The amount of effort spent by atheists, agnostics & heretics in confusing the simple issue of Salvation/Resurrection of Jesus strongly reminds me of EXHAUSTING Watchtower efforts to do THE EXACT SAME THING. Only instead of denying the resurrection, they focus on telling people that the Age of Grace (gentile times) are over. Furthermore they reason, since the Age of Grace is over, people must now put faith in an organization instead of Christ Alone as the object of faith. Of course, this disqualifies them from the Salvation Jesus offers and definitely qualifies as putrid IDOLATRY.

Sorry to use such strong language, but I am deeply embarrassed how I used to fall over mere men like the elders and governing body in my vain efforts to be good enough for God to save. What a complete wast of time....but I digress.

The Watchtower spent vast amounts of time, resources and many books from the 40's through the 80's to convince people of ONE THING. And I quote the title of one of the main discourses given at the 1958 International Convention in NYC Yankee Stadium:

THE GENTILE TIMES HAVE ENDED. GOD'S KINGDOM RULES!

Now why was it so all important for them to teach that the Age of Grace (latter gentile times) was over ? Easy. If the AGE of GRACE is over, then the offer of salvation and the doctrine of JUSTIFICATION is out the door with it. Justification is an accounting term that means that there is no debt owed.

Romans 8: 30 - and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified.

Watchtower 1938 p. 104, 105 - The ... other sheep are in a different position... They are still human creatures, not even justified.

The deception employed to shut down Jesus offer for salvation is staggering. It is like Satan saw the Church Age gaining momentum and he went all out to try and shut it down.

Why not apply this same standard to yourself? You have been working on a thesis that the whole Christian religion was invented by Paul out of thin air decades after the events happened, especially the resurrection upon which the whole thing is based.

When presented with scholarly evidence to the contrary, you completely ignore it and either talk about pot bellies or just tell everyone (especially me) to just believe whatever you want. I'm cool with that; but I would MUCH rather you actually respond to an honest critique of your ideas.

Why so many atheists, agnostics and heretics seem to be consumed with rewriting the accounts surrounding Jesus is the REAL story here. It is just fascinating to me.

You have spent probably a year rewriting what some critics (who cannot be taken seriously) say about Salvation. Isn't it obvious? Here it is in a nut shell without all the pseudo intellectualism:

A guy performed lots of miracles and fulfilled hundreds of prophecies written long before. Then, he was murdered by leaders but came back to life three days later showing himself to hundreds of people. People wanted to be able to keep living like this man did and either not die or be resurrected as they had just witnessed.

And that's it Doug. Just like people today, People don't want to die. Simple. That's what Salvation is all about ...eternal security.

After the events, and at great personal cost (family shunning or worse), those eye-witnesses and many others put faith in the man Jesus because they had good reason to. Like anyone with any sense they reasoned that they could either keep living or be resurrected since they had seen it done with their own eyes. You simply cannot divorce Salvation from the Resurrection.

That is what makes your attempts to ignore clear evidence contrary to your assertions so egregious. Lots of scholars know that the foundational Christian events were recorded and believed to have taken place in Jerusalem at about the same time that they are purported to have taken place.... as I posted.

If you are bound and determined to remain an unbeliever, it is simply not necessary for you to resort to the recesses of denial (or pot-bellies). Your determined unbelief will not be threatened by just accepting what other scholarly unbelievers also concede to.

Pain and suffering were here long before the Christian era. Asceticism is a heretical idea unknown to Christians. Christian Freedom is the opposite of what you describe.

I know that we have all been subjected to some of the most profound ignorance and petty allegiances ever devised on planet earth. But the depravity of our previous (Wt) idol has little to do with the real thing.

All things are lawful for me, but all things are not expedient [good for you]: all things are lawful for me, but all things edify not. - 1 Cor. 10: 23

In Christ, the love for God and love for neighbor is written on hearts. Most of the rules are just gone. Some things may turn out to be worthless that we pursue, but they are not illegal and do not threaten salvation like the Wt taught.

I am a proponent of the Christian faith, the real one. Not the one passed down in my family by my great grandmother and then on to her many daughters who in turn oppressed their husbands and children with WT idolatry for generations.

Secularists today want the stability that Christianity has brought to the West with precepts such as :

1. Loving your neighbor as yourself.

2. Turning the other cheek when possible

3. Loving (having empathy) for your enemies

3. Giving consideration for the least among us (the poor)

4. Honesty

I've noticed that secularists like these things because they create a more stable society conducive to health and wealth. But, they want the Tree without the root system. They are like a man who sees a tree in a forest of ideas and wishes to transplant it to his own property. He proceeds to remove only the portion he can see, cutting it at ground level. He is gravely disappointed when it withers and dies.

The root of Western Freedom is Christ himself....who gave us freedom from unnecessary rules and freedom from death itself.

If I could help that gentleman in that picture, it is this -- in October 2016 I too had a pot belly, weighing in at 110.5 kilos. Within 6 months I had dropped 33 kilos and I have kept it off ever since. If he wants to know the secret, tell him to contact me and I will tell him what worked for me.

Doug, attacking the man in a personal way and just regurgitating denial proclamations without supporting reasoning is beneath you.

As the clip convincing illustrates, the Christian Belief System can be traced to AT MOST no later than six months (some concede 2-3 years) after the Crucifixion event. Prominent non-christian scholars agree with this. This is established fact Doug. Why are you not getting this?

There was an empty tomb discovered on the third day. Fact.

As the event spread throughout the Roman empire, even Caesar was moved to threaten those who would "steal bodies". Rome wanted their executed enemies to stay dead.

This event radically changed the course of world history to the point that all nations now count time by this man's life.

Death doesn't have to be permanent Doug. Open your mind and heart.

Normal humans move away from pain and discomfort. They also move toward something perceived as beneficial. This is called motivation direction. One repels, one pulls.

Imagining some sort of mass instantaneous masochist indulgence on the part of diverse, previously unconnected people is far more far-fetched than believing they were telling the truth about being eyewitnesses to the miracles and resurrection. Even his enemies conceded that his miracles were real. (hostile witnesses)

Convinced that they had found the solution for death, having witnessed the death and resurrection... they simply saw no downside in telling others about it, since death had no hold on them.

Why would anyone create a Creator-God whom humbled himself, washed people’s feet, rode a donkey, allowed himself to be spit on, stripped naked, beat beyond recognition, & nailed to a tree until dead... for the express purpose of being displayed in utter humiliation? Why would anyone worship a God like that in the midst of all the powerful, strike-you-down-with-lightening-bolts gods like Zeus to choose from?

Why would his disciples gladly choose death rather than simply stop talking about him so much? Hmmm, Unless they were eye-witnesses to his miracles and resurrection.

Time to get real Doug.

more than 70% of researchers have tried and failed to reproduce another scientist's experiments, and more than half have failed to reproduce their own experiments.

i didn't know it was so widespread...but it's a big problem in biology/medicine..

Here is an interesting article on bogus science.

I am fascinated by those whose lives have been devastated by a cult, who then run toward anything characterized as "science" and swallow the next idea with equal fevor and gullibility.

Real science is good stuff, it's just not done nearly as often as we would like and certainly is easily confused with bogus science by most.

In the 20th century, tobacco companies paid millions and receive peer reviewed papers showing scientifically how cigarette smoking was not linked to cancer. We are starting to see the same results oriented studies about marijuana smoking since its regional legalization.
