  what were some of the derogatory things you heard or said about house holders?

  they brag about the fact that they the don' t baptize their babies because "how can a baby 'know' what religion it wants to believe in the rest of it's life!".

  but a 14 year old does?.....they put so much presure on their children to get dunked, that if your not baptize by 18 years old there is something really "wrong" with you.. so the poor kid does it, just to get everyone off their backs.

  legally a minor can't be held to a contract if they are under 18 years old and why?

  I was 14. I wasn't pressured by my parents to get baptized but was pressured to go to meetings. I was told at 13 that if i didn't wanna go to the Kingdom hall then i could move out. Well, thats a tough thing to do at 13. I was baptized only because everyone else that age was doing it and they were friends of mine. No one wants to be the odd one out when you are already odd enough to the world.

  when i was a teenager, i was told by an elder that because i smiled a lot and was known for my good sense of humor, that i should come across as "more serious".

  so before i was appointed a ms, while in my late teens, i transformed myself into a much more "serious" brother.. were you ever told that you needed to work on something that you knew was stoopid?.

  some of the earlier watchtowers were really loving in their speech about df'd people

  "we must hate the disfellowshipped person in the truest sense, which is to regard with extreme active aversion, to consider them as loathsome, odious, filthy, to detest" wt 1952 oct 1.

  There are a few others also, but pretty hard to believe Jesus would ever say anything like that.

  Watchtower crackdown on anointed expansion - are they reaching for a solution to the expanding numbers problem?

  i think the january study watchtower is a concerted attempt to reduce the numbers claiming to be anointed.

  but i love the sneaky way they go about it this time.

  I'm surprised the GB just doesn't lie about the number of anointed to make themselves look better. They could just print a misleading number and the sheeple would believe it anyways.

  it has to be starting to fade somehow.

  the very last time i went out in field service, hardly any were out.

  maybe just about nine people were out and man if you could just see their faces.

  Our hall has always had pretty low numbers on saturday morning and pretty much no one going out on Sundays. They even try to boost attendance by having a "special" saturday every month. That has proved fruitless as well.

  Tv's in Kingdom hall

  so now that the borg has taken all of the congregations money, there was just a resolution to get all new tv's, etc for the stage for the new meeting format.. i wasn't there, but it was a large sum.

  somebody mentioned over 3000$.. all the congregations in the city are likely doing the same thing, and are getting all the equipment from bethel.. i was wondering if this was happening all most everywhere?.

  can't see it in third world countries( might not even have internet).

  Ours were installed just a week or two ago. Two big 70" tv's, and a projector and screen. Seems a bit overkill, since they spent $2500 on the projector about two years ago and now $3200 on the 70" smart tv's. People were making comments during the wt study on sunday about how great these smart tv's are and how the WT is using the world..........but of course not using the world to the full like they preach against.

  Bethel should be considered bad

  from what i was told, we don't celebrate birthdays because the only two times it is mentioned in the bible, bad things happened.

  so if the wt wants to set standards by the "two bad things" rule, then why do they use the name bethel?

  i've read two instances in the bible where bad things happened there.

  most brothers are shocked when i tell them chess is banned because it's un-wholesome!.

  awake 1973 3/22 p.12 ..."the spirit of competition between players can lead to unpleasant circumstances...most families manage to keep the conflicts that arise in a game to the chess board.

  but, in some homes tensions linger long past "checkmate.

  Did anyone notice a recent statement in the watchtower? I wonder how many elders,co's, pioneers go home and watch football every sunday? Almost everyone in my hall and every hall i've ever been to watch one sport or another. And here they use the word SHUN, but who actually does? When we got to this paragraph in the WT study no one even commented on this. Big surprise!
