the world news media is on a feeding frenzy whipping up so called 'anti-terrorist'* retoric to silly levels.
(*one mans terrorist is another mans freedom fighter .. nelson mandela?

Yeru - what can I say "I'm a lover not a fighter". I just happen to be far left of the most bleedin heart liberal left-wing democrats, its in my DNA. And, as such, and as a mother it pains me to see so many die.
I have no qualms w/your opinion - they are necessary. I hardly think lil ole me is a "threat" to our security. And as for "mistaken" politics - perhaps different viewpoints are part of what make America as great as it is.
And of course "world" opinion can be wrong. But, so can America's.
Peace to you Yeru! I do appreciate the fact that you are in service to your country, a country that allows people like me to live our "Pollyanna" lives and raise our children w/out fear.

I would have to agree w/you SaintSatan. But I also feel that there is quite a bit of prejudism involved as well that has nothing to do w/religion. All Western movies, cartoons, etc. etc. have always depicted Arabs in stupid ways. In fact, my hubby & I last night were trying to come up w/one postive role model for American children regarding Arab-Americans. Couldn't think of one.
Yeru - I don't really feeling like tit-for-tat this evening. Its not that I dont have good arguments (i.e. - If Isreal is soooo innocent, why is the U.S. "denouncing" their further attacks upon the West Bank - & Isreal "rejecting" what the U.S. has to say?). You are a very close minded person. I have actually respected and appreciated your responses. I have not called you "ignorant", nor told you to "arm yourself". I don't see the point in arguing w/you about it (plus there's others on a new thread where I'm sure you'll have much better fun taking pokes at than lil ole me). But, you won't even give a scrap to others that don't share your viewpoints.
I said some military response was needed, and that the Taliban has to go. The Northern Alliance is not any better, in fact many feel that they will make it worse. We're jumping into bed w/them, and this too will only fuel more hatred by Arab countries. The U.N. is demanding that the U.S. STOP the military actions as they are severely "impeding" the relief efforts for the Afghani people. But this doesn't seem to matter to you either. Win at all costs - but win what? The Taliban will be taken down. Osama will hopefully be sex-changed into a women and made to live under a fundamentalist state as such.
What we are doing in the eyes of the world should matter. And, I personnaly hope that our politicians will begin to pay attention to that.

"Band of Brothers" & "Why We...
by Nathan Natas inwwii was my father's war, my uncles' war.
my dad was with the army in germany, and my marine uncle returned from iwo jima.. being raised as a 'dub, i had no connection to any of that until it was too late.. for that reason the hbo series "band of brothers" holds special interest for me.
these were the 18 year old kids my dad and his brothers went to school with.. anybody else following the series?.

Been watching Nate - & its excellent. Wanted to buy the series to rewatch & give as X-mas gifts, but won't be available till next year.
It was strange though. 1st episode my hubby & I agreed that perhaps they were "glamorizing" war, but as the series has progressed, it is so realistic and so heart-wrenching, leaves me in tears every episode.

by ring inwhen i was young, there was a rumor through out our circut, that the smurfs were demonized.
we were told at once to destroy all smurf toys, dolls, and figures.
there were storys flying around about talking smurf statue figures, that would get up and walk across the floor, ect... does anyone remember this, or did it only happen in my part of the world?

MAJOR UN/WTS NEWS- UN LETTER & 1992 Press R...
by hawkaw inas of 6:02 pm last night i received a facsimile from paul hoeffel at the un on the wts.. he gave me 3 of the 4 things i requested in two paragraphs.. i have sent a scanned version to steve bates and someone else.. i sent it to kent and randy.
and kent and randy have posted the official united nations letter on their web sites.. here is the letter - put your cursor on the image and then right click on your mouse and hit "save image" to your computer.. .
after you look at kent's web site and you people still think this it is a fake letter, phone paul hoeffel yourself at (212) 963-8070.. hawk

The letter said a signature was not required - is this true? I remember reading somewhere along these threads the the GB member themselves signed the application -had nothing to do w/legal corp.
