Did Jesus pre exist? Yes or no?

when i first became a witness, i always found the teaching about jesus being the arch angel michael hard to swallow.

i did however believe that jesus pre existed as a master worker alongside god (the first of his creation).. but now everything is brought into question having watched anthony buzzard explain why jesus could not have pre existed as it is impossible to pre exist yourself.

also the fact that it all sounds contradictory to suggest, he was already alive millions of years before he was transferred to mary's womb to be born as a human - the son of man?.

it looks like some momentum is building up to it.

I think anyone who has been adversely affected by the Watchtower Society and it's policies either directly or indirectly through family or friends should be encouraged to participate

There is a lot of truth in what you say vanderhoven. It speaks for itself when people feel the need to protest. Sheer frustration pushes people into action. Even Jesus himself felt a similar frustration with the religious leaders of his day who burdened the people with their man made rules

The Governing Body need to ease the burden. Enough is enough!!!!!!

I'm starting a Counter-Watchtower magazine

im starting a counter-watchtower magazine for everyone to give to their jw friends and family or just to give to those that come to your door.

the first issue is about the history of pyramidology of c.t.

russel and under the start of rutherford along with some other things like pointing out the fact that no one knows the translators of the nwt or writers of the watchtower, "the two very things relied on to teach you".. its writen in such a way to be very repectful but to make the reader think, and hopefully the light come on.

They were marching around in full garb (black hats, long black coats, long curled forelocks) marching back and forth on the sidewalk, on the Brooklyn Bridge and even up on the freeway overpass, carrying down with watchtower signs down. It was quite a sight to see from the factory windows. I'm sure it wasn't the first time it happened but in the past, events like that, never reached the congregation level.

The difference today is the internet. This protest will be on you tube for some time. The average curious young jdub will no doubt sneak a peak.

It may not make any difference to jw's or the gb but things like this will help educate the general public from ever getting involved with jw's in the first place

Yes. And It will be yet another significant event that will be added to the growing collection of videos exposing Watchtower.

Hey all.

Just saw this video about the upcoming protest at Warwick on November 5th. It looks like some momentum is building up to it. But what I really want to know is will it have much impact? I truly hope it does!

If the media get a hold of the story...perhaps? I actually do really hope the protest is successful and that it brings attention to the plight many thousands of ex witnesses are experiencing right now, and indeed those who have suffered in the past.

I hope this protest will wake up the leadership of Watchtower so that they realise enough is enough and that they need to change, they need to reform their policies and teachings that have brought about so much pain and hurt.

The ex jw community is in a great position to stand up and make it known that Watchtower cannot continue burying their heads in the sand. Its time to take their heads out of the sand and to start showing some Christian compassion.

Why referring to Watchtower as 'the Borg' is so apt!

it's interesting that when watchtower is referred to as the borg, it immediately brings to mind the scenes where individuals such as captain piccard are held prisoner within a vast collective hive type prison and unable to leave.

they are then turned into drones.

in fact here is how wikipedia explains it.. the borg are a fictional alien group that appear as recurring antagonists in the star trek franchise.

'The Borg' is a fitting expression for the watchtower organisation. At first it all seems so harmless, but then after a time having been injected with Watchtower teachings, we find ourselves turned into drones. When we realise we are enmeshed, it is too late. We are held in a captive state. Freedom seems almost impossible for many. No way out for some. Like many, I have been sadly assimilated by the borg 😓

mike say's that he has being trying to tell people that the boys in pennsylvania are the real power behind watchtower - not the governing body?.

So the "boys in Penn" act on the word of those whom they follow, and are in a leadership role only in as much as they fullfilling the dictates they have received and proven themselves loyal to the religion to be in that position. Anything beyond that kind of just borders on conspiracy theory

Thanks everyone for your responses on this thread. I had wanted to respond sooner, but have been so busy.

problemmaddict. I can see where you are coming from. However, 7 men at the forefront of the Watchtower corporation can only do so much. It makes absolute sense they have powerful advisors such as qualified lawyers, and businessmen in the background steering the ship to avoid stormy seas ahead (eg legal battles/lawsuits/building projects etc). It all goes hand in hand.

A prime example is the pope of Rome. Is he running the entire Catholic church singlehanded? Are all his views, ideas, dictates immediately put in place? I would hardly think so. Some perhaps, but not all. The Catholic church will have its own powerful men pulling many important strings. The GB is our collective pope like leadership in a manner of speaking.

Given what I have seen on JW broadcasting, I don't see any outstanding astute hawks or powerful men among the GB. I only see what amounts to a figurehead at the very top of the organisation. The friendly face of watchtower. In fact I view it the same way I view the queen of England. She is a figurehead for the country, but not the actual individual running the country. She will be advised on just about everything.

As Newly Enlightened said...'the Board of Directors in PA are the power & money'......they mention they were informed of this by someone who used to work at the Pennsylvania corporation after they had defected.

I believe there is credibility to what Mike and Kim are saying. I find it all very fascinating. As someone who has actively been trying to change policy through letter writing over the years, such information is important; it is in fact vital. Highlighting issues with the right people could or can make a difference.

I would personally like to thank Mike and Kim for highlighting this and bringing it to people's attention!

Also a very big thanks to Darkspilver for all the information you provided. I will be keeping all of this for reference.
