So what was the tipping point during that assembly that made you quit?
Its nice hearing from ex elders and higher ups so please share stories.
today marks 13 years since my wife and i have stepped inside a kingdom hall.
after 29 years full on being a jw and a number of years serving as an elder then as the presiding overseer we pulled the plug.
yes 13 years ago coming home from the first day of a circuit assembly i said to my wife “that’s it i am not going back”.
So what was the tipping point during that assembly that made you quit?
Its nice hearing from ex elders and higher ups so please share stories.
look at these two photos from africa.. .

who's getting the money donated for kh building and remodeling?.
morning part 1. .
.chairmins address.
show loyalty by shunning family memebers no mater what.. part2 be loyal in thought.
according to new, officially published guidelines, jws can now shun a person who has not been disfellowshipped from the congregation.
i see this guideline being abused by many jws who have an axe to grind with a fellow jw.
for example, let's say sister peinindiass rubs sister sensitive the wrong way.
I find it hard to believe many will shun any who aren't officially df'd. Witnesses need a label on everyone and if they don't have the df'd label they probably won't shun them. Maybe the org needs a limited association label or something where you can only talk to them if they come to the k.h.
Hope i didn't just give them an idea haha.
.... i just looked through some videos on the scientology and the mormon youtube channels.animated whiteboard animations, bad acting, compelling music...it's all the same as jw.org...or the other way around.the similarity is very striking to me.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ghjomvjadbghttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jxf3pwvjoka.
i wonder why that is....
Ha, i was as touched by those videos as i am by the jw ones.
the issue of whether beards are acceptable or not is addressed in the september 2016 watchtower - well sort of.
it is as clear as mud as to whether they are allowed in places like australia, usa and britain.. 17. what are some factors that may affect whether a brother wears a beard?17 what about the propriety of brothers wearing a beard?
the mosaic law required men to wear a beard.
I brought up this article to my dad yesterday (who is an elder) and i said maybe they are loosening up on the beard issue? He told me they go by what is accepted by local businessmen usually as to whether or not it is ok to have a beard.
That was a new one to me. These guys really are nuts.
myself and my peers in the jw organization in the 1960`s discouraged our children from entering into competitive sports because of the jw policy , regarding that scripture .. has their been a radical change since then ?
a re-interpretation of that scripture ?.
why i ask this question is : here in victoria australia where afl football ( aussie rules ) is often regarded as a religion , especially to the state, victoria , we have, according to the media , a devout jehovah`s witness playing professional afl football at a competitive level.. and at their latest win , the team , including alec rance a jw of the richmond club was enthusiastically singing the club victory song along with his teammates on their win .. are their other examples of this in other parts of the world or is this an australian hiccup.. smiddy.
sept. 2015 wt (study edition) says "Accordingly, we can ask ourselves: ‘Does my conscience move me to shun sports that are aggressive, competitive, nationalistic, or violent? "
So pretty clear the WT wants people to have nothing to do with sports, to the point of "shunning them" which most of us are well aware how shunning feels :)
Funny story for everyone about this also. Last fall when Alabama won the title in college football, this lady i know, who is a pioneer, went to bethel with her hubby etc., posted a picture on social media stating how Alabama were champions and how excited she was. I then posted a comment, refreshing her memory on the recent WT about shunning competitive sports lol. I was unfriended quickly after that lol. Gotta love it.
i know i've started similar topics before but this time i'm serious.
my parents have been constantly pressuring me and after yesterday's watchtower study they asked me if i was going to be baptized this summer... and i said yes.
i probably should have thought about it more before making a final decision, but they're pretty much forcing me to do it anyway.
my wife and i live in a small town in northern new jersey.
there is a building near our house that, many decades ago, used to be the local post office.
it sat idle for many years, but a couple of years ago, some folks bought it and renovated it into a nice little cafe.
worldwide work fund.
yep they read a letter today after the sunday morning meeting.
they were also highly encouraging people to volunteer to go to the fort to clean up brothers houses.
