did anybody else notice in the convention drama when they went to the memorial the speaker called jesus "our lord and savior"?
when have you ever heard jws use that phrase?
christians, yes; jws, no..
What...........Lord and saviour?
Surely the speaker meant to say 'THE RANSOM'
i was raised a catholic from birth to age 15, that's when my dad started to study with some jw's that came to our door.
i was too young/ naive to notice how my lifelong friends were slowly being replaced with so called " outstanding spiritual youths".. anyway, there was randy and kevin, the sons of the po from the hall, everyone thought that they were the most spiritual people i could hang out with.
these guys taught me the fine points of :.

Man..it sounds like you had a blast lol 🙃

on average 40 thousand people leave the organisation yearly for one reason or another.
the experiences all over the media are proof of this.
UischeBeing a Jehovah's Witness is mentioned one time in the Old Testament.
Being a witness for Jesus and or giving testimony about Jesus is mentioned in the book of John as a noun and verb 47 times and 30 more times in his epistles.
Apparently Neither god nor Jesus though it was important to have a clearly defined name.
How about changing their name to - Yhwh's Christian witnesses. That would of course be after they have normalised or reformed the organisation for the good of its members in line with the bible.
why do the gb stonewall individuals with legitimate questions.
for example, they refuse to speak to investagative journalists like trey bundy, unless they happen to get caught somewhere walking about in the street by chance.. i remember the panorama documentary 'suffer the little children' where the presenter tried to arrange an interview with one of the gb.
i can't remember if the gb either refused or simply didn't reply.
Hello, friends. I thought I'd let you know what it feels like to be on THIS side of the GB fence: we're scared. It's like this quote from the YPA book...
“Our teacher asked the class what we thought about evolution. I knew this was a perfect chance to share my faith. But I completely froze and said nothing. Afterward, I felt really bad.”—Jasmine.

You see, we're so used to beingworshippedvalued by you dear friends, we just freeze if anyone dares to ask a logical question.
So, stay with us - just obey and you'll be blessed. One brother said "I would rather have Questions I cant answer, than Answers I cant question" , but where is he today? His name was Ray Franz and he was a GB member that DID do media interviews. Enough said...
Hey Tony.
Thanks ever so much for your incredibly enlightening answer.. You are so brave coming out of the closet (so to speak) and speaking your own mind. Like wow. Its such a privelage. I always knew there was a heart in there somewhere. I look so forward to your candid, open minded thoughts in future.
Best of luck 😋

I can't remember if the GB either refused or simply didn't reply. She managed to catch the GB member at an assembly, but he just fobbed her off when she tried to ask him some serious questions about WT child abuse policy.
The GB seem to make it a policy to purposely avoid, ignore and shy away from anyone who has grounds to question their teachings and/or policies.
The big question is WHY?
Why are they so afraid to face critical questions. Surely constructive criticism would help rather than hinder the organisation. Refusing to be interviewed or answer serious questions presents the organisation as an insular, secretive, rather odd group with something to hide!

How many times have we heard, even on this forum, fade -- don't leave?Fading helps avoid the stigma of being identified and shunned by one's family and friends. It's the single most repulsive thing about these "humble, Bible-believing Christians."
The one thing that turns my stomach is the fact that Jehovahs Witnesses go to great lengths in bringing people into the organisation 'knowing' that once they are baptized ie become a full fledged member of a publishing corporation, they can never officially leave.
It's only years down the line when individuals realise just what the shunning policy entails that it hits home just how cruel this policy actually is. By that time an individual may be married with children in the organisation and unable to find a way out without repurcussions. That's my own personal predicament.
Converts need to be warned about this policy beforehand. If I had known, I would never ever have joined. I didn't even want to join . I was coerced after saying I didn't want to get baptized. Here I am a couple of decades later. Rant over 😦

If they implemented progressive reforms at this point, they'd no longer be "Jehovah's Witnesses".
Hence "Jehovahs Witnesses" will always be labeled a cult!!

They are not being stigmatized as a cult. They are a cult. So this one is simple, just stop being a cult, and show it.
It's interesting that you say this scratchme101
The very first time I saw Jehovahs Witnesses was when I was about 15 years old and with friends on our housing estate. We heard some commotion and saw an elderly couple at the door of someone we were aquatinted with. Another older man who looked like a grandparent was physically pushing the older man away from the door.
That's what drew our attention. I asked one of my friends who they were. He said something along the lines ' they are jehovahs'. I Immediately remember thinking they must be some sort of cult.
I think for the organisation to end people's view of them as being a cult, they would really need to make some radical changes. Some have already been mentioned, but I think the top ones are
That the GB accept constructive criticism
Review their endless rules
Stop promoting the shunning of family members.
Allow individuals the right to their own conscience when it comes to the blood issue, birthdays, holidays
Allow people to end their membership with the organisation without the fear of being shunned by family and friends. Allow people to come and go.
Welcome sinners back who have repented like the father did in the story of the prodigal son. Not wait 6 months or a year etc before Congregation members can actually speak to them!!
Allow men to wear beards.
Stop the suits and skirts only rule
Allow individuals the right to choose if they want to attend college or university
Make the meetings more interesting
Stop pushing Jesus aside and referring to him simply as the ransom; but rather remind everyone that Jesus IS our Messiah, Our reigning King. This needs to be promoted at every meeting. He is our Lord and saviour.
Stop being intrusive, restrictive and controling.
These are just some of the changes watchtower would need to make to normalise the religion as a Christian faith group imho
