Yes, I received this last week a brochure addressed to my father who has been deceased for fifteen years. When I was very young, as a family, we took a Illinois National Travel package to Jamaica, but that was in the 1970's. There were ones on that tour that had gone previously on a similar tour to Acapulco, Mexico. They were unimpressed by the tour in Jamaica staying at the Rose Hall. Their attitude somewhat diminished our fun, because they were complaining that the Hotel wasn't as good as the Acapulco Princess, where Howard Hughes had lived on the top two floors of the Hotel during his last years of life. Basically, Illinois National Travel is a parasite company feeding off the bigger parasite Watchtower, Bible, and Tract Society. -

With some of the latest talks from the governing body, they probably feel if you want to wear a pants suit as a woman, you have homosexual tendencies and will eventually become a transvestite. LOL -

Long Story of my Life/Experience
by GrownMidget inalso, my wife has come to her limits of understanding me about the witnesses related grief i have been having.
she has told me many times to stop reading the ex-witness sites because i get depressed and become angry, which sadly is true.
it's not very productive to be sad throughout the entire day and then shout at your wife for the reason she has no first hand experience about, therefore how could she possibly know and help?

GrownMidget, thank you for telling your story. You have overcome much, and you are still alive. Be thankful for your progress and do your best to move on in life. May you find abundant peace in your life. -

JW Religion same as Stock Market/Gambling (Concept)
by Da.Furious infor the last few days i was discussing with a colleague of mine at work about the stock market and how some people, even when losing money, they will hold onto their shares because someone said they will rise again.
this may lead to lost opportunities or even losing all their money instead of de-risking and offsetting loses by buying another stock, in other word jumping ship.. this got me thinking about jws (knowing that i am still in).
took one step back and looked at our family and what we have done by sticking to this religion.

Da Furious, this is a great comparison. If WTBTS was in any other business, lets say financial advisers, or even map making, they would have been broke years ago, because of their history of production of an undependable product.
My Dad, rest his soul, used to say, "Not to throw good money after bad". To stay in the investment with WTBTS, is not a passive, just wait and see if the stock increases in value, time of waiting. It dearly cost time, money, physically, and emotionally energy as a great dedication to keep the Nazi high marching step that the WTBTS is constantly demanding in their "do more" do more, "do more" organizational attitude.
I know several older witnesses that have made the comment to me or close friends, that they have too much invested to stop now, because basically, they would lose their families, friends etc. We know the cost.
It took me awhile to figure this religion out, and I was disadvantaged in my thinking as I was indoctrinated from infancy. However, thankfully, I have my wife, daughter, and myself out of this religion, and we couldn't be happier. We are "investing" in other areas of life. My wife loves her job as a registered nurse (graduated post witness) and is impressed with whom she is working with in the hospital, their morals, their goals, their commitment to the community, how they want to freely serve the community when they retire. It has taken a number of years to see "my investment" start to pay off, especially after loosing sooooo much when I left. I lost everything, but we bent down, and with broken tools, rebuilt, an we are happy with what we have accomplished.

Suicide or Real Freedom? - My Story As One Of Jehovah's Witnesses
by dubstepped in"sometimes i think the only thing i could do that wouldn't upset someone would be to kill myself.".
those were the frustrated words of my friend as we stood out in his large yard in the country, just about to enjoy a nice bonfire on a beautiful night.
what was it that could have been a lesser evil than killing himself?
-
JakeM2012
Dub, I wanted to thank you for your very well written post. I'm a bit older than you, but we have a common ground. I'm glad that you have made it through this process, and have retained your wife. There is comfort with the various stories written about life growing up as a JW and the continued struggles, that we are not alone in our thoughts.

