Merry Christmas! Happy New Year too!
Isn't it crazy what we go through to gain the freedom to say that? This year I'm doing as much as I can to bring the joy of the season to my husband without tripping his jdubb meter. So far, so good.
love the music.color, season's greetings, etc.
even have a desktop tree.. neighbors on the block are all lit up (since thanksgiving = awesome!).
the colors are gorgeous!.

isaiah 44:25-26, i am frustrating the signs of the empty talkers, and i am the one who makes diviners act like fools; the one confounding the wise men and turning their knowledge into foolishness; the one making the word of his servant come true and completely fulfilling the predictions of his messengers.
the record shows your words and many predictions did not come true.
again, the key word in isaiah 44:25-26 is "predictions" and the apostles never made any predictions ever.
Greybeard, thank you! I have a private journal that I keep specifically to record anything that I find incriminating about the WT. This info went into it. Whenever I start to doubt my distrust of the Org, all I have to do is pull out my journal and the evidence is blatant. Thanks again.
so when you first found out specific facts about the organisation, how did you feel??.
the un membership.
the way 1914 was calculated from pyramid measurements.
did any of you guys disregard the wt recommendations and pursue a career.
if you answer "yes": was your journey easy?
are you happy with the end result?
In highschool, I got a scholarship, but my parents were totally against higher education. It wasn't until years later, as a grown adult, that I was able to save my pennies and pay my way through college.
I got a degree, and although I haven't had much use for it, I have to say I would not trade that college education for ANYTHING. I learned more in those few years of college than decades spent sitting in the meetings reading JW literature. I learned that WT does little to support their views except to present straw man arguments and twist the statements of third parties. I also learned to research facts for myself.
I did meet with some opposition from JWs who knew I was going to school. My parents, for one, were less than thrilled, and thought college would destroy my love of God. A couple of sisters counseled me that an education in the troof was better than in the world. For the most part, I just kept my education to myself, and told people I was "working" which was true.
Now looking back, I would do it again, and I wish I had the time to get a PHD. Maybe in the future.
I do recommend college to everyone I know--including kids and even my family. The more people understand the realities of world they live in, the less inclined they are to accept illogical info shoved down their throat.
in the last 5/6 years, i've read many threads, some made me laugh , others sad such is life , but was a very pleasant experience.
so i though it was time to introduce myself a bit.. im portuguese although living in the u.k. atm.
im from a (now) jw family and i have 2 sisters.
Kick50r,
Hello and welcome! Awesome first post! Good for you standing up for real truth, and at such a young age too. Looking forward to your future posts!

hers was a primal scream, cutting me with an icy blade of accusation..
Terry,
I love this. I love that her yellow ribbon was left behind. I love your writing voice. I'm assuming you are a published author?

hi people,.
i want as much data as possible on the effect of the internet on the time captured by the cult.. please answer the three following questions about yourself or about someone you know (for example, if your parents or grandparents were jw's and left).
1) were you raised as a jw, or did you convert?.
1) raised in
2) 2000
3) 2015
15 years
as a good jw i never smoked a joint or nibbled on some brownies.
so on last saturday, one of my good child hood friends (i consider her like a real sister) who is da posted on facebook that she was going to be having a birthday party for her son.
well another person we grew up with immediately posted a comment about how she should know better then to celebrate bdays and referenced 2 peter 2:20-22 (about being like a dog turning to its own vomit).
i countered with with luke 11:37-49 and didn't hear back.
Just another JW asshole sucking all the joy out of life (jealous that someone is enjoying a birthday because, of course, they can't celebrate their own). I'd rather be a dog eating vomit than a JW lapping up the GB's crap.
Ugh...FB.
just a little disclaimer: english isn't my first language (i'm from france) thus the poor writing skills.here is the situation: i'm not a jw.
however, i'm in the process of becoming one.
in fact, i'm studying with the jw's, and i'll proceed to become an unbaptized publisher as soon as i finish the first book.to make a long story short i was introduced to the truth when i was 18een.
The problem is that ALL of the JW congregations are corrupt. They all follow the teachings and interpretations of seven men in New York. The disease is systemic.
If I could scoop you up and take you to a safe place, I would do it right now. I grew up a JW, and I can tell you in all truth that the abusive behavior toward you will not improve. This religion is tainted with people who are judgmental, overbearing, nosy, and hypocritical. Haven't you seen the ravings of governing body member Anthony Morris over men wearing tight pants? It is all over this forum and the Internet. But wait, there's more: Once you are baptized and fully "in", you will only have to continue to try to prove your worth based upon your performance as a JW by increasing your accolades within their org. Even if you manage to reach the esteemed rank of regular pioneer, you will never be fully treated humanely. Women in particular are taught to be submissive to men and their "headship". For example, women are only allowed to utter a verbal prayer (even with their children) if they are not in the presence of a male JW.
Also, you will face constant scrutiny for your clothing, makeup, and hairstyle in and out of the Kingdom Hall. If you dress well, and have good taste, this will attract attention. This is problematic because so few men exist within the religion that single sisters will view you as their competition for a spouse.
The fact is that no enviornment within this so-called religion is healthy or worth another moment of your time. If you are a Christian, please keep looking for a church-home that resonates with you. By all means, run away from those JWs as fast as you can.
