So, how did the 'beard article' go over yesterday at your congregation?

at mine the conductor was somewhat awkward and minimal and there were nervous chuckles from the audience.

two people, including an elder, gave reasonable comments that it's okay as long as it's not extreme styles, etc.

but then another one of the elders commented that nothing has changed and they still aren't proper locally.

I recorded the comments, i'll have to see if i can figure out how to upload them. Nothing too negative said about them at my hall, but at another hall locally the conductor said its clear they aren't accepted around here because if they were then brothers would be wearing them. I don't think it'll change much around here after the article. Witlesses need the clear o.k. to grow them and nothing is ever clear in the W.T.

I started growing my first one about a month ago and an elder asked if i was growing a beard. I told him "yep, figured i'd give it a try since i've never had one". He didn't say anything else. The other elders have avoided me so far and a few people have said they like it. One sister came up and asked me "what is that on your face!?" I asked her if she would say the same to Jesus if he was here. I then told her there are no rules against them.

hi ive heard a romour that any jws that want a printed copy of the new song book to use at the kh will have to order one otherwise they will not get one.ithink they are trying to make people use tablets to view the song book.

as the new songbook is only 154 pages is this yet another money saving event in the borg .

Yes they read a letter after last sundays meeting about this. The letter said a paper copy could be obtained but it also reminded people to donate in order to support the arrangement. Typical.

haha, wow i didn't think it was real at first, i was thinking it was a parody or something, but no, these nuts continue to impress me. It looks like only the chinese congregations have an issue with running too fast though. ha

I doubt they'd get df'd. Many watch fireworks in early July and go to local parades. An idiot jw i know gave his kids a hard time for lighting those chinese lanterns and letting them go, but will take them to parades even though they originate with the military and politics supposedly. Jw's have the dumbest reasoning for not doing certain things because it has pagan origins. Most everything we do was done by the pagans at one time.

Interesting find in the bible last night

so i was reading genesis chapter 10 and 11 to see how it explains the man who supposedly is the offspring of noah and he and his offspring become the nation known as egypt.

in some bibles they actually call him egypt.

Reinstated and then fade

i'm a man - d'fd for 2.5 years now and divorced.

find it hard to date girls out here only due to always having this secret i carry with me that i was once a jw and the thought of telling a girl one day why my family don't acknowledge me as even alive.. recently been thinking of trying to get reinstated and then do a quick fade as i cant go back to the whole jw stuff.. easier said than done and was turned down twice by elders after an immediate attempt 2 years ago.. my motivation for trying would be 1.

) to see if family make contact and 2) play the last hand in their game and give the middle finger.. interested in viewpoints?.

I wouldn't worry about telling someone. Anyone i told were intrigued by how crazy the religion is and in no way thought bad of me.

Stand Up Comedy about JWs

hello all,i have just signed up to do a comedy course.

it starts in september.in order to get a headstart, i did my first 5 minutes tonight about jws.i explained that i celebrated my first birthday last week.

bemusement and a tittle.explained that if you could choose between hare krishnas and people standing at a trolley/cart as a religion who would you choose?got a laugh.explained that the whole world will be destroyed if you do not listen to our message, yet we are not prepared to initiate a conversation at a trolley.big laugh.

Congregation witch hunt?

heard about a congregation recently that had a local needs talk regarding going to the elders if any wrongdoing had happened, or if you knew of someone involved.. mostly they were concerned with over-indulging in alcohol, but the elder emphasized "the need to get help from elders, or your spirituality would be harmed".

(words to that effect).

so now there's brothers and sisters running to see these guys, and likely over stuff that happened maybe years ago.. funny thing is the brother telling me about it said there's been several meetings now where people's names are read from the platform, and it looks like it'll be going on for a while.. i think if your conscience was bothering you, you would be better off being catholic, at least your only confessing to one person instead of being shamed in front of eveyone..

Thats how it always goes. Everyone is having a good time and pushing the limits in the congregation, then one person gets a guilty conscience or pisses someone off and everyone in that group gets in trouble. Seen it quite a few times.
