My first memoir of a life as a born in.
by ctrwtf inwith no guarantees as to performance, i'm going to attempt to regularly address in memoir form some of the issues that i think about as a born in that has faded.
i will try to do so on a (semi) regular basis.
like proust and his madelienes, i've noticed that certain experiences trigger memories about the cult that just won't go away.

With no guarantees as to performance, I'm going to attempt to regularly address in memoir form some of the issues that I think about as a born in that has faded. I will try to do so on a (semi) regular basis. Like Proust and his madelienes, I've noticed that certain experiences trigger memories about the cult that just won't go away. The first memory I wish to discuss deals with education.
Last night, the dear wife and I attended a meeting of new parents whose children are attending a small private school.
Now, before you think this is some elitist crap, let me say that the DW and I are working stiffs that are doing without to help our kid make it through the zoo that is high school. Most of the parents that were there are in the same boat, trying to give their kids a leg up in this world, which leads to my point...
Both the DW and I remember being indoctrinated as to the uselessness of "worldly" education. She took an early graduation at 16 and went straight into pioneering. I vividly recall listing in a High School questionnaire that my aspirations were to become a janitor. Can you believe that? It's a miracle that I remember "i before e except after c." Looking back, all I can think about is how deluded and privileged we thought we were.
Anyway, here's the kicker. Post-fade the DW earned a Bachelors in psychology and is working towards a Masters. She's also using her education to help kids that are in desperate situations. She regularly thinks about the years she spent trying to indoctrinate people into a cult, and how her life now is much, much more fulfilling. While I'm a member of the tribe of the great unwashed and under-educated, I'm happy to support my loved ones that are working hard to make the world a better place. Did I mention that my other kid is an RN? So much for the teaching that when you leave the "truth" your life goes off the rails.
Yet there are still people "in" that think the best way to live life is by attracting others to a publishing corporation by spending countless hours in front of a literatrash cart as the disinterested pass by. Go figure.
Until I taste the next madeliene,

Are you sad or angry?
by raven inafter exiting the org, i mean cult, how have each of you felt personally about the lies you had been taught, the hurt from feeling betrayed by these people, actual hopes of once believed false teachings, rose colored lenses of seemingly just and right doctrines that turned out to be a bunch of horse $#!+, the shunning of family and friends?
right now i am going through the motions, i've just moved to a new home, which means hopefully no more elders searching for me at my previous address.. i can't help but feel sad though right now because of the fact that although i am not df'd ( maybe the elders will do it in absentia assuming i've been avoiding them and the 2 jc's they've invited me to as well as the last handwritten letter at my door before i moved ) my mom treats me as though i am dead to her, she says " i am living the life of a disfellowshipped person, and until i come back to jehovah this is how things will be because this was my choice to leave jehovah " ok i get it, but i don't- everyone has free will, so yes this was my choice but it is also her choice to shun me, especially after the "shun unrepentant wrongdoers" talk at the rc, funny how they come out with these talks to reel members back in.. she claims that she has an obligation to jehovah of which she promised to him after she was baptized not at 11, 13, or 17 ( young ages ) but fricken 26 years old.
i absolutely hate this organization and everything that it is, it's taken away my family and most importantly my own mother.. i always thought that a mothers love was to be unconditional, but hers for me is only conditional.

My two cents....anger is a more productive emotion. Because you are also correct in your beliefs and conclusions regarding the cult, Righteous anger is even better. Let it guide you to write off the emotional baggage that comes with leaving the cult and move on to people and things that you have no need to be angry with or sad about.

Why are the least informed people the most opinionated?
by Coded Logic inwhile trying to have a conversation with a trump supporter today i realized the person knew next to nothing about the us constitution, world events, trumps flip-flops, hillary's e-mails, etc.. i have sense decided it is much easier to do absolutely no research and boldly make broad proclamations rather than read up on a particular topic and make concise points.
as such, i will now be telling you why tim kaine was the worst governor new jersey has ever had:.
under tim kaine new jersey gdp dropped by 97%.. humming birds were able to penetrate restricted airspace.. the bridge to missouri kept getting closed.. he made the state look weak by having a state flower.. all the hard working i-pad miners lost their jobs.. and he set up obamacare death panels that were run by isis in planned parenthood vegan centers..

JW as a secret society - a weak link in the Information Age.
by slimboyfat inin the late 1990s there was magazine article that asked the question, are jws a secret society?
obviously they said no, because they claim to be transparent to outsiders and new members.
but they really are not transparent at all.

Why does a "transparent" organization have to resort to linguistic legerdemain regarding shunning and blood transfusions on their own website?

Speaking of under-informed voters. Tim Kaine was never the governor of New Jersey. He was the governor of Virginia however.
Thomas Keane was a governor of New Jersey and a republican, not a democrat.
Just sayin,
