The Sin of Omission
by stuckinarut2 inhave we heard of the sin of omission?.
it refers to a situation where someone deliberately withholds some relevant or pertinent information from an investigation or enquiry.. in a criminal situation someone may purposely neglect to mention he was present, or involved in something.
it may lead the other person to a conclusion that is not accurate...and yet the person under investigation never actually lied.. now think of a jw "judicial committee" .

Sure, you can also be disfellowshipped for lying and slander. It's rare. Who could cast the first stone?
I bought a life insurance annuity one time. Then I realized it was not in my best interest but for the salesman's interest. Swindler's believe that if you are so stupid to fall for their scheme then you don't deserve to keep your money. Maybe that's what the GB thinks while they laugh all the way to the bank and tour the world.

Fasten Your Seatbelts - The Crazy Has Started (Also, bring the Koolaid)
by berrygerry infrom facebook:just saw my jw mother after not seeing her for more than 2 years.
when i do see her, it is brief, she never asks about my life, doesn't ask about my 4 children her grandchildren, doesn't ask about my grandchildren...her great grandchildren, she doesn't ask about my other 2 brothers that she is also alienated from, she doesn't ask about my brothers family.
she doesn't talk about the jw/org either.

Yes, they said forty years ago that we had entered the "Warning" work. Nothing new. The animals are gathered and in the ark just waiting on Jehovah to close and seal the door and bring the rain. One time they even said that Jehovah was closing the door to the Ark. Better hurry up and get baptized, and we can only study with you for six months.
Oh, no, they could be in the ark waiting for rain for years and decades, (a day for a year). Maybe you could take some food over there on the January 2nd. Or, Just set up a Pizza delivery from Domino's to the Kingdom Hall.
Funny how the end was delayed to gather more sincere hearted people. But, they never cared about all the sincere hearted people that rotted (left got tired, died, etc) waiting for the end. I guess the Ark has a backdoor after all. Well, don't let it hit you on your way out.

The Extremes of The Watchtower Bible and Tract Scoiety
by The_Seeker ini have been reading through the posts over the last few days and something occurred to me, an epiphany, if you will.
people don't leave the jw's, especially those raised in the religion, simply because it is easier for them to continue to believe a lie even when faced with the truth.
the ability to think critically is something that most jws lack, we all know this to be true, but i truly believe many of them are simply too lazy to try anything different.

Punk of ice, you are correct, the majority Jw's are not spiritual people. The majority of Jw's do not read the Bible let alone the Wt and Awake magazines. They know more about organizational procedures, rules, and regulations than the scriptures. Witnesses in the congregation are more aware of the Presiding Overseer (COB,e) and his wife's views than what the Bible has to say.
Elder's meetings with the MS's may open the meeting with a scripture, but when the elders meet themselves, the Bible is rarely consulted. They miss the point of the scriptures, especially what Jesus taught by example because the organization has high jacked all application of the scriptures to serve their own selfish needs.
When a person has to go on the defensive because they helped a disfellowshipped individual change a flat tire in the parking lot of the KH or on the road coming to the Hall or going home, it's because the organization rulers have completely overwritten the lessons of love and lessons in the parables like the Good Samaritan. The WTBTs has selfishly applied all scriptures to themselves for their own selfish gain.
For instance, where Jesus said, if you do it to the least of these, my brothers, you did it to me. The WTBS leaders have selfishly inserter that they are the "least of these brothers" and therefore, you need to support them through works and contributions. Instead of seeing the lesson to treat all people well and not cause divisions, either racial, religious or other reasons, all the scriptures apply to a very small group of anointed select who happen to live in New York. That is why even Witnesses so-called "relief" efforts fall short of the foundation of the Christian Faith, because they are doing it for the faithful and discreet slave, not because of love for their suffering fellow humans or brothers.

can you still record the talks at assemblies?
by greenhornet inyears ago my parents would record these talks and play them back all the time.
when they both died, we cleaned out the house and found 50 plus cassette tapes of recorded talks and they were labeled the year and the speaker at the time.
that was in the year 2000. we just gave them to there jw friends because i did not want to keep them for recording of music.

