Replacing God?

we seem to be if a more secular society here in the west, these days.

i'm speaking from the uk.. with the lack of belief in god/s, i'm wondering if all the seeming (note: i said seeming!

), deification of people like greta thunberg, george floyd and celebs amongst others, if people who have no real belief system, are filling the gap left by god with people?.

Jesus said, "happy are those conscience of their spiritual need" or blessed are the poor in spirit :‘Poor in spirit’ is an odd phrase to modern ears, outside religious circles anyway. The traditional explanation, especially among evangelicals, is that it means people who recognise their own spiritual poverty, their need for God. Blessed are those who mourn is taken to mean people who repent and mourn for their sins. ( copied and pasted from I can't remember where )

If ones just evolved from a big bang and pond slime, why would they feel a need to build gods of wood or stone?

Some have ceased to-if they ever did- believe the Bible, but over Rev 11:18 ( written 96 CE ) told of a time the earth would be in ruination. ( "bring to ruin those ruining the earth )-so Greta's message isn't really so new .

How would you get a hold of your own Introduction Letter

i'm sure there is some unflattering things mentioned in my family 's introduction letter.

how would one get a copy of it?

i'm sure law suits will happen.

foolednomore...I don't know what he did if anything...quite a few years had passed. (I know what I would have done -they would have something else to report about!) I do know one of the brothers who had part in writing the letter was always picking on the brother the letter was about. I worked with the elders wife and the elder brother worked with the brother who moved away. The wife was always telling me : J had to staighten Je out again today! ( poor Je was not up to par!)

I wonder if they destroy all intro letters after 5 years ( as I gathered somewhere along the way) then they would just have the overlapping one ( haha ) to pass on. Personally I don't think it is justice that there are letters passed around about you and you aren't allowed to know what it is. ( but what leg do you have to stand on it you agreed to the oath you took if baptized after 1985? One brother I knew of later became secretary in a new congregation and read the horrid things written about him.

BettyHumpter....I do watch some conspiracy theories...Some are quite interesting...can't be proved or disproved PLEASE FEEL FREE TO DISPROVE ANY CONSPIRACY THAT YOU THINK I MAY BELIEVE... However, a lot of what you may consider conspiracies are not conspiracy but are presented by accredited professionals who know what they are talking about and have evidence and data as back up Some people are brave enough to go out on a limb, to speak against the present agendas so as to warn people. Some things are called conspiracy by the mainstream media and even JWs as conspiracy because they want to discredit the presenters....they don't want their lies exposed. Then there are some things that people consider conspiracy that the powers that be have published for the world to see, but they don't look at it and when/if they do, they don't believe it.

Latest jw broadcast referring to allegations of protecting pedophiles

hi folks.. i put this in abuse as i thought it relevant.. a physically in mentally out friend that considers our friendship greater than religion told me that on the latest broadcast steven lett alluded to satans voice being behind people that claim the organisation protects pedophiles.. my friend then went on to say they must be in damage control.. he added, but that is correct, they are hiding their internal records.

is not that construed as protecting the accused?.

if i get the inclination i may post a snippet of what was actually said.. sadly my friend is trying to protect his family relationships and so goes along with the charade.. his situation weighs on me but, as many of you here know, it can be a difficult road to travel.. jtg.

I sent a friend of mine emails linking the clip of Lett ( that is in this discussion) I also sent a linked news article about the Lawyers being sanctioned for mispresenting ( lies) and then a link to the court's judgement where Brumbly was found in the wrong. I got back and email not to send anything more! I had been sending some other errors I found in what WT says and the attitude was, they aren't inspired and I am sorry you have doubts. Conclusion: people are deluded and love the lies! Once in a phone conversation I said how we had been preaching lies to people and their attitude : it was not lies--we just hadn't new light yet. It is all so disgusting!

1985 and baptism...I wish I had read this before today

i am posting a link as to being legally bound to jw rules at time of baptism.

i only did a quick skim, but what i gathered is interesting, and what it says about 1985 may be of use to some hoping to just fade and not be bothered.

in 1985, the questions were changed at baptism for legal purposes so they could have causation to defend themselves should you decide to sue for whatever reason.

it is safe to say there isn't full disclosure or no one would get baptized into the organization. They think they are getting baptized in the name of Father, Son, and Holy Spirit...( maybe if they have seen a baptism before hand...but would they actually be paying attention to the meaning of the words?) It is interesting how you hear and see things differently once you become "awake" to the game.

I have been trying to remember an article in the WT or AWake,(or maybe something else ) where in before the "pandemic", the artwork showed people wearing mask....Anyway, my thought later was this was a sort of preprogramming...( like they knew in advance what was coming ) I mentioned it to a sister that it appeared they knew in advance and she said yeah ( missing the point )-like Jehovah gave them that knowlegde. I want to review that photo or artwork and the timing I thought it was on the cover of a magazine, but a search of the covers of late 2019 covers and 2020 didn't reveal what I was looking for. ( or I missed it. ) ( The point of this is, I think they knew this whole scamdemic was about to roll out. They even did their own shut down before the states- -no field service, meetings ( what better way to convince the sheep they have special insight ) Am I the only one who smells a rat here? And look at the leverage they had to make sure some in other places got the jabs in a timely fashion-they made brags about that? Anyway, I am inclined to think they are getting information from a higher source and it isn't from Almighty God. If anyone knows of that artwork I am thinking of, I hope you post it.

it is a very long time since i was an elder and the elders textbooks have changed multiple times since then.

going back to when i was an elder, to the best of my knowledge the only way a spouse could divorce from his/her partner was porneia, if that person had sexual relations with a man, woman, child, or beast.

but it had to be proven and that's the dubious 2 witness rule.. in fact, if it was not proven and the innocent party divorced and married someone else, then they could be hauled up in front of a judicial committee and be charged with committing adultery and disfellowshipped!

I wonder what would have happened if I would have told of the numerous times I saw and elder's wife pinching the behind of another elder ( all in good fun, of course-though it did seem brazen ) ( then the question becomes, if a person is so brazen to behave so in plain view, what may be going on out of sight? hmmm! ) Something else I saw was the same elder who was getting his behind pinched,pinched a hired painter who was on a ladder and said woo-who! The painter looked rather shocked.

story: a few years back, 2 sisters were do cart work at a festival. They sat in two chairs fairly close together for the most part while they waited and watched for interest in the literature. So one of the sisters had gotten up to talk to someone and a lesbian approached and wanted to sit in the empty chair because she had assumed she had met one of her own kind. The sister told her she could sit and attempted to witness to her. The lesbian finially went and got her girlfriend and introduced her to the witness telling her they were J W.