(CNN)A counseling session on the spiritual state of two brothers turned physical at Word of Life Christian Church in New Hartford, New York, resulting in the death of a young man and serious injuries to his brother, New Hartford Police Chief Michael Inserra said Wednesday.
Their parents, Bruce T. Leonard, 65, and Deborah R. Leonard, 59, each face one count of first-degree manslaughter, a Class B felony. The Leonards were each ordered held on $100,000 bail at arraignment Wednesday. Four other church members were charged with second-degree assault, also a felony.
6 photos: Church members arrested after teen's deathFamily members took Lucas Leonard, 19, by car Monday afternoon to a hospital in nearby Utica. New Hartford police said Leonard was injured during an assault and was pronounced dead Monday at the hospital.
Leonard's 17-year-old brother, Christopher, was hospitalized in serious condition after suffering blunt force trauma injuries also, police said.
The assaults occurred after a Sunday night service at the church, which is located about 250 miles north of New York City. The congregation held what Inserra called a "counseling session" for the two brothers.
But the session became violent, the police chief said.
"Both brothers were continually subjected to physical punishment over the course of several hours in the hopes that each would confess to prior sins and ask for forgiveness," he said.
On Monday, Lucas Leonard was taken to the hospital after church members found he wasn't breathing, Inserra said. He was pronounced dead at the hospital.
An autopsy showed Leonard suffered multiple contusions from blunt force trauma to the torso and extremities, Inserra said.
"It was determined that the combination of injuries and the duration of assault contributed to his death," Inserra said, adding that the cause of death was pending further examination.
Police were originally called to the hospital and told that Leonard had been shot. Inserra said the shooting report was unfounded. Police learned of the assaults after interviewing church members.
Authorities found several children in the church and called in child protective services.
'I don't believe there was any intent'
Don Gerace, attorney for Bruce Leonard, has entered a not guilty plea on behalf of his client, whom he said has no criminal history and has lived in the community more than two decades. Leonard has been a church member for eight years.
"In the state of New York he is charged with manslaughter in the first degree, which requires intent to cause serious bodily injury and I do not believe there was any intent," Gerace said.
Deborah Leonard's attorney, Devin Garramone, said his client had a stent put in due to a heart condition and requires constant medical attention.
"I cannot imagine my client had anything to do with these injuries, especially in the condition she is in," he said.
Bail for the other four church members was set Wednesday at $50,000 each.
Inserra identified them as as Joseph Irwin, David Morey, Linda Morey and Sarah Ferguson.
'Quite a shock'
A former Word of Life church member, who asked not to be identified, said she used to babysit the teenage brothers. The allegations are shocking, she said.
The church, which began in 1984, has about five families, or about 35 members, including children, according to the former member. She described the congregation as a "makeshift family" that had been together for 25 years.
"We weren't originally isolated from the community," she said.
Over time, there was friction between the church and a neighboring community, she said.
"We put up the hedges," she said.
"Then the neighbors got angry because they couldn't see what's going on anymore."
But the ex-member denied reports the church is a cult.
"I realize this situation makes it look like this," she said, "but if you listen to the teachings, they are accurate to the Bible."
Responding to a reporter's question, Inserra said he had no information about whether the group is a cult.
Utica School District has employed Bruce Leonard as a teaching assistant since 2007, Proctor High School principal Steven Falchi told CNN. He has been at Proctor High School in Utica since 2010, Falchi said.
Leonard works with a certified teacher and other teaching assistants in the special education department, Falchi said. He works with "severely and profoundly disabled students," Falchi said.
"We were very shocked to learn the news," said Falchi, adding he was not aware of previous complaints or disciplinary action against Leonard. "He was a hard worker and was exceptionally compassionate about his work with our students. It came as quite a shock."
Lucas Leonard and his younger brother were home-schooled, according to Ronald Wheelock, superintendent for Sauquoit Valley Central School District.
The school district's involvement with the teens was limited, with the parents sending the district curriculum proposals at the beginning of the year, Wheelock said.
Not a mainline church
The Rev. Abraham Esper of St. Patrick's-St. Anthony's Church in Chadwicks told CNN that Word of Life was not a "mainline" church and members had little interaction with neighbors.
"It's very closed in," he said of the nearby church, adding that the only contact came during rummage sales and flea markets outside Word of Life.
Esper said there was "very loud and very disruptive" noise at the church some afternoons and nights, including the beat of drums and barking dogs.
"You couldn't concentrate," he said.
Esper said a locked gate obscures a parking lot behind Word of Life church.
Longtime resident Lynn Laventure, whose parents live across the street, said the 20 or so church members kept to themselves and "never disturbed anybody."
"It makes me wonder what is going on if this is a church and it's of God," she said. "There is such thing as a child having to have a punishment if something was wrong ... but not a beating. We would have never in a million years guessed anything was ... wrong."
CNN's Lorenzo Ferrigno, Jennifer Feldman, Sarah Jorgensen, Lawrence Crook III, Jason Carroll, Jack Maddox, Julia Talanova, Laura Ly, Dominique Debucquoy-Dodley and Chuck Johnston contributed to this report.

Is Watchtower beginning to buckle
by Truthexplorer inis wt beginning to buckle under the weight of everything that is happening?
heavy criticism from the media and the plethora of websites and youtube videos popping up; and now the obvious issues with finances clearly evident.

Personally, I believe WTBTS is definitely showing signs of financial stress. Their behavior is getting to be erratic, but as we have seen on this forum, predictable. Their behavior is predictable concerning their next cuts or money grabbing schemes.
Just to clarify, just because an organization is tax free, it' doesn't mean they are automatically successful. Even non-prophet organizations have to have sufficient donations to remain solvent. Incidentally, There are many "for profit" organizations that pay NO tax because they spend a lot of money on lawyers that specialize in taxation defense. (Watch the documentary, "We Are Not Broke" on Netflix".)
Calvin Coolidge said, "No enterprise can exist for itself alone. It ministers to some great need, it performs some great service, not for itself, but for others; or failing therein, it ceases to be profitable and ceases to exist".
WTBTS is, as they say about this "system", rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic, just before it sinks. The elephants in the room have not and will not be addressed by the current GB or whoever is really pulling the strings. A few elephants that I see, is the "unchristian like attitudes that exists in the organization and congregations. Further, the refusal by the organization to honestly admit, "that as much as we all wanted the end to come", as time passes, there is growing evidence that the year of 1914 had no significance.
I think that I've mentioned this before, but I asked a long time Bethelite that had worked alongside the GB for years this question: Why after the 1975 debacle, didn't the WTBTS just get rid of everything with a born on date or ending date, and just concentrate on love within families, the congregations, and the worldwide "brotherhood", and leave all that end time Mumbo-Jumbo out of the equation. The Brother told me, "Well, that's what Ray Franz said to do".
JW's have a good thing going with their "Brotherhood" and being able to travel around the world with different nationalities, races, etc. and have a trust and unity. That is what the organization should build upon.

Cognac, If you are a great mom and are great at business, my hat is off to you. These qualities may not be the total "package" of what you are looking for, however, they are the basic building blocks of "outside" worldly success. Many worldly people could have fallen into the successful group without having both of these qualities at the same time.
I personally feel that the indoctrination of WTBTS of constantly insisting that "I" personally (along with every other reader) was grossly deficient, prone to failure, tempted and sinful, and totally inadequate without the WTBTS's input and dependence on their constant guidance, distorts a truthful judgement of ourselves. This type of "spiritual diet or food" is intentionally done to psychologically keep followers off balance and doubting themselves so that they feel dependency on the WTBTS. It is very similar to a drug dealer.
You have not reavealed enough of why you feel inadequate "to make it in the outside world", so I won't offer correct actions, but I'm interested in your further expressions.
