A Question For the Guys...
by Quendi inthis thread was inspired by the "a question for the ladies..." thread and anybody is welcome to post.. if you are now free and clear of the wts, how have your dress and grooming changed?
i'll start the ball rolling by saying that i made some changes that i really like.
i'm down to two suits and they are only for job interviews and perhaps some solemn occasion.

I grew a beard after every single guy at work had one but me. (Worldly Pier Pressure) I was working in the back country Appalacian area of Tennessee when this happened. I shaved the beard one day, and my daughter and wife said, "grow your beard back!". Ha Ha.
I will still wear a suit or a tux to special occasions, the orchestra, special night with my wife and I. I've always had a tux but the suits that I buy now are more high fashioned with cuffs on the sleeves of the suit coat, shirts always have cuff links, and I love old western vests. I like to wear high quality clothes and fashionable suits. Ties are optional, but I don't mind spending as much on a tie as most brothers would spend on their suit. Since I am between the age of Brad Pitt and George Clooney, I don't mind showing some class; I've never been cheap. And dignity is not inexpensive.
I've always had to purchase a 4 door "service car" since youth. I sold the 7 passenger service family van, although I wish I hadn't. I drive a Kawasaki Ninja to work, and have a Datsun 280z in the garage being restored. No more service cars. I think I will always have a motorcycle and a sports car, and when my wife finishes nursing school I can't imagine what price tag her tastes will bring, because she has excellent and expensive taste.
With all this humilty that I have displayed, since I have had hip surgery I only wear short pants, and will occasionally go to Hooters or similar venues and have fun with the "older" 22-25 year old waitresses and sometimes I will leave a local "economy supporting tip aiding to their higher education" that used to go to a CO. Sorry Co's, I would rather tip a young women that is nice to me, will bring me a beer without asking, and is seeking the condemned higher educaiton than tipping you. Oh, and I don't put the tip in an envelope with a suck up card either since I never got a part on the assembly or convention anyway.

On the brights side, My ancestors have wasted time since 1919. No regrets, I don't want to go back, leave me alone...no trespassing!

Congratulation! This sound like an interesting job. If you are looking for a new start, I would be careful of talking to any window washers on the ship, they might be JW's.

Are the Watchtower HQ washing their hands of congregations?
by uk_ex_jw init seems more and more from what i read that if there is problems in congregations (i.e.
paedophilia) the wtbts are washing their hands of any wrongdoing and leaving the congregation and its elder's to carry the can.. is that how it is now?.

"No more cars, car insurance, gas bills, health insurance, cost for lodging, ect."
The local congregation flip the bill for lodging (CO apartments) or staying with publishers. The CO apartments construction is done by the quickbuild. Expenses for the utilities and maintenance and paid for at the business meeting at the circuit assemblies.
The local congregation are taxed on a per publisher basis for the cars. I can't remember if they considered the health insurance separate, but the pub pay for that also. I have not seen a CO that used his car in field service ever. At the end of each CO's visit the COPD asked about the expenses during the visit. The CO presents certain things for reinbursement. The COPD must ask about other expenses and that is optional, like Dry Cleaning etc.
The circuit pays for their phones, again handled through the business meeting at the circuit assembly. That's why you can have an assembly with 1200 people and it costs $22K.

Keep your children safe, How to protect your children" Watch Tower Bible and Tract Society quote,
" If a child is taught that he must always obey any adult, regardless of the circumstances, he is vulnerable to abuse. Molesters are quick to notice when children are overly compliant. Wise parents teach their children that obedience is relative."
Interesting that wtbts has always wanted to promote the "spiritual paradise" within the congregation and that we can have trust with our brothers and sisters. We have been instructed for years to trust our brothers and sisters and assume the best, not to suspect our brothers of ill will. Now after the Condi case, they want to put all the responsiblity on the trusting parents as if any abused children are the parents fault, and wtbts had nothing to do with child abuse. Right.
They could have admonished parents 100 years ago not to leave their children alone with anyone. But they didn't!
I have children and have always been protective. However, being overly protective can be overwhelming to a child.
I got a kick out of the "wise parents teach their children that obedience is relative" comment. I think most everyone on this forum understands this now.
It just makes me wonder of the reasons that they did not take child abuse as a priority? Could it be that there are some hidden sins within the GB? that have not come to light and that is the reason that they feel sexual child abuse has not been a priorty? Well maybe the threat of losing 20+ Million will get the hypocrites attention. I hope so.
I believe the bottom line on this article is, "Too little, Too late". Sorry wt, pay the money and take a stand for righteousness sake. This is pitifull.
One more point. There is a big difference between obeying Caesar to the letter of the law (reporting or not reporting child abuse anonymously), and doing what Jesus Christ admonished in the Sermon on the Mount.
Matthew 5:20 says, " 20 For I tell you that unless your righteousness surpasses that of the Pharisees and the teachers of the law, you will certainly not enter the kingdom of heaven."
So tell me, why were wt lawyers given authority over how to handle this. Did they need 18 lawyers, or did they need to listen to (if they have one) a trained conscience?

I have listed 10 facts I have learned coming on this site, please feel free to add yours
by smiddy ini would like to list 10 facts i have learned since coming on this site ,facts i wasn`t aware of while in the movement and facts that have set me free from a religous movement that really is not interested in facts per se.. these are not listed in order of importance , and feel free to add your own list that applys to your circumstances.
1.the wtb&ts involvement with the u.n.. 2.the wtb&ts investments/shares some of which are questionable.. 3.their real estate properties around the world, millions if not billions, of $$$, while being a not for profit organization.
4.their pretense of obeying the law on" blood" while conveniently adjusting it to minimise their legal obligations in threat of a lawsuit.

"9. Adam didn't have a penis"
I thought at one time they believed that Adam had the male and female sexual organs.
