Hi Somebody,
Vines Expo Dictionary of the NT says, "PHARISAIOS, from an Aramaic word peras (found in Dan 5:28), signifying to seperate, owing to a different manner of life from that of the general public." (...) "In their zeal for the law they almost deified it, and their attitude became merely, external, formal, and mechanical. They laid stress not upon the righteousness of an action, but upon its formal correctness."
Funny thing. My X's Mother recently told me, "the truth is a bit pharisaical..." and then she added this cooky metaphor, which I still don't figure, "its like the sun rising (or setting, I forget which) behind a row of buildings." !!!!!!!!! What the fskuhdvgf does THAT mean!
