he's finding it and he said, and I quote, "Yeah, it's going good. We're not interested in placing magazines or books anymore. We just want people to see the sign and maybe they'll visit our website."
I made polite chit-chat and left.
Maybe they'll visit the website?
My grandfather would turn in his grave.

I really feel for those kids. I hate that the golden calf "JW. org" is emblazoned in the background there.
Literally dressing up their children as witnessing carts and having them sing about it.
Totally not idol worship... honest.

There's a former CO, former missionary who's now demoted to just a regular elder in a KH here in Liverpool. Anyone remember Barry Birtles? He was a traveling missionary in the middle east in the 70s and 80s and had to flee one of the counties where JWs were under ban when the authorities managed to get a photo of him. He had loads of interesting stories and experiences.
And look at him now. Approaching 80 with no savings, no job, standing by a cart in the cold everyday.
