  was on the bus today and got into a discussion somehow with the driver and ok be ood his work colleagues about whether there's life in other planets, evolution and creation.

  the driver believes there must be other life out there, i agree with him that life can't be unique to this planet out of the billions that exist.

  his colleague who i think might be a jw by his attitude and reasoning skills thinks we're the only planet with life on it and it was made perfect and exact purposely for humans.

  How would you have argued this topic if you were In the conversation?

  Physical life forms may be unique to earth, maybe not. There is a difference between what we can test and replicate here, in the present; and that which we can theorize about far away or in the past.
  
  Present Science deals with current facts. Even if they are subject to world views, confirmation bias, and other selection criteria.
  
  Theoretical Science deals with beliefs and assumptions.
  
  The nice thing about freedom is that we are free to believe whatever we want. But theoretical science, is not science in the way most people think of as established-fact-observable-repeatable "present science".

  in the genocidal instructions supposedly given by god we find this interesting command: “now kill all the boys.

  and kill every woman who has slept with a man, but save for yourselves every girl who has never slept with a man.” (numbers 31:17, 18).

  in the midst of killing and plundering, how were the israelites to determine whether each girl “has slept with a man” or not?.

  Venus, there are a lot of misconceptions about this event. Once those are cleared up, it still may be shocking to modern sensibilities.

  But at least this fills out the picture... getting to the actual ethics involved.

  This search engine and topic index is the best I'VE FOUND , in researching the items you have listed. You may not find every objection overcome but many misconceptions will be revealed when viewed in their historical context.

  This is likely to try and ensure that bible-believing Christians are not Criminalized for their faith. In other words, fulfilling campaign promises.
  
  The nation was founded by people who were persecuted (criminalized) for having Christian faith that was not connected to a larger organization. They wanted a society free from the heavy hand of a state church, Roman Catholicism or even some future ideology.
  
  So there is a foundational history here that rings well with many voters.
  
  Small congregational-run fellowships, with the New Testament as their final authority was what the founders sought to elevate in the New World.

  The first political document from the New World - the Mayflower Compact makes this clear:

  "For the glorie of God and advancement of ye Christian faith, we do... ...covenant and combine ourselves together into a civil body politick...to enact,... and frame... just and equal laws...for the general good of the Colonie, unto which we promise all due submission and obedience."

  nothing new but i gently pointed it out to her as a reminder that bible reading can be hazardous to your mental health!.

  Everyone has a starting point. That starting point sifts data accordingly as the two evolutionists above admit, to their credit.

  After I left the .org I spent a few years researching various topics, including evolution. And, I just didn't see the evidence stack up enough. I spot check my position now and then and I still come up with the same skepticism on evolution, only usually stronger. I still have one or two questions that don't seem to fit. But by far there are more problems with the standard Materialist paradigm than with ID in my opinion.

  If 99% of what makes up a specimen is missing already when we examine just the bones; And, if those bones are not indistinguishable from at least some modern humans ....? Where's the beef?

  Apes, many of which have already gone extinct, admittedly have a structure similar to that of humans. But this could just as easily point to a common Designer and not a common ancestor, depending on the "framework" of the researcher. And, with 99% of the specimen missing, I just don't see the justification for all the ape to men characterizations.

  New discoveries are being made at an amazing pace, the majority of which do not fit the standard evolutionary model from what I've seen. The last link I posted above lists thousands of findings, that if any one of them are true, destroys the standard evolutionary tale.
  
  This is a list of 3000 Phd scientists who are skeptical of darwinian evolution.

  And, I do understand how disturbing this information is to some who have already been deceived at great personal cost by the Watchtower.
