How big a fee does the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society get for booking Jehovah's Witnesses into Convention Hotels?

i know travel agents and on-line sites get a kickback or fee for booking hotels.

WT went in to the rooming business because the community did not have enough motel/hotel rooms for the large crowds from out of town. The conventions were much larger. It used to be that they would arrange for families to stay with people in the community and they even set up tent cities.
It was in the late 70's early 80's that they started to have the approved rooming list. At first it was in very nice hotels and the prices were way below what you could get personally. I know that wt did get comp rooms for the co and do's.
However, the quality of the rooms has deteriorated over the years. The nice hotels are not offered any longer. One year the KM mentioned that someone set up a hibachi in the room and created a real problems. It was about this time that the KM's had a 45 minute part on the do's and don't of staying at a hotel.
The Motel 6's and 8's offered are there at the same price you can get nice Hotels over the internet. I thought that wt would/should get out of the hotel business years ago after the internet came about.
I don't think that they are making much money off the hotels, and with the cheap places now on the list I have never seen or heard of a CO or DO stay there. The traveling boys stay at the wealthy elder's houses and drink.

Governing body member engaged... Again!
by OneDayillBeFree injust found out that the australian governong body member known as geoffrey jackson got engaged to a sister about two weeks ago.
it really shocked me at first but then i remembered how other members of the gb have remarried in the past like daniel sidlik.
what made me say "woah" was hearing that the holy bride to be is really young!

2013 Circuit Assembly programs on jw.org
by sd-7 ini just happened to pay a visit to hypertexttransferprotocol colon backslash backslash worldwide web dot jw dot org (http://www.jw.org), my absolute favorite website of all time right now, and i noticed they have assembly programs for 2013 on there.. it looks like the programs have similar themes as this year's convention, themed "safeguard your heart".
the assembly program is themed "safeguard your mind" and the special assembly day is themed "safeguard your conscience", unless i've confused the two, i really don't feel like going back to look at them right now, the files opened up at like 198% magnification and it creeped the hell out of me, it was like a giant recurring nightmare in 3-d or something.
it sounds like they're really worried about the jw mindset right now, or else why have programs with those themes?

No more 3-day DCs starting in 2013?
by respectful_observer inapologies if there is another recent thread on this, but i have heard from 4 different people in 3 different geographic areas (including someone who does advance work for the dcs), that beginning in 2013 the three day dc program will be replaced by a second two-day circuit assembly.
some people were passing the info along like a secret, others seemed to think that everyone already knew.. if everyone in j-dub land is already talking about this, how is it not all over this forum??.
anyway, can anyone confirm or deny?.

Is their a slackening off / lack of zeal in the witnessing work that I am observing or is it just the area I`m living in
by smiddy inlast saturday i was home with my wife,having a leisurely brekky pottering around in the kitchen ,then i noticed her standing still pondering ,what`s up i asked , wife :i thought i heard someone knocking ,i looked out the window to see two middle aged guys exciting my front drive.why didn`t you tell me they were their,i didn`t hear them.
i would have engaged them in conversation , but my wife doesn`t think i ought to,just let it go ,is her motto.. but my point is : i`m not deaf , and i didn`t hear them at the door , we were both in the front room ,my wife only thought she heard someone at the door only to be proved right observing them leaving i was in my pj`s and dressing gown so was not going to pursue them.
we have been living here nearly 5 years now and i can honestly say they have never been on our doorstep more than 4 times if that , i personally have only encountered them 3 times at the most.

Sir 82, I have seen this before in various forms. One service overseer came to our bookstudy and gave us a butt chewing telling us that we had slacked off. The SO told us that we had a 6-7 hour average and needed to really think about our spiritual condition. I took all the cards and several were regular auxilary or auxilaring often. Basically what he did was give the average for the elderly and unbaptized publishers; the pioneering counted for nothing.
I called him up told him that he was manipulating the numbers to make the study look bad and he did not like it. I also told him that he needed to apologize to the bookstudy. He didn't. It was like he knew as a pioneer that you had to keep the publishers thinking they are not doing anything. It's clowns like this that made me want to do even less. Obviously, this type of "encouragement" is having it's real effect shown now.

dgp, too funny, I guess you didn't end up with the sister? Personally, I didn't get married for spiritual reasons, but I can just imagine the iceberg in the relationship when your given a fam book to study.
Interesting what Witnesses study for. In addition to "studying" to become married, ms's will study to become an elder. "Where's your husband", wife, "he's studying to become an elder". Oh, right. He's looking at porn.
