is there any independently verified evidence that a miracle worker called jesus existed and did the things that the bible said he did?.
the four gospels were written by unknown authors many decades after the so called events, so can't be considered as eyewitness accounts.

About a year ago, when someone said Watchtower would fall because Jesus is tearing it down at Jehovah's command, no one believed it. They said it was practically impossible.
A lot has changed in a year.
When Watchtower is dissolved, will you still deny that Jesus had it torn down?
What about when you see the governments dissolved?
Are you going to wait until you actually see Jesus in the flesh? (He is coming back again in a materialized body.)
Will you wait until then? You can if you want to. But in my opinion, you'll be happier if you get some things taken care of now. He is showing up whether you are ready or not. By "getting some things taken care of" I don't mean physical things. I just mean that all of us have stuff we are working on as regards our relationships and lifestyle. When we didn't know Jehovah or Jesus, we lived a certain way.
When Jehovah was coming to visit Mount Sinai, the people washed their clothes and cleaned up a bit.
If you have a heads up that company is coming, it's kind of nice.
for those who still believe in god and the bible, how do you feel/think about the name jehovah now?
i am one who never wanted to bring reproach on god's name.
i will admit using the word jehovah now makes me feel rather icky...like i am promoting a lie of sorts.
I am not against using God's name in different forms, or Jesus' name in different forms.
There have been times that I have just signed "JH" in ASL when talking to Jehovah.
It's not the pronunciation that counts. When I pray to God silently, He still knows I'm talking to Him.

Moses was taught in all the language and writing of the Egyptians.
Aaron lived in Egypt his whole life up to the point of the Exodus.
Those men went in to Pharaoh and spoke to him about Jehovah the God of the Hebrews.
They used Jehovah's name in Egyptian.
God's name translated into Egyptian hieroglyphics can be found at the Temple of Soleb in Sudan dating from prior to 1300 BC. It's a translation and not just a transliteration of the Tetragrammaton. If it was a transliteration, there would be two of the same glyphs. But instead, there are four different glyphs: π π π ±π―

(Incidentally, @Duran, there is no "v" in Egyptian hieroglyphics, but that didn't stop Jehovah from making His name known to Pharaoh. In Egyptian. Before Pharaoh died for being an unrepentant stiff-necked opposer of "He Who Causes To Become.")
"How do you feel about the use of the name Jehovah now?"
"Call on Jehovah, while He is near!"
"The day of Jehovah is near, and He is making an accounting!"
"Repent, and call on the name of Jehovah, that seasons of refreshing may come and peaceπthrough Christ Jesus, the Son of Jehovah God and the appointed savior of all those putting faith in him."

Perhaps you have read this verse before:
"A revelation by Jesus Christ, which God gave him, to show his slaves the things that must shortly take place. And he sent his angel and presented it in signs..."
What exactly are these "signs"? They are word pictures.
In a court of law, how is evidence presented? Most evidence is presented in words.
Words are a form of "signs." Language itself is not "tangible" in the same way that physical items you can touch are tangible. You can measure sound and speed and inflection, but the way language works is by symbolizing something else.
I can tell you you're about to be run over by a bus, but if you don't want to heed the warning, it doesn't matter how much I tell you about the evidence I've seen. If you want to stand in the road, you're going to stand in the road.

@Smye said: My opinion is this: the name Jehovah is one of the hundreds of possible combinations for the Tetragrammaton. But even if it was the 'correct' one, Jesus opened up our view of God into what we now know as the Holy Trinity. Sticking to the Name so exclusively after Christ is basically heresy, as it implicitly (or explicitly in the case of JWs) denies the Trinitarian God by focusing solely on the Father. In any case, the Name was exclusively used (or not so much) by the Jews before Christ. It was never used by Christ or the apostles, despite what the JWs claim. Lastly, the obsession of JWs with using it in every second sentence, even if we leave aside the Trinity, is a gross violation of the Third Commandment.
You are slandering Jesus.
Jesus said "Let your name be sanctified." "I have made your name known and will make it known."
The Revelation to John was through Jesus and used the name of Jehovah throughout. Even though enemies of God sought to erase His name from the manuscripts those enemies were too stupid to erase it from the "Hallelujah" portions of that book.
Enemies of God are stupid. You can't fight against Jehovah and win. It's not possible. It's actually really ridiculous to watch, and that's why it says at Psalm 2 that Jehovah laughs at them.
Jesus' name means "Jehovah is Salvation." Jesus wants us to worship Jehovah.
I wouldn't want to be in the shoes of someone who is making false statements about Jesus or Jehovah. Not cool. Not wise.
Just sayin'.

