My story in short
by DeWandelaar ini am visiting this site for quite some time now and now i think it is time to tell something about me and my experience.
without giving away my name (i am in "fade mode"): i am from the small country they call the netherlands, the land of wooden shoes, tulips, cheese and too many inhabitants per square meter.
i am married with children and a second generation jw.

New member says hey
by jay dubless ini have lurked now and then, just decided to join.. my older brother and i were raised by our jw mom, but our dad was a non-practicing catholic.
so we went to the hall, but were considered "weak" witnesses, since our family still celebrated xmas and birthdays, to appease my dad i suppose.
as a kid, i loved these holidays.. anyways, when my brother was 17 (i was 13), he spent a few weeks with our cousins in ky, who are all gung-ho j-dubs, and upon his return, he decided he was going to be more "theocratic".

Sorry about your Mom, at least she didn't break her hip.
You just need to go out in the service and make sure you make all the meetings, and you will be happy. LOL. With your changing circumstances, "Have you thought about putting your pioneer application in." It's just a few hours a day!

Outsourcing of printing?
by Lynnie ini heard through the grapevine this weekend that my second cousin and her husband made a trip to india to investigate possible outsourcing of printed docs for the wtbts.
he is a uber bethelite in the purchasing dept and my cousin is a good bethelite wife.
they were living in brooklyn but have been moved up to wallkill in the last few months.

One thing I could never figure was how most worldly presses are running most of the day AND night to pay for the cost. To me it is hard to justify millions for a press when you are going to use it part time. Watchtower has tried it all, expanding the printing countries and now contracting and just going with a few centralized printing areas around the world.
I know that they used to run the press in the morning and then shut it down for lunch. Because it takes some time for the press to get up to speed and warmed up, they finally started having lunch delivered to the press room. However, they still only run the presses for the one shift.
I could never understand that. Now maybe they will have everything printed in China with cheapo labor. WT has always had cheap labor but their standards including their meals and housing are more elevated than what a person would earn running a press making 50-60k a year would be able to afford. The other thing I could not ever get is how do you have 20 guys on the press and justify 1100 people at Watchtower Farms? What does the farm produce? Magazines.

JWs Lack of Love and Feelings
by jemba ini have noticed the extreme lack of love in this group of people who preach love, love, love.. we recently had serious floods come through our area and the jws couldnt have cared less.
our 'worldly' friends did sooo much for us though.
raising money, giving gifts, cards, accomodation and so much support and hard work.. i personally think jws are one of the most insensitive, uncaring religions around.. three religious groups were absolutely wonderful during the flooding of our area.

Unfortuneately, it is true and it appears to be getting worse. Recently I got an email from a sibling and they were telling how everyone at home was doing. One relatively young brother who used to be on the CA's as an extraordinary example had been diagnosed with a cancer and was receiving chemotherapy and radiation treatments.
All my sibling could talk about was the inactivity of the young person for the last 15 years and was also critical of his father for associating with him since his diagnosis. The young man, in his 40's, has most likely lost his hair and fingernails and is in constant nausea fighting for his life, and all that can be said about him is that "he was held up as the example to all of us, now he is inactive" and sick.
Extremely dark sentiments were expressed and the obvious lack of any "natural affection". My concern is that it seems that Jw's are becoming animalistic and cannabalistic with regards to their attitude of others.

Re: 2013 annual meeting
by pixel inremember, you read it here first!.
dear brothers: .

Yes, broadcasting the annual meeting sounds like the first time that Chrysler Motors was in financial trouble and Lee Iocaca represented the company with their new K-car. Since then, many CEO's have taken the lead in advertising.
Watchtower is no different than any other company in trouble, now they want to parade the GB. Either that or the GB members want to parade themselves. Vanity. Next thing you know you'll be able to get a signed GB calendar and yearbook at the annual meeting.
Next new arrangement you will have is the passing of the cool-aid.

Aquestion, Bethelites in foreign service is a Brooklyn term for when bethelites serving at their homeland branch would be asked to serve in a foreign country either on a temporary or permanent basis. For instance, when the society was building many of the branches that they have recently sold some of the overseers were sent from Brooklyn, Walkil, or Patterson to oversee the work. I believe that the Bethelites in foreign service still get the homeland monthly stippend. There are probably 16-20 different types of "Bethelites" ranging from several temporary statuses to Full Blown Bethelites with all the benefits, and evidently, bethelites in foreign service. The "full blown" bethelites that I knew that went overseas on "temporary" assignments could be overseas from 3 to 5 years before they returned to their Walkil home. I hope that this helps.
