* None of that applies to old Sister Murphy who for years has had a beard that would embarrass most teenage guys if they tried to grow one. (With the exception that no one says anything openly about hers either.)

I had the floor overseer tell me that I couldn't read the Bible during my breaks. When I asked why, he replied that it's because the Society had deemed to give me an opportunity to "rest" and that I should "enjoy it" and show appreciation for that. Yeah, the guy was "super-fine" and didn't think that his argument made no sense even if my intent was to "relax"

My oh my.....did this guy not know that reading is actually a form of relaxation? Telling you not to read the Bible was interesting. Wasn't there a time when brothers were advised not to study the Bible independently without wt articles. Perhaps this guy thought you were doing that and came up with his lame excuse.

Beards are allowed over here, saw loads at the convention in London last year.

I live in the UK. I know of a brother who was spoken to at the back of the kingdom hall recently by the COBE for growing a beard. He was told that brothers shouldn't wear beards and to follow the example of the brothers on the platform at assembly's.

This guy is an out and out company man who goes by every single policy or guideline within the flock book and branch guidelines. I also know for a fact he micro manages the body of elders in the hall.

Do JWs Really Bother You?

in reality my experience with the witnesses is that they really don't bother me or bother with me which suits me just fine....are you "bothered" by the witnesses at this point of your life?.

I go to meetings now and again. I am now at the stage of past caring. I just keep my views to myself. I do what I want and take each individual (witness/non witness) as they come. I can't be bothered getting worked up over them at this stage of my life.

I would however like to see the GB brought to account for their more damaging policies and erroneous teachings that have impacted negatively on the lives of many many people earth wide.

The Truman Show, a movie that JW's must hate.

the truman show is on tbs tonight and i know, it's been mentioned before here, but it has to be a movie that gives jw's the creeps.

jw's know something is not right in the wt fantasy land, but until they have that epiphany, that the wt has lied to them, the jw is just left with a niggly feeling of "something is just not right" in the back of their mind.

now when jim carrey- truman burbank- figures it out and becomes self aware of the lie, everyone around him tries to redirect his focus away from his epiphany , then convince him he is the only one who see's a problem.

I had to resurrect this thread.

So many of us went through this when we were first beginning to wake up. I remember the fear, the guilt and paranoia I felt when first looking up 'apostate' sites and reading ray Franz's book crisis of conscience that same year.

I remember walking into the hall each week thinking I was the only one who new the real truth about the organisation. I had absolutely no one to talk to about it. It was such a weird experience, similiar to how Truman was feeling. Everything suddenly felt fake.

Now when I walk into the kingdom hall it feels like I am walking into a parallel universe. On the one hand, everything goes on as normal at the meetings as if nothing has ever happened within the organisation. No one ever EVER mentions anything negative about the organisation. EVER!

On the other hand, all over the media, we find that the organisation is perceived by many as a cult, a high control religion, a captive religion. I read daily (on my smart phone) about the various controversies and scandals both past and present within the organisation.

Sadly for many of us who are awake, WE are the ones who are portrayed by our own family and friends as having a problem. God's organisation (the WTB&TS) is where we can only ever feel safe. Many of us are in our very own Truman show sitting on the beach staring out over that endless sea.

festivals, concerts), there will be admittance controls in stadiums.. - at each entrance, there will be a massive presence of attendants that look at each visitor.. - there will be pocket checks at the entrance.. - suspicious persons are no longer left on the convention grounds.. - suppliers to the stadium will be intensively inspected by attendants.. - there will be a special sign for attendants that must enter the stadium before 7.30 am.

all others (even all attendants) can only enter after 7.30 am..
