I have to admit, I thought the lady playing the lead role was really cute

Lessons learned from the wife of lot drama
by purrpurr inthe video drama shown at the recent comvention was called "the wife of lot".
i noticed some stuble lessons being taught in this soap opera style video.... firstly, all the bad influence comes from women, its the wife and the mother in law whose pushing for more money and a better lifestyle.
while the men remain loyal to god, can't show the men going astray now can we?.

My jaw dropping OMG moment at the end of the convention
by UnshackleTheChains inyes folks.
over the past few days i can honestly say the convention was relatively quite good.
most of the talks, videos, symposiums were in line with scripture if you have faith in the bible.

Are you sure that's the number for this year, 2017?
If it is, then it's over 4,000 fewer than last year (2016) when more than 18,000 were said to have partaken of the emblems
Steve2
I stand corrected. The actual number was 18013. JW facts shows the rise in numbers over the years. Therefore the so called mistakers (faketakers) outnumber the so 'wt official' partakers.
https://www.jwfacts.com/watchtower/memorial-partakers.php
Personally. I believe ALL Christians should be partaking as Jesus said 'Take ALL of you'.
In effect, each year, Christians who are part of this organisation are ritually REJECTING the Messiah due to an erroneous man made teaching!
. . So, contrary to what the GB are telling us, all 18013 in 2016 did the right thing. They are all correctly partaking as Christians should. The so called mistakers are in fact bravely rejecting a man made teaching. Those mistakers 'I believe' are standing up and being counted (pardon the pun)

Personally, I think Splane (or who ever is really in charge at the WTBTS) plagiarized that chart from this three year old thread on this forum

That's amazing lol. It really wouldn't surprise me.
One thing I do know having worked in some large organisations is that letters, emails and constructive criticism is ALWAYS considered. Its what large organisations do.
From my own experiences, change has come about by such. The pen is mightier than the sword.

I actually laughed out loud when the speaker said, "we are 103 years into the 'short period of time'". I honestly thought it was meant as a self-deprecating joke. Probably not, I thought I heard others laugh too, but maybe imagined it.
Slimboyfat,
you summed up this talk really well. I also had to control myself. I just found the first half incredible and also noticed that the speaker didn't seem convinced by what he was saying during the first 30 minutes. I would love to know what he was truly thinking.
To put the cherry on the icing, having tight pants Tony telling us all the the GB loves us sounded patronising. Where was the mention about Jesus loving us???
The older guy in front of me who I am aquanted with appeared to sigh a number of times at some of the points you mentioned. It was quite noticeable. I have reason to believe he is awake as commented during the break about the 'happy jolly music' and giving a funny facial expression. I joked with him about it.
I also noticed quite an increase in brothers sporting beards. These brothers are bravely making a statement to the GB ie it's perfectly natural and normal for men to grow beards. Change is taking place my Friend.

Maybe we need Brother Splane to splane the number of overlapping partakers and faketakers with a chart and a pointing stick
Well given there is somewhere in the region of 14000 or so individuals who ate and drank at this year's memorial; at least half of these must be faketakers and the other half partakers. 😯. Brother Splane needs to exchange his stick for a magic wand to work this all out!

Yes folks. Over the past few days I can honestly say the Convention was relatively quite good. Most of the talks, videos, symposiums were in line with scripture if you have faith in the bible. Yes there was the blame it on the rank and file video and reference to 1975; the no mincing of words talk about safeguarding children from what is evil.
However, the very last talk 'Keep in expectation...it will not be late' blew everything else out of the water.
The brother mentioned 3 or 4 questions to which he gave what sounded like answers that made the Governing Body sound infallible. (Sorry I didn't take notes)
The speaker dogmatically mentions the important year 607bce about 3 or 4 times. He mentions 1914 a couple of times, 1919, and even mentions the generation and refers to brother Splanes very good explanation and diagram on JW.org 🙄
He then mentions how we are 103 years into Christ's kingdom reign and brings out Daniel chapter 12 about Michael being Jesus Christ.
Whilst I was sitting there thinking how incredibly good the GB are at weaving bible truths with delusional errors, suddenly the clanger of all clangers comes along. I actually sat forward in my seat with my jaw virtually hitting the floor in disbelief at what was said.
It was the speakers reference to the partakers at the memorial. He rhetorically asks if it mattered about the number of partakers at this year's memorial? He then goes on to explain more or less that the number of partakers doesn't matter as some of these ones have partaken by mistake? But that everything is still on track regarding God's timing for the end of this system, that it will not be late.
Like What did he just say?????????
I looked around thinking are intelligent individuals in the audience really buying this nonsense.
Am still in disbelief!

Speaking of the 144,000...................
by The Fall Guy in...........why would an all-powerful christ, whom the bible describes as having been given "all authority", need 144,000 other king/priests as "helpers" to run his universal organization?
(matthew 28:18) .
1 corinthians 15:25 - "for he [not 144,000] must rule as king until god has put all enemies under his feet.".

So much for the paradise earth - if we need to rely on Tight Pants Tony et al to empathise & comfort us.
Ah you're being too harsh. Old tight pants Tony made a short appearance during the last talk today. He said that the GB loves each and every one of us 🤒
If you read every other Bible translation at Rev 5:10, it says ...rule on (upon) the earth'. Which appears to indicate that Christians will rule as kings and priest along with Christ ON the earth. The NWT says 'over' the earth which is misleading.

I was impressed by part of today's symposium entitled ' Safeguard your children from what is evil'

They failed to detail what the child protection policies are in the congregation
I think Konceptual99 raises a really valid point. Many organisations that work with children have their safeguarding policies accessible to the public.
As an example, out of curiosity I chose the first church that came into my head - The Baptist Church. I typed in Baptist Church safeguarding policy to see if I could access their policy. Lo and behold. There it was. Within seconds, I was able to read their child safety policy. I have included the link below.

1975 - JWs in other countries, not just the U.S. also knew about the prediction
by deegee ini have been wondering, if the 1975 prediction was just a rumour started by the rank & file as the wt claims, then how did jws in other countries, a part from the u.s., also come to know about the prediction?.
i started studying with the jws during the 80s when i was a child.
while attending one of my first meetings during that time, a brother commented during the wt study that armageddon did not come in 1975 because it was not known how many years after adam, eve was created.. at the time, i hadn't a clue what the guy was talking about.

Here in the UK, I remember an elderly sister mentioning 1975. She said she wondered why the Society would have said that at the time, as people sold up their homes. She and her husband sold their home and began pioneering back then.

It is not going to be the thing that breaks Watchtower, it is going to hobble them but it won't break them.
The ARC hearing and court cases in the US were not intended to break the organisation. They were simply about injustice and efforts at putting things right.
That has never happened and will never happen. Why would you think that it would?
Because the GB are human beings. They also claim to be Christian. If they look deep enough into their own souls, they might just be able to move mountains.
