You can imagine how many people could be produced in say 500 years from an original pair. So, the edict does not need to apply to a population living at the exact same time that the mark was placed on Cain.
- just my take
my husband asked me a questions that kind of stumped me for a moment.
he asked, in genesis, when cain killed abel, and god, as punishment cursed him and drove him from the land, making him a restless wanderer, why did cain say to god that the punishment was too hard; that anyone who found him would kill him?
who was going to kill him?

here's mine: i'm 14 years old, just baptised and a old boy married elder of about 60 odd comes up to me and says " ooooooooooh!
"purrpurr"!
your getting such a lovely figure on you!
Circa 1975, an elder stated at the book study that we would be in charge of taming fish in the millennium reign.
I had a really neat dog at the time. I was 12 and taught her several really interesting tricks. It wasn't easy.
I couldn't imagine what it might be like to tame fish. Still can't.
does anybody have any tips for conversation starters to covertly feel out someone in the cong that you suspect is a "knower" about ttat?.
any success or experiences to share?.
How about this:
I recently was challenged by someone to defend the WT's teaching that Jesus isn't the Mediator for the Great Crowd. Since this wasn't a teaching the apostles knew about, how can we explain that we are not under the curse in Galatians:
But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. Gal. 1: 8
like this perhaps?
it is pretty cool after all... .
(i took both of these pics and the difference was, well, obvious!).
in recent years i have come to value our military more and more as time goes by.
as a jw, i was trained to view those in military service as murderers; or misguided fools.
they are true heroes that help bring order to society.
Nice write up on The Theban Legion

In recent years I have come to value our military more and more as time goes by. As a JW, I was trained to view those in military service as murderers; or misguided fools. They are anything but that. They are true heroes that help bring order to society. True, standing armies have not always been on the right side of history, but when they represent a population that values freedom, they are more often than not. Even their very existence encourages people to behave themselves.
I have often thought it strange how the first non-Jew to become a Christian was an active duty Roman army officer - Cornelius. Why I never bothered to question the WT demonization of the military in spite of this fact is beyond me.
Christians were found all over the early Christian world. One legion in particular is fascinating since they were all Christians and were all martyred simply for not denouncing their faith in Jesus. They did not even put up a fight when sentenced. Amazing.

Even John the Baptist didn't ask the soldiers of his time to quit their service. He simple told them to abandon deception and do their jobs honestly:
Luke 3:14 (NKJV)
14 Likewise the soldiers asked him, saying, “And what shall we do?” So he said to them, “Do not intimidate anyone or accuse falsely, and be content with your wages.”
So Cheers to all those in the military that perform their duties. All of them give some, some of them give all.
Where would we be without them?
(matthew 25:31-40) .
.when the son of man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, then he will sit down on his glorious throne.
32 all the nations will be gathered before him, and he will separate people one from another, just as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats.
They could be believers IMO.
Lieu,
Good point. In the traditional view, they will all be believers since Jesus will be here in the flesh as king of the world, after the Anti-Christ is defeated at Armageddon.
The question at that time won't be who believes and who doesn't. The question will be who gets to enter the kingdom on earth under King Jesus and who does not get to enter.
The church is long gone by this time, having been declared righteous by faith and not by works, raptured to heaven and ruling with Christ.
This left-over group, has the opportunity to avoid condemnation based on how they treated (viewed) Israel during the 7 year tribulation.
As King of Israel, Jesus will not allow subversives in.
just let me say, i hate the gray bible.
when i read the revision of mal 3:10 and they included tithing, i almost vomited.
recently though, my invalid mother asked me to read to her and the only thing available was the gray bible.
And the third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, If any man worship the beast and his image, and receive his mark in his forehead, or in his hand, 10The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb: 11And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name. 12Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.
Daniel chapter 12 says:
Multitudes who sleep in the dust of the earth will awake: some to everlasting life, others to shame and everlasting contempt.
While virtually all scholars know that the bible teaches that the soul survives the death of the body and either goes to hades (not gehenna) or to heaven upon departure, a number of respected scholars view the lake of fire and those that (perish) there as being annihilated.
They seem to argue that even though man "cannot kill the soul", as Jesus stated ...God can. In this view, unrepentant souls are eventually annihilated in the Lake of Fire after the Thousand Year Reign, after being judged at the Great White Throne.
Both views are totally different than what the WT teaches.
Diogenesister,
leah rimini spent a lot of money before she ditched her cult: .

At least the WT didn't send me a bill when I left!
