Should this Body of elders be considered blood guilty?
by dbq407 inover the weekend a very nice, caring individual was killed in a car accident after meeting.
she was 32 y/o and has a 3 year old daughter.
her husband was driving home from meeting when his car slid off the road, came back on the road, and was broad sided by a truck.

Yes the young child was ok. It has always bothered me how much they push the meetings and not to miss them no matter the circumstances. I can remember driving thru snowstorms to go to meeting when i was young, because if they weren't cancelled then you were more or less expected to be there. Most of the other cong. cancelled meeting on sunday (I cant confirm if all did). I just feel like the BOE should feel some responsibility for their lack of "caring" for the flock. -

Has anyone else collected their money back from local Kingdom Halls for money loaned for construction?
by StoneWall injust a reminder if you haven't, to get it back before they sell any more halls.even if you're currently da/df you can still collect any monies owed you by the kingdom hall as far as loans go.we were able to get back $1000 that my mom had loaned the local hall for a loan to build new one.it was documented by the paper that had been given each publisher back then on how much they could/would be willing to give as an outright donation or a loan.
the loan was to be paid back whenever the publisher requested it.
(not a specific date)i can't help but feel that a lot of the old timers that loaned monies to the society and/or k-halls have been forgot about by them or their families.

Over the weekend a very nice, caring individual was killed in a car accident after meeting. She was 32 y/o and has a 3 year old daughter. She was crushed from her hips down and died shortly after at the hospital.
Here is the problem i have. Most congregations i know of canceled meeting sunday morning because of the snow storm. It was snowing before 9 a.m. and anyone with a smart phone or t.v. would have been able to check the radar and realize it was going to snow all morning. It is the elders responsiblity to care for and protect the congregation, but in this case i feel they failed miserably. If they had canceled she wouldn't have died. And most jw's here know that if the roads are bad, but meetings aren't canceled that most will still risk their lives trying to go to meeting because they are made to feel bad if they do miss, regardless of the weather.
I honestly feel these elders are blood guilty for their actions.

Two interesting places in the Bible, Bethel and Megiddo.
by Crazyguy infirst if one looks into the place bethel this is where the king of israel sets up golden calves and tells his people here is your god's go here and to dan to worship.
he didn't want his people going all the way down to jerusalem.
he also made his own priests again to take worship away from jerusalem and it's priests the levites.

Also Bethel was where 40 kids were killed by a bear for teasing a bald guy. Two bad instances mentioned in the bible about Bethel. Its a bad place by WT standards. -

The Forgotten Ones
by ToesUp injust curious...is anyone hearing the older/infirm ones speaking out to others on how they are being treated in the congregation?
without giving anything away, i have spoken to so many older ones (some are sickly or can't drive in the evening or can't drive at all) who can't make it to all the meetings, assemblies, etc., that are complaining on how they are being treated by the more righteous ones in the hall.
the ones i have spoken to make the comment that it seems to be the younger elders that have less empathy and concern for these ones.

Unless they are contributing money, the Watchtower has no use for them. -

first - if you hope to become an elder, in the uk you will also become a charitable trustee.
you will not be given any training for this part of your role.

The elder on stage giving our part said that he has heard many elders comment that if they knew it was going to be so much work, they wouldn't have become and elder.
He was trying to point out how much work the elders do, but to me it sounded like most elders hate their job.

Good idea or bad idea?
by stephanie61092 infirst and foremost, thank you so much to so many of you who have reached out to me over the past few days since my post on sunday.
i'm not totally in the best mental state, however, i do have a very small amount of people that i can lean on for support.
i relayed my feelings to a friend (my only friend, really), who took the initiative to inform my family.

Just pretend you are putting cash in the box after meeting. Maybe drop a folded dollar bill when one of the elders are watching, so they at least think you are donating. -

I like this question on their money grabbing website...
Q. I have Credit and Debit cards. Which should I use?
A.We will gratefully accept donations from both Credit and Debit cards, although if the donation is greater than £15, we will be charged more for a Credit card donation than a Debit card donation.
So be a good JW and use your debit card for larger donations........it'll save the asshats money :)

Has anybody watched Making A Murderer on Netflix ?
by smiddy ini watched this 10 part series the other day and i was appalled at the investigation conducted by the police , especially the way they conducted their investigation with brendan vassey , his interrogation and obvious manipulation by the police officers , i couldn`t believe he was convicted , and sentenced to a jail term.. to any intelligent person with any sense of compassion could see brendan vassey was intellectually disadvantaged , yet these police officers exploited that failing of this boy .he should never have been convicted , his case should have been thrown out of court , the fact that he has been in jail over 10 years is a gross miscarriage of justice .. the conviction of steven avery seemed to me to be a set up also from what was presented on netflix ,.
i am no fan of steven avery ,i think he is a bit of a hillbilly type , that has had no problem with cruelty to animals , which i abhor ,yet i do think he has been railroaded in this conviction ,while the real killer and rapist goes free .. what are your thoughts .
smiddy.

I don't know how the jury could have convicted either one of them with the lack of evidence presented in both cases. The whole case was apalling and i think they both need a retrial. I think the real killer is still on the loose.
