I think you are right minimus. It's like I have to be really solemn at meetings etc.
This is how I feel once I have left an assembly or convention
i honestly think they are the most boring people on earth!
even when they produce their so called "new light", there's no excitement.
jws just do their thing and refuse to think about their useless lives.

there seems to be a number of different ways that apostates try to get jehovah's witnesses realise they do not have the truth, ranging from subtle comments to aggressive attacks.
do you have any that looking back helped you finally leave.
some of the methods include:.
Hi jwfacts
For me, it was the plain and simple age of the internet. At first, I was reluctant to read anything apostate on line as I was totally brainwashed in my view of anything apostate.
In 1995, I remember going in to a Christian book shop and seeing a book about the Witnesses and bought it. I then sat in the car and looked at the cover of the book, but then decided I couldn't read it as this was wrong. So I threw it in the rubbish
What finally drew my attention to apostate material was when a brother sent a link to ancient Babylon photos which I found interesting. I clicked a few links and saw the confusion over the date 607 bce.
This then led me to JWN and the rest is history.
hello there.. i just ordered the book coc, and will son recieve it.
does anyone have anything you want to mention about the book - perhaps some things you stumbled upon that might help me understand something more?
or maybe you have any thoughts you want to share regarding the book?
I read this book twice. I couldn't put it down. I even jotted down about 40 pages of notes as had to hand it back in to the library. I felt that others like myself needed to read it and didn't want to hold on to it. That was back in 2003. Would love to get my own copy.

My response to various comments that I got when starting to grow a beard before I faded, was always: If your God YAWHE has given me a gift as a man, would nยดt it be very ungrateful trying every morning to get rid of his giftโฆ..
Was this the kind of facial reaction you received when you gave your response bugbear ๐

This is a message to the Governing Body and all those with clout at Bethel Warwick who may be looking this up on your smartphones.
If you read this thread, you Will see just how ridiculous and distractive this whole thing is. It's stupid....that's all it is.
It really is a stupid man made rule. Do you really think that YHWH or his son, the the foretold Messiah,, our Lord and King 'Yeshua' have a problem with a man choosing to have a beard or not?
It's a manmade rule. A Rutherford rule. Thats it...nothing else.
PLEASE END THIS SILLY RULE. PEOPLE HAVE WOKEN UP AND KNOW HOW STUPID THE NO BEARD RULE IS. TOODALOO

I pointed out that Brother Trash Collector, the elder had a mustache, to which they replied that he has always had one, which made it OK
Which goes to prove that each hall varies in its micro management of individuals trapped in this captive religion

Finally, for you former elders out there, have you ever had to give a bearded investigator the bad news that his prized beard had to go? How did he respond?

Why do you frown upon beards when Jesus and his disciples sported them?
Why do you frown upon beards when your modern-day founder, Charles Taze Russell and not a few of his followers sported them?
I think there was a Watchtower article back in the seventies that referred to brothers wearing beards being confused with individuals who might be part of the beatnik movement or something. So if a brother was wearing a beard whilst out in the work, householders might view him like this
Of course, the beatnik movement were considered rebel like. So of course such articles only further promoted the idea that brothers growing beards were displaying a rebellious spirit.
There were other articles, but this was just an example. Also, I once heard a PO describe beards as dirty. It was a horrible disgusting comment to make at a public meeting.
The guy might have well stood up and said to everyone ' hey, we are a high control religious group (Christian btw) that micro manages everyone. If you want to be a Christian in this organisation..shave of your beard and wear a suit'

The bible study asked for a School Guidebook but the elders said "only when you shave your beard".
He never came to another meeting. True story.
That reminds me of this Bible study many years ago. She came along to the meetings a couple of times until the presiding overseer spoke about the subject of what sort of things can lead to individuals being disfellowshipped. He then went on to explain that a brother can be disfellowshipped if he were to make friends with a woman and was spending alot of time with her. I remember thinking.... no...no....no. that is just so wrong.
That was the last time I saw that lady
