  Governing body member engaged... Again!

  just found out that the australian governong body member known as geoffrey jackson got engaged to a sister about two weeks ago.

  it really shocked me at first but then i remembered how other members of the gb have remarried in the past like daniel sidlik.

  what made me say "woah" was hearing that the holy bride to be is really young!

  2013 Circuit Assembly programs on jw.org

  i just happened to pay a visit to hypertexttransferprotocol colon backslash backslash worldwide web dot jw dot org (http://www.jw.org), my absolute favorite website of all time right now, and i noticed they have assembly programs for 2013 on there.. it looks like the programs have similar themes as this year's convention, themed "safeguard your heart".

  the assembly program is themed "safeguard your mind" and the special assembly day is themed "safeguard your conscience", unless i've confused the two, i really don't feel like going back to look at them right now, the files opened up at like 198% magnification and it creeped the hell out of me, it was like a giant recurring nightmare in 3-d or something.

  it sounds like they're really worried about the jw mindset right now, or else why have programs with those themes?

  No more 3-day DCs starting in 2013?

  apologies if there is another recent thread on this, but i have heard from 4 different people in 3 different geographic areas (including someone who does advance work for the dcs), that beginning in 2013 the three day dc program will be replaced by a second two-day circuit assembly.

  some people were passing the info along like a secret, others seemed to think that everyone already knew.. if everyone in j-dub land is already talking about this, how is it not all over this forum??.

  anyway, can anyone confirm or deny?.

  last saturday i was home with my wife,having a leisurely brekky pottering around in the kitchen ,then i noticed her standing still pondering ,what`s up i asked , wife :i thought i heard someone knocking ,i looked out the window to see two middle aged guys exciting my front drive.why didn`t you tell me they were their,i didn`t hear them.

  i would have engaged them in conversation , but my wife doesn`t think i ought to,just let it go ,is her motto.. but my point is : i`m not deaf , and i didn`t hear them at the door , we were both in the front room ,my wife only thought she heard someone at the door only to be proved right observing them leaving i was in my pj`s and dressing gown so was not going to pursue them.

  we have been living here nearly 5 years now and i can honestly say they have never been on our doorstep more than 4 times if that , i personally have only encountered them 3 times at the most.

  Sir 82, I have seen this before in various forms. One service overseer came to our bookstudy and gave us a butt chewing telling us that we had slacked off. The SO told us that we had a 6-7 hour average and needed to really think about our spiritual condition. I took all the cards and several were regular auxilary or auxilaring often. Basically what he did was give the average for the elderly and unbaptized publishers; the pioneering counted for nothing.

  I called him up told him that he was manipulating the numbers to make the study look bad and he did not like it. I also told him that he needed to apologize to the bookstudy. He didn't. It was like he knew as a pioneer that you had to keep the publishers thinking they are not doing anything. It's clowns like this that made me want to do even less. Obviously, this type of "encouragement" is having it's real effect shown now.

  dgp, too funny, I guess you didn't end up with the sister? Personally, I didn't get married for spiritual reasons, but I can just imagine the iceberg in the relationship when your given a fam book to study.

  Interesting what Witnesses study for. In addition to "studying" to become married, ms's will study to become an elder. "Where's your husband", wife, "he's studying to become an elder". Oh, right. He's looking at porn.

  Personally, I think wt should send a letter every month telling the elders to shut their mouths. Confidentiality may axe.

  Any new light on windows in the KH

  remodeling is being done on the kh in my area.. friends have come to me inquiring about the remodeling.. it,s been two months.

  first they ask , why no windows.. i told them some kh have windows.

  soon after windows.

  This is a valid point. Quick build standardized plans do not come with windows. I'm alittle rusty on this, but the local elders (congregation) have to ask for them. In one city in Texas the brothers took the standardized quick build plans to the city to get a building permit. The city denied the permit, said the congregation must hire an architect, structural engineer, and comply with building code. Architecturally the code reads that every x number of feet there will be a column, corner, window, or other architectual feature. The city further told RBC, "your not building an ugly box in this city".

  Of course the QB brothers were arrogant and difficult trying to push the matter, but the city won. Cities now have master planners and are trying to build more aesthetically pleasing buildings in the community. I can see their frustration. What if someone wanted to build an ugly house next to yours?

  In rural areas the standardized plans are just built with little regard to building a beautiful building. David and Solomon would be ashamed.

  it is commonly a human tendency to see your enemies/opponents as somehow bestial, subhuman, stupid and the like.

  so, i hesitate to simply 'write off' the governing body as utter fools, senile, drunk, arrogant beyond logic, or lost in 2012 as the representatives of a 19th century religion.. nonetheless, it's simply hard to believe that they can fail to notice the intensifying confluence of negative trends and decline that surrounds them.