I think most of the video recording or yesteryear was for them to have something to do and a reason to get up. It took the boredom away to a limited degree and helped the day pass. They didn't have to take notes because they were recording it and they could sleep.

Today's W.T when it mentioned Depression and Anxiety
by Isambard Crater inour co-ordinator put his hand up and commented saying that people who go on about how depressed or anxious they are just need to stop giving in to impulses and show more self control without letting their emotions rule their lives.. if anyone from the media, a government agency or some other public body heard a comment like that, they'd have a hard time exercising self control over the rubbish this elder spouted, which my friends and family with genuine depression found insulting..

You can't have good fruitage with a bad root system. Once I realized the root cause of my depression and acted upon it to remove it from my life, I have been fine, in fact, enjoying the benefits of an abundant crop. The continuous drip of poison that you are not good enough, not doing enough, and that you should be thankful for our associating with you because you are such a loser is an absurd idea, but, WTBTS continues to sell.

Why I lost my religion
by Sour Grapes ini was a jw for over 50 years and recently just stopped cold turkey going to the meetings.
years of sitting at the meetings with the boredom, the gloom and doom, repetition of doctrine, the gloom and doom, the fake love, the gloom and doom, the end being so close, do more - do more, just got to be too much for me to stomach.
i stopped praying to god and no longer thank god for the food before i eat.

Sour Grapes, Great post, and points! I loved your point about how out of all the universe that God could have thrown Satan, Satan was thrown down to the earth to devour God's Children. (Of course, unless you are of the Anointed you are not one of God's Children even after the 1000 years and a "final" test as if you haven't been tested enough.)
Yes, and I agree with your comments about the Mind Numbing Meetings, Years of sitting at the meetings with the boredom, the gloom, and doom, repetition of doctrine, (yes, all the scriptures divinely and magically point to C.T. Russel, Rutherford, the WTBTS, or some insignificant convention in 1935 at Cedar Point Ohio, etc.) the gloom, and doom, (the public talks with 40 minutes of doom and gloom and 2 minutes of God's Kingdom being the solution and conclusion), the fake love, the gloom and doom, the end being so close, (the end is now ever so closer) do more - do more. (May I add, after you are doing more, that's still not enough? do more)
I was in my early 40's when my doubts and alternative personality finally yelled at me and said, "That's enough." I seldom come to this site anymore, but I will have to say, that now, I truly have peace in my life and hope that you will also find it, my Brother.

If You Question The Governing Body, You're Like Korah
by pale.emperor inanyone who questions the governing bodys authority is labelled as an apostate and almost always they bring up the story of korah and his revolt against moses.. watchtower august 1st, 2002, the article loyally submit to godly authority paragraphs 8-15.. https://wol.jw.org/en/wol/d/r1/lp-e/2002563.
in not so subtle hint, the gb likens themselves to moses, and those who disagree with the gb are korah.. paragraph 15 is actually quite damaging to the gb's argument though:.
it was so unnecessary for all those people to lose their lives.

In 140 years since 1879, the Governing Body has delivered the Photo-Drama of Creation and a Website. What more proof do you need? "Enough" evidence.

Oh The Irony
by FedUpJW inso i sat and suffered through the clam tonight.. everything was pretty much as dull, repetitious, and simple-minded as i have come to expect, but i was really struck by the mind-numbing idiotic comments made during the part about shunning family.. then came the book study (no real bible use) loaded with self-congratulatory b.s about how wt never has, and never will beg, solicit, or ask for money.
i could feel myself beginning to channel the old tasmanian devil cartoon character as i listened to that garbage while remembering the jdubya tv shows about how more money was going out than coming in and give more.
but finally came the most ironic (to me) part of the entire meeting and i could not help bursting out in a loud belly laugh that got me many dirty looks and heavy frowns.

Once the "tax" has been demanded and "approved" by the congregation it will be annually paid forever.

2 witnesses told me the literature they were handing out were not religious
by charity7 intwo witnesses came to my door the other day and i politely told them that i was not interested.
they told me that it was ok and that what they were handing out was not anything religious.
i told them sorry and that i was still not interested.

They have the "truth" they are not religious. The Society for years denied that they were a religion.