It only makes sense that there wasn't an English version of Jehovah's name until recent centuries, since there wasn't an English language until recent centuries. π
on february 22, 2023, anthony morris iii was officially removed from the governing body of jehovah's witnesses.
a few months later it was revealed that the watchtower bought him a house in lumberton, north carolina.. however, and correct me if i am wrong, since leaving the gb nobody has reported seeing tony attending jw meetings or participating in field service.
in fact nobody has reported seeing him anywhere, not even at a local liquor store.

But as to the WT falling fast, my opinion is that you're sadly mistaken. The "tens of billions" in the Ireland assets management scheme will keep them going for a lot longer than we have years to live, most likely.Much wishful thinking and conspiracy mongering will not bring the WT down any time soon.
Have you ever been on a farm or a homestead? π©π©π© piles are a way of life. Just because there's π©π©π© around doesn't mean there is anger.
We are made of dust. If you eat, then you also π©π©π©.
Stop whining. It's not becoming, and it just makes you look like you're hiding something too.
Jehovah is exposing the WT. Their pyramid is built on π©π©π© and it will fall.
If you're complaining about Jehovah's plagues now, then you really won't like what's coming next. I suggest you cut your ties with that WT organization and get the heck out of Dodge.

@joeyjojo said: There seems to be a point where a seemingly rational person becomes irrational when it comes to faith. If you are broadly the same religion as your parents, or identify as a member of your national religion, it means you accepted what you were told by parents and peers.
Believing a man named Jesus, Mohammed, or whoever once existed is one thing, but basing your way of life on it and insisting your children do the same is madness if you boil it down. Just because something is old doesn't make it right.
All of our parents made mistakes, they were not perfect and all-knowing. So why are they automatically right about the subject of religion?
You make sweeping assertions that are incorrect and then you attempt to build on them. That type of building work does not stand.
In my personal experience, I was not raised reading the Bible. I read Anne Rice. I had extra schooling in ancient Egyptian religious teachings from a young age. I learned about Canopic jars and The Book of the Dead way before I learned the first book of the Bible was Genesis. (I didn't know the first book of the Bible was Genesis until I was 24 years old. To me, Genesis was a band with Phil Collins.)
As a youth, I lived for a time in the Salem Massachusetts area and learned a lot about witchcraft. We watched a lot of spiritistic and violent entertainment growing up. That was what I learned about, not the Bible.
Mythology, fantasy, immorality and violence were what I learned about growing up.
It wasn't until later in life that I really learned about Jehovah and Jesus and the Bible. My mom had been around the Watchtower when I was very young, but we didn't go all the time, and then she was disfellowshipped when I was about seven or so years old.
Anyway, my point in sharing that is that your logic doesn't pan out. Ancient Egyptian mystery rites are old, and as you said, just because it's old doesn't make it right.
But at the same time, the earth is old and it is real. The sun is old and it is real. Jesus is old and he is real. Jehovah is outside of time and He is more Real than anything on this earth or in this universe.
Not all of our parents made mistakes. Jesus has never made a mistake, and he came to stand in Adam's place as our first father. If we are wise, we will look to him for truth. He's never lied to anyone.
Have you?

@Vidqun said: If you reject the scriptures it will be to your detriment.
@Touchofgrey said: Why do you have to resort to threatening speak to make your point.
Vidqun's words weren't a threat. He was just stating the obvious.
If a person feels threatened by truth, it's because that "threatened" person's conscience is bothering them. It has nothing to do with the person who stated the truth, although the typical response from a person who is in denial is to blame the messenger.
If you feel "the point" maybe you should move out of the way of the sword.
