False prophets with other religions
by lostsheep82 ini remember when i was young an article we studied that stated something to the effect that, religions or other people have at times set dates or tried to set dates using chronology but that those were deemed false prophets.... can anyone point me to any or multiple articles or quotes that can help me in my fight with my parents?
i'm battling the 1914 generation change at the moment.

UK: Time to punish the Covid 19 PROFITEERS!
by BoogerMan inlaws have been very quickly created in order to oppress & suppress uk citizens' basic freedoms and rights, while profiteering - thanks to the mantra of "supply & demand" - is allowed to flourish with nothing being done by the government to penalise companies who are more than likely reducing production of ppe in order to inflate their prices.
(oil companies have done likewise for years) .
"apart from actually finding the equipment, there are other problems.

Welcome Aldous. Good to hear that your eyes opened up to the fact that it's not "God's organization.
Take things nice and easy and beware of wolves in sheep's clothing. You have a P.M.

Thunderous Applause Around The Stadium
by Number 6 ingrowing up in the 70's and 80's in the jw religion who remembers the massive stadium gigs the watchtower used to hold?.
we used to denounce false religion in the starkest of terms.
we were right and by god we were letting anyone who listened know it.

In the cold light of day, many now realise that it was effectively nothing more than a "tribal identity" - a sense of belonging to a greater community. Birds of a feather....
All religions - as well as sports fans - have the same sense of tribalism/belonging. "We're the best."

In love with disfellowshipped JW
by Amberlou ini started dating a coworker who is a divorced jw.
found out he was disfellowshipped, and he was trying to figure out how to make things work.
i am not a jw, and his family is not supportive of the relationship.

Welcome Amberlou. My advice to you is this: if you continue down this road, it will only get harder and more stressful. You may want children in your marriage, but do you really want to see your offspring indoctrinated and marginalised by a cult which will exclude them from normal, everyday pursuits like sports & higher education?
Listen to the alarm bells now, and don't wait until you are in a divorce court arguing over custody of the kid/s.
As someone who has researched, woken up & escaped, I can assure you that JW's should be avoided at all costs.
If you'd like any information/questions to ask your boyfriend, I'll gladly PM them to you.

For those who are STILL believing Christians...
by BoogerMan inthe latest watchtower of august 2020 discusses on page 15, "how will the resurrection likely take place?".
since learning real truths as opposed to the org's version of truth, has your view of the resurrection changed significantly?
just one example - regardless of psalm 37:9,11,29: matthew 5:5 & revelation 21:3,4, do you now believe that our destination is heaven rather than earth?.

To those NON-Christians who can't read English properly, the post title actually says, "For those who are STILL believing Christians." A is for apple, B is for boy, C is for cat.
If your life is so boring & meaningless that you have to ridicule & then hijack a post for no other reason than it doesn't fit with your thinking, then post something yourself - something that truly interests you. Can't you just ignore posts about beliefs which upset your tender little sensibilities?
As members, you are expected to behave in a friendly & tolerant fashion - according to the site's headline banner. Maybe you can't read that either.
I can now see why "believing" members don't want to contribute to topics such as this, due to the playground bullies amongst you who want to shout them down with your snide comments.

Welcome to the increased fines if you or your loved ones are caught visiting each other in your own homes. The screw is turning! Even North Korea isn't this dictatorial!
But of course only the sheep get fined - not the leaders who impose the laws for others to obey. Suckers!

LOL. Every human "right" you had 18 weeks ago has been taken away with your full blessing and approval - in order to allegedly "save the NHS and to save lives."
The NHS is underwhelmed. The SEC in Glasgow which was converted into the NHS Lousia Jordan Hospital, has not had ONE patient, so why are thousands of people still being denied necessary hospital appointments and operations?
Will you all gladly accept more house-arrest when the'flu season starts? The NHS & lives will have to be saved yet again, won't they?
Those who embrace the mass-hysteria and propaganda are only too ready to assail those who challenge the official narrative. The same people probably believed in Saddam's WMD.
