  to make it easier for the out of towners (especially the ones driving in from the us), how does everyone feel about having our next get together on a saturday...say saturday, august 18th, starting at 4pm?

  To make it easier for the out of towners (especially the ones driving in from the US), how does everyone feel about having our next get together on a Saturday...say Saturday, August 18th, starting at 4PM? (I'll be working on the 11th and the 25th...)

  The out of towners can have all morning and early afternoon to drive in to Toronto, then stay overnight (if they wish to) and return home on Sunday afternoon.

  And who knows...maybe some of us will also meet up with them on Sunday morning too!

  I'll send an e-mail with the actual location, to all those interested.

  when i was a witness:.

  i used to think they were materialistic, wordly and didn't raise their kids right.. i used to tell my non-jw husband that if he didn't come to the meetings that we wouldn't be together forever.

  i'd say that when he'd say something like "i'll love you forever".

  I didn't treat my mom very nice when I was a witness, and I kept trying to convert her and tell her she was wrong for not being a witness anymore (she had left the borg when I was very young).

  Well, once I read Ray Franz's books and I realized that I had been living a lie, it was humbling to admit to her that I had been wrong. It was the same thing with my relatives...which made me realize just how non-judgmental all these "wordly" people were for letting me be myself (even though I was judging them and sometimes not wanting to talk to them) while I was in the borg, and how nice they actually were as persons.

  By the way, my favourite Mae West quote is from a 1932 movie she was in when she said, "Honey, when I'm good, I'm good...but when I'm bad, I'm better!"

  PS. Pierced Angel, I don't know if you saw my question to you in another post, but I was wondering if a Saturday afternoon/evening get together in Toronto would be easier for you since you have to drive a long way. You can e-mail me privately at [email protected].

  i've posted in the past under the nic, "doubting sister", but i'm no longer doubtful.

  i'm totally convinced, the witnesses are just another religion like any other.

  actually, i consider them a cult, but i think many religions have cultish tendencies anyhow, so i'll refrain from calling them that for now.. because of this site i've been able to see things more clearly and i'm feeling better about leaving.

  I added your e-mail address to my list of ex-JWs near Toronto that I'll notify when we decide on the next get together.

  How many hours will it take you to drive in to Toronto? (Where do you live?) Would it be easier if we have the get together on a Saturday afternoon/evening so that you can drive in Saturday morning, then stay overnight in Toronto and return on Sunday?

  Let me know.

  This is also for you OutnFree...would a weekend be better for you, since you're driving in from Michigan?

  GodRules...try reading In Search of Christian Freedom and see if you're not affected by what Ray says in there. You'll realize that he's being truthfull once you start reading it. He has no reason to lie, because the lies would get found out right away. He quotes from the WTS's own publications, as well as the bible, and historical records.

  Read it if you dare!
