  since my awakening i have tried to understand why and how people could continue to believe so blindly in a proven false "religious" cult that has such an extensive and detailed record of scandals, lies and cover ups???

  i've come to the personal conclusion that there are three major reasons.

  i call them the 3 f-ups!

  1. Fear (of God, biblical doctrines,elders, slander, where to go from here, etc...)

  2. Family and Friends (shunning and cutting them off)

  3. Financial (binds and obligations)

  In my own personal situation some of the above has kept me captive in this high control group for many years.

  For me... the slander and where do I go from here are factors. But the shunning policy is by far the biggest fear I have. The thought of all my relatives shunning me is beyond the pale. That's why I consider the watchtower organisation as a bat shit crazy cult/printing corporation .

  The "circle" of the earth

  a fair bit of time was spent discussing the (one) scripture in the bible that "proves" that when the bible touches on scientific subjects, it is absolutely correct.

  this was at the most recent clam meeting this past week.

  from isaiah, the reference to the "circle" of the earth.

  gorby went for family reasons today, sunday, to the convention in switerbant, netherlands.. from the start it was clear, a fully media event.

  country, gospel and choir songs combined with socio emotional videos for tear teasing.

  some sisters danced with their hips.

  Hi Gorby, You know, I totally relate to your sentiments. I attend the meetings PURELY for social reasons. Each meeting I attend I feel sick to my stomach because I am living a lie. I walked out to the car today mumbling cult cult cult.

  I feel sorry for the rank and file because they are sincere people. It is a revolting captive religion that sucks people in. It is only later these same individuals once they find out the TTATT that they realise they can't leave without consequences.

  The watchtower 'corporation' masquerades as a Christian organisation. They are nothing more than a high control group with wacky teachings and policies that destroy people's lives!

  How much do you think the internet has hurt JW growth?

  the internet is what helped bring me and so many others out of this evil organization or at least confirmed our doubts.

  i have to say, i have seen quite a few youtube videos recently of ex jw's secretly recording their interactions inside of different congregations, halls, etc and see how empty the halls are!

  so many people comment on how the attendance is so low, far more emptier than when i was in 6 years ago, even on a weekday meeting.

  Everyone has a smart phone nowadays. Curiosity gets the better of people at some point.

  Watchtower needs to own up to their errors over the years, make the necessary changes and end the controversies that plague the organisation.

  Otherwise they will continue to hemorrhage members.

  About 15 years ago, a young scantily clad woman came to the door. She was clearly getting a thrill seeing myself and another brother get rather embarrassed. Quite funny thinking back 😀

  we all know the rate of suicide is high among jw's.

  my question is this- was there some subliminal messages that encourage this.

  i was a born in and my entire life i would have these thoughts that could come out of nowhere,"kill yourself.

  I think a big factor to it all is that you just can't be yourself. This creates frustration as bottle things up all the time. You can't speak freely. So when life's problems come along, you make mistakes, you can't live up to Watchtower standards..who do you confide in? What will be the repurcussions?

  That's what causes anxiety and depression for so many, particularly among the youths.

  if i'm tierd i fall asleep anywere so the meetings ect were no diffrent my wife would always try to wake me but im a deep sleeper.

  Bethel Lurkers-A woman's Heartfelt phonecall regarding the organisations inhumane shunning policy!

  i hope bethel lurkers at warwick listen to the rational viewpoint of this australian woman in the recording below.

  she virtually pleads with an australian branch member as to the reasons why shunning is inhumane and how unfair it is that individuals are being held captive within the watchtower organisation.

  they can't simply leave officially without the threat of being shunned by friends and family members.. typically, the branch member responds in a robotic like manner, sticking rigidly to watchtower policy.. https://youtu.be/sc_t60ax5k8.

  I think she got her point over quite clearly. Yes she rambled on a little. But it really highlighted her fears/impact if she did dissacociate. She expressed herself from the heart how unfair the shunning policy is.

  For many of us (me and my mother included) who were proseletized when a witness showed up at our door, we were never informed of this policy when we were studying.

  The woman in her phone call quite rightly highlighted that the organisation is a captive religion. No amount of rational reasoning seems to get through to the watchtower corporation as this phone call proved.
