Faded for almost 10 years and still getting random calls
by ctrwtf inhi all, just wondering if anyone is in the same boat.
wifey and i dropped off the face of the jw planet almost a decade ago and still get 3 or 4 visits a year mostly when we are not dressed or expecting visitors.
it's really annoying because we are both wondering why they don't get the hint already.. we don't want to move because we really enjoy where we live and both have careers that keep us in the area.. i've asked politely that they stop calling but like the "godfather" they keep "pulling me in.".

Happy To Report
by ctrwtf inon my commute past 25 columbia heights, i noticed that the large 25'x25' jworg sign has come down.. i'm sure the sentiments of the entire brooklyn heights neighborhood are something like, "don't let the door hit you on the way out.

Oasis Bible Tours?
by ctrwtf ini've just discovered (on instagram) this group that leads the gullible on "faith strengthening" tours of the met.. i wondered what would happen if any member of the tour group brought up that the museum has on display artifacts that clearly throw off the timeline of the story of eden and two magically appearing humans.. http://www.metmuseum.org/about-the-met/curatorial-departments/egyptian-art.
i found that once i abandoned the wits, my visits to the met became more inspiring because i began to really look at the human endeavor and spirit of the artists and what they created over tens of thousands of years.
while not particularly religious at this point in my life, i can still be awstruck by the vast collection of paintings, sculptures and jewelry that were inspired by religious belief.. i think it's incredibly sleazy that these tour operators take advantage of an institution like the met when the religion they support calls for the destruction of these works of art as well as the entire human existence that created it.

My first memoir of a life as a born in.
by ctrwtf inwith no guarantees as to performance, i'm going to attempt to regularly address in memoir form some of the issues that i think about as a born in that has faded.
i will try to do so on a (semi) regular basis.
like proust and his madelienes, i've noticed that certain experiences trigger memories about the cult that just won't go away.

Strange doings at the Market
by ctrwtf inso i recently made a trip back to my home town to visit some extended family still in.
the whole trip was very awkward.
for a whole bunch of reasons i won't bore you with, we stayed in a hotel near where the family lives, maybe as kind of a barrier to being in constant contact with the cult mentality.. being a very early riser, i went to the grocery to pick up a few things.

Is it persecution or just a poor decision?
by ctrwtf injust been thinking about the "persecution" video where the modern day "job" loses everything.
here's an alternative narrative.. instead of turning down the salary job in the next town over, our hero takes the job even though it's a tough commute.
he is still able to contribute in a meaningful way to his "ministry.

Why are some that post here JW apologists?
by ctrwtf inmy rant tonight is against the quasi religious apologists that post on this board.
those who at once rail against the jw's then later talk about how "orderly" and "neat" the witnesses are at their conventions.
those who site the benefits of bloodless surgery to some who have the luxury and time to actually make an educated choice, while ignoring the tens of thousands who've died because they happen to be in an accident or succumb to a disease for which there is no other treatment.. i understand the power of cognitive dissonance.
