1975 and the burning question/s??
by UnshackleTheChains inok. so i'm sitting there at the convention.
the video comes up about 1975 and the fact that the faithful brother in the video maintained his faith in the bible by adhering to the scripture that says:.
'no one knows the day or the hour as to when the lord is coming'.

Jwfacts.com explains very clearly why so many rank and file witnesses were putting their trust and faith in the year 1975.
Also keep in mind the CONSTANT teaching and emphasis of 'this generation' was playing on everybody's mind which no doubt fueled the whole notion about 1975.

Ok. So I'm sitting there at the convention. The video comes up about 1975 and the fact that the faithful brother in the video maintained his faith in the Bible by adhering to the scripture that says:
'no one knows the day or the hour as to when the lord is coming'
He mentions that 'some were putting their faith in a date (the speaker during his talk points out that the date was 1975)
So.....for the more astute ones out there attending the convention, surely they must have asked themselves where on earth Jehovah's Witnesses got the idea about the date 1975? Were these ones apostate in their thinking? Why didn't such ones also adhere to the scripture that the faithful brother followed in that 'no one knows the day nor the hour?
Over to you Freddie!!

Excellent video.
The Society's shunning policy needs to end.The GB MUST be feeling under alot of pressure to change their harmful policies such as shunning given the exposure such videos are having in the media
Keep up the good work guys.

Watched it last night. Very effective. Hopefully more witnesses will wake up and realise this cruel policy has to stop. My heart goes out to those who were interviewed and to all those affected by this man made policy.

I'm writing a letter to my country's branch
by Ray Frankz inhi everyone.. well, i have some good news.
after having a terrible moment arguing with my mom about the 1914 teaching and all it evolves (she get really upset and i felt great regret for starting the argument) she came to me next day and started talking with a much more open mind, and she talked about a lot of concerns too.. she and my father naivily expressed the wish to write to bethel to ask about 607bc.
i told in all the possible ways it wouldn't work.

The one brother, John Joseph May, had questions (for one thing) about 1914... and another bout why Freddy Franz was DF'd. He "rang" Brother Barr (who had been a friend of the family for many years) and then wrote him with about 12 questions, never got an answer, got an "acknowledgement" but no answers.
They used a lot of money to travel to NY to speak with the GB.... they would not meet with them. You can hear this dear person tell the story himself
If my research is correct, there were several congregations in the Dublin area; and many witnesses left due to the way John may and Martin merriman were treated both in the United States by the GB AND when back in Ireland by the CO and elders. It created quite a stir at the time.

I am a letter writer too. I have sent several letters so far. My wife is aware of my activities and has given me an amusing nick name as a result.
If you are writing a letter in your own name (which I would advise against). Be careful how the letter is written. It is unlikely you will get a reply to be honest, but never know. About 5 years ago, I wrote a letter about the fact that Jesus seems to be left to the sidelines alot. Strangely, perhaps coincidental they had an entire convention devoted to Jesus Christ the year after. I'm not saying my letter had a direct impact, but who knows what effect our letters can have.
Best of luck

Why I like this site
by UnshackleTheChains inthe reason i like this site is in the fact that it speaks the truth warts and all.
the very title 'jehovahs witness discussion forum' draws the avarage witness to the site, perhaps thinking it is 'apostate' free.. the good thing is that jw's can read the real truth about the organisation/society...no holds barred.
my hope is that more people caught up in this captive religious organisation will open their eyes to reality!.

Family of Jehovah's Witness who died after refusing blood transfusion can't keep suing doctors
by pale.emperor inhttp://www.pennlive.com/news/2017/07/court_nixes_lawsuit_by_family.html.
the family of a jehovah's witness who died after repeatedly refusing blood transfusions can't sue the hospital where doctors begged for a chance to save her life, a state appeals court ruled.. the case, outlined in an opinion by superior court judge jacqueline o. shogan, involves a convergence of religion, medicine and the law.. its focus is on what happened before terri seels-davila, a jehovah's witness missionary, died after giving birth at hahnemann university hospital in philadelphia in november 2010.. seels-davila, who had been serving on mission with her husband in nicaragua, chose hahnemann because of its "bloodless medicine" program for patients who won't agree to having blood transfusions, including jehovah's witnesses, shogan noted.
the treatment plan for seels-davila called for recycling her own blood back into her system.. yet that proved to be inadequate when complications of her delivery required seels-davila to deliver by cesarean section.

Another waste of a young woman's life. It is just so sad.. The WT corporation will will face a backlash when they eventually get rid of 'their" blood policy
