  The end of an era ......

  i have written some time ago, about how the religion i grew up in no longer exists.

  i was an 80’s jw kid who became a pioneer then a bethelite.

  they have new meetings, new elder roles, new acronyms, new core teachings, new songs and even a new bible.

  WATON, "The WT sign sold a " Brooklyn bridge" type hope, impossible to be delivered by the corporation."

  WT is like the traveling snake oil salesmen in the 1800's. All was great the night the traveling show had their sale and people bought with the hope of a cure. All is well for a few hours until the next morning when everyone realized they had been taken advantage of by a smooth salesman and they had bought a worthless product. In the 1800's they had a posse chase the salesmen down and kill them.

  People were angry about being taken advantage of. Today, we have the internet to warn others of their "snake oil". Let the buyer beware.

  changes coming to canada watchtower where congregations are involved.. i strongly suspect it has to do with the lawsuits and watchtower hiding the loot.. letters coming... wheres wifi bandit??

  Wouldn't that be nice if WT trusted the wrong elder and all those millions were sent by wire to someone else? Let me give you my account number in the Cayman Islands. I'll meet you there later.

  You may laugh, but WT has been taken before, just look at the Branch in Greece.

  CLAM MEETING Dumbing down

  so yesterday was the midweek meeting - the first of the month for december so instead of locals doing the little talk skits we get the on screen shadow puppets.. after each one the ms taking the item asks the congregation for "positive" comments.. part way through i get a text from a pimo brother enduring the show which reads thus (and i quote word for word ...).

  "it's like listening to a bunch of people from a mental institution.

  i've been to the kingdom ministry school (for elders) recently and can report that it is mostly the usual mix of cliches and platitudes.

  several letters where basically just read through one line at a time.

  one point early on though almost made me laugh out loud.

  your thoughts...how is it that trump can dictate what goes on in other countries?

  can anyone from another country come here and tell us what to do...trump is now the president of the world now, uh?.

  i'm not really savvy regarding politics but i'm no dummy either...what the heck is going on in the world.... again, any thoughts ?

  Trump is only moving the US Embasy. It will employ architect's, engineers, and contractors etc.

  Counting time calling on inactive ones?

  had a couple of witnesses stop by yesterday to say the usual "we miss you, missed you at the meeting, just checking in on you, etc.

  " i've always liked this guy so we spoke for a few minutes.

  my wife said that they could count their time since i am inactive.

  While a witness it is best not to talk about field service time, how you count it, when you start, when you stop, etc. I used to love the brothers who at the end of the morning would look at their watch and announce to all how much time we got. Spend all morning long and get back to the hall at 12:45 and they would say, "it looks like we got an hour and a half".

  Does "Hanlon's Razor" apply to the Governing Body?

  i recently learned of the term "hanlon's razor".. wikipedia defines it as: .

  hanlon's razor is an aphorism expressed in various ways including "never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity.

  " it recommends a way of eliminating unlikely explanations for a phenomenon (a philosophical razor).. so could it be said that this applies to the gb / society ?.

  Assembly day Cleveland Ohio (Willoughby ass. Hall) results

  1300 attendance 11 teenagers baptised (.85 growth) $12,000 expenses.

  biggest facepalm moment- teenage pioneer says she pioneers because "the overlapping generation is getting up there in years ,so time is short" as the saying goes "those that don't know history are doomed to repeat it".

  Yes, the end is so much closer. All the more reason for you to immediately contribute all you can. With 30% + drop out rate, you need to pioneer to get more contributors.

  the one thing that annoys me most about being a jdub is the control watchtower has over everyone.

  for a start, there is absolutely no liberty in christ.

  there is no freedom to openly express your own thoughts on scripture.
