foolednomore, if you can afford to, give the MS's a raise and not the elder --and go ahead and cut his hours as he goes home early. Mom always said those who don't listen have to feel...I bet he would get the message!

Jehovah`s Witness Elders who were Business men in The Congregations I Attended.
by smiddy3 ina number of topics have covered work experiences by members who have encountered crticism for having a full time job .in the last few congregations i had attended this was never an issue as elders had businesses they owned and employed brothers and sisters .. while i personally never worked for a jw, both my young sons did at one time or another and my wife did also .i have always worked full time in secular employment and have never been criticised for doing so .and to my knowledge nobody else ever had that experience.. in the first cong.i attended an po as they were called at the time was an insurance agent and his bro.
was an assistant po also worked with the same ins,agency.. other congs,i attended one elder was an owner of a cabinet making firm while about 3 other different elders were self employed builders who ran their own business and employed others to work for them .. at the same time a couple of ms servants had their own plastering business going on supporting these elders business.. so i`m just wondering whether this is just depending on where you are from in the world and what time period we are talking about.. the time i`m talking about was in the sixties and seventies and the area was in s.e.

Where it all went wrong for the WT - JF Rutherford
by LoveUniHateExams ini was thinking a bit about this the other day.
ct russell, from what i remember about him, kinda seemed like a genuine, nice(ish) guy, although he had a few eccentric but harmless ideas.. during the russell era jws (actually bible students) could still celebrate christmas, worship in other churches if there was no kingdom hall available, and accept blood transfusions.. then after russell died, along came rutherford - a major league a-hole, for sure.. rutherford had plenty of eccentric ideas but at least some of them weren't/aren't harmless.
some have been long forgotten about - jesus depicted without a beard, the plan to rename the names of the week because names such as thursday (thor's day) is pagan, the articles about the 'dangers' of aluminium, etc.. one key contribution of rutherford which does a lot of harm is no blood transfusions, even in life-threatening situations.. another is shunning, something which never occurred under russell, or at least was much milder.. rutherford has a lot to answer for, i reckon ....

I am thinking Beth Serim...if I spelled that correctly...what a bill of goods that got sold so Rutherford could go and live there with a woman who was there to "massage"...call me a sceptic! We were instructed to look at origins when it came to holidays, etc...If people applied the same counsel to the beginnings of WT, they wise up. I can't believe how gullible I was for 50 years.

I am still listening to In Search of Christian Freedom by raymond Franz...He has written about brothers in business And Like Foolednomore,he was writing about brothers who didn't treat their employees welll...but it worked both ways because in some instances the employees who were JW weren't as productive and caused more issues. I think both parties have a right to expect to be treated fairly-because they are Christian, right! It is almost laughable.

Do you believe that this life is all there is
by Fisherman inthe bible records resurrections and there is orher evidence besides that gives hope.
what do you think, is there enough evidence to believe in another life?.

let the Bible be found true though every man a liar. I believe there is going to be a resurrection. I believe what happened in those near death experiences was a presentation of what those people either consciencely or subconsciencely believed before the experience. If they had trully died, they wouldn't have lived to tell the experience. The life force was still in the body.

New and improved?
by tenyearsafter ini have a family member who had been df'ed for 15 years or so...recently they reinstated as a jw.
when i asked what motivated them to make that decision, the response was to be able to see family and old friends.
they insisted that things were different now.

as to speaking in your own words...you just have to reword what you see...if you veer off topic, you would be roped back in. I just watched a video where a brother brought out a scripture that put what was written in bad light. The WT was wrong and the Scripture was correct...He got a visit letting him know he went against the slave and he couldn't reason with them that the Bible was more important to believe than the GB. He recorded it...it was disgusting. I don't know how elders can conduct that WT study knowing some of errors in it...I quit...I am not promoting lies that I KNOW to be lies.

It occurred to me, that some likely started whatever business so they could have more say over their time-therefore, clearing up time for service. I personally started a little-stayed little- business because it paid me better than minimum wage but not welfare. Mr x worked with me part time. It freed him ...he could aux pioneer and go to all the hall builds -be just a good-ole-boy and come home and rage at me if we didn't have enough money. So I am thinking some started a business so as to preach more and it just grew to the point of employees. I hired a sister once ( part time ) while I was starting out. I was never good enough for her. One day while we were working, she told me I needed to get my priorities straignt. (decode: you are too materialistic and not spiritual )( note: I couldn't afford to keep her hired, but because she depended on the work, I put before myself) I knew where she was going with me not having my priorities straight so I fed it: " Yes, I do. I am going to work hard and get this business off the ground and make lots of money"

" seems written for the uneducated" I have found this to be true now for years...It is insulting to most intelligence. What is it-written on a second grade level? Then the updates-the presenters speak like you were talking to 2 year olds. Just my take.

2022 convention stand-outs, clift notes, comments?? the good, the bad, the ugly...
by enoughisenough inhere is the thing: i tried several times to watch the convention...i just couldn't seem to forge ahead with it.
the reason i wanted to was to be able to engage in conversation about it with some of my old friends that communicate by phone that don't know i have disassociated.
i want to be able to slip in seeds of doubt, but at the same time i have to seem a bit current...) so i welcome to know any take outs, commentary, good or bad, or the video plots, etc.

we answer, no.

a thought while reading the comments: people don't seem to be satisfied with the color of their skin or hair. White people will ruin their health in tanning bed or broiling in the hot sun. At conventions, I would see the white sisters with dark tans . I would see white sisters in black hosiery and I would see black sisters in white hosiery. Some of the white gals had perms that tightly curled their hair while the blacks straigthened their hair. I am not faulting anyone...I love the diversity and see beauty no matter the skin color. I liked a comment from Patti Labelle on racism: we all bleed and we all pee.My grandfather would tell us what our ancestory is: English, Irish, Dutch, and Devil -LOL ///I watched a video yesterday where a youtuber went into the old hidden literature and showed a paragraph ( paraphasing ) that for the most part blacks were uneducated and couldn't understand the literature, so in only special circumstance should they have it because if was too valuable for to be wasted on them.
