SKE, and other acronymic crap
by MTSman inso, i was sort of forced to spend time with my uber-in parents.
they went on gushing about the website, and the new business cards they have to give out to busy people.

Tell your parents you've joined the VAA. When they give you a puzzled look tell them to look it up!

Don't you think that some people are just better off within the org?
by paradiseseeker inthis is my first post, i will introduce myself later.
first of all, i must say that english is not my mother tongue (i'm spanish), so excuse me if i make any mistake.. do you think that some people simply can't cope with being outside the jws?
some of them are too worldlyphobic to be around non-jws, too dependent on a fixed set of rules in order to carry on with their lives, too dependent on the hope of paradise and resurrection, too unable to leave their personal comfort zone within the organization.

Smoking is an immense source of comfort for those addicted to nicotine. Smokers describe it as a social blanket that keeps them warm when stressed by the trials of the day.
Just because a practice makes someone "feel better" doesn't mean they are better off continuing the same.

Billions die because fruit was eaten. Please think about this.
by pleaseresearch incounties once at war with one another can forgive and move on.
even horrible murderers who killed the family members of someone can be forgiven for the act that they did.. but god, no no no.
no such thing can happen.

What Made You Decide To Finally Leave The Organization?
by minimus inwas there one certain event or was it more a cumulative thing?.

I remember going over the "questions" in the Lamp Book.at the age of 12. After all, armageddon was nigh.
Later on, I felt bad because I just got dunked, never having gone to JG in prayer and dedicating my life to do his will. Who knows, maybe this is my loophole? At 16 I recall telling my dad, the PO at the time, that I didn't agree with all the wacky teachings, (the UN, the numerology, the shifting dates, the blood doctrine) but thought it was the "best way of living." Oddly enough that didn't even phase him. I think he agreed. Toward the end of his life, although we never spoke of it, I could see his doubts.
In adulthood, I really grappled with the murder of billions so JG could prove himself right. Serving as an elder, I had a front row seat to the backstabbing, self serving, even criminal behavior of fellow elders. I began to see how my kids were being forced to do something they didn't want and that was pretty much the last straw.
In answer to your question, it was definitely cumulative and took decades. Thanks to the internet, now people can find out immediately that their doubts and concerns are valid. Perhaps this will embolden some to leave more quickly.

Pacifism is Morally Indefensible
by cofty ini have been surprised recently to see so much support by ex-jws for the watchtower's refusal to fight and kill.
in my opinion it is a vice masquerading as a virtue.
of course war should always be a last resort but there are occasions that it has to be done.

I agree. Ex-JW's (self included from time to time) suffer from a form of PTSD when they feel the need to defend an opinion or position that they once held as axiomatic.
The reality is that absolute pacifism is not an option in the world we live in. There are principles worth fighting and dying for.

Check out the NYTimes article this week, Apparently the air force believes in aliens as well. Or at least UFO's.
Not so silly after all.......

Whole families leaving the Org has increased
by pomo6780 ini have noticed in the uk a few families i used to know while in the borg have exited together.
some include former elders and ministerial servants.
i observed on social media pages that the kids have 'worldly' boyfriends and girlfriends and they look so much happier than they did in the org.

My whole family left. I missed alot of meetings for work. After awhile work became an excuse to miss more meetings. Collectively we awoke to TTATT. I remember sitting in the living room and discussing how we all felt and then we just stopped attending. Went to one memorial in 2008. That was it. Never been back and never will go back.

Isn't that suit a little tight fitting? Maybe Losch likes it that way.
