  The Cost of 'The Truth'

  just thinking ..... having read posts from youknow concerning the impending financial destruction of the system it strikes me that he and other witnesses have a very strong desire for the system to end even looking for ways in which it could happen.

  they will clutch at any straw, salivating at the prospect of their imagined reward.. at the meetings last year at the time of the petrol crisis in the uk witnesses were eager to discuss the possibility that this was the start of the tribulation, there was a real buzz of excitement that this could be it!

  now ... the question is this, does the 'truth' cost you your humanity because not one of them gave a stuff for their neighbours, worldly friends, relatives or even any of the people in the street.

  After being born and raised in the borg...and finally getting out of a very unloving cult and breaking free, I must also admit that the WTS takes people's humanity away. Definately.

  Deep Impact

  has anybody seen the film deep impact?

  it was about the possible destruction of the world by an asteroid and it came out at about the same time as the film armageddon.

  the reason i ask is because this film had a very profound effect on me whilst i was still associating with the congregation.

  Mormons phoned for the last time - I hope

  i had a follow up phone call from the mormons today wanting to arrange for house visit no.

  2. the first visit had been a game where i asked questions and they wriggled about a bit so as not to address them -- it brought back dub memories, i'm telling you.. it went like this.... who will survive the world's judgement day?

  only mormons and exceptional individuals.. how about me?

  Reading those few paragraphs you wrote was spooky. The language is identical to the WTS publications....come on, were you in the writing department? :-)

  Seriously though, I'd love to see you continue what you started above, and make it into an entire article....better yet, why not make it an entire Watchtower? Then, we can also go out in...ahem...service...and place these with active JWs. LOL

  i was raised as a jw.

  i do believe that what they call a religion is in fact, child abuse and mere brainwashing.

  i have since left, but rements of this cult still haunt me today.

  Reprints of Rutherfords books...

  does anyone know if any companies are reprinting rutherfords books?

  i can get reprints of russell's stuff but i'm after some of rutherfords books.. i heard there is a cd out with all his books on there.

  any truth to that?

  during the sunday morning discourse, "jehovah hates the course of treachery" the following statement was made at the 2001 teacher's of god's word district convention of jehovah's witnesses: .

  "are we personally alert that no unrighteousness be found on our lips?

  for example, can our family members, including our mate really trust what we say?

  Excellent post TD,

  If the WTS only practiced what it preached. Unfortunately, part of the problem is that members either don't remember or never knew the WTS past and what had been stated in past publications, so when they make statements (even in magazines) that contradict old ones, they may very well think that they are being truthfull.

  There's a saying that goes something like this:
  Those who don't know their history are bound to repeat it.

  So sad...
