If I recall what I was told, a man told me when he was 16, he conducted the school for a while. This would have been mid 1960s in WV.

The young elder topic made me think of this
by enoughisenough init somehow never set well with me that if a boy got baptized that his mother couldn't pray or hold a study with him or in his presence without a headcovering.
maybe some of you were baptized as a boy in the home...how did that make you feel?
( like knowing you had rank over your mom???

joe134cd a little off topic from where I started, but what about the scripture Matt 23:9 where Jesus said not to call anyone on earth "father" for you only have one father who is in heaven. I worked for a man once who called himself Father Sta??? and I always made sure to address him as Mr. Sta???( don't remember his religion, but it wasn't Catholic) Maybe calling them Father is a respect to them, but clearly in conflict with Jesus's statement. It makes you wonder how/why they dare to usurp God's position.

Just read that Carl Olof Jonsson died yesterday
by slimboyfat infor newbies, who was carl olof jonsson?
he was a jw in sweden who was challenged by a householder in the 1960s, who pointed out to him that secular history books don’t agree with watchtower that jerusalem was destroyed in 607 bce, but instead place the event 20 years later.
the reason the date is important is because it is the starting date for jw chronology which leads to 1914 as the end of the gentile times, and the beginning of the last days, as jws understand it.

just thinking about how "pumped up with pride" they will be and also their JW parents. Can you imagine a 20 year old lording it over his grandmother?

Can watchtower really continue with cart preaching?
by Hellothere incan watchtower really continue with cart preaching?
it has become like zoom.
we're people attending zoom not wanting attend halls.

I personally felt the cart was more effective than driving around knocking door where people were not interested or not at home. At lease at the cart, those interested will engage with you. We usually ended up placing some literature and some even started studies. ( sometimes the people who wanted to engage with you were more interested in talking to you than about what you were there for (as in try to pick you up!)

Is the GB equal to God & Christ?
by BoogerMan inw56 6/1 p. 346 par.
rebellion against the slave is rebellion against god.. w57 6/15 p. 370 par.
7 - it is vital that we appreciate this fact and respond to the directions of the “slave” as we would to the voice of god, because it is his provision.. w10 9/15 p. 23 par.

Everyone is different...once I was settled in my mind that I had been made a fool of for 50 years and had taught people lies, I couldn't get the letter out fast enough! I knew the price. I didn't want them to think I was a member-howbeit inactive. I think the fact that you are asking the question is telling ....I am wondering it the readers go to the end signature first to see who is doing the writing...so I am back to an alias...
When I wrote, I started out showing research on the GB quoting WT and then I put in the scriptures that disputed the GB. They acknowledged the research but still defended the org. I have no respect for them!

Do Jehovah's Witnesses view faithfulness to Jehovah as being equivalent to faithfulness to the Governing Body?
by Vanderhoven7 ini thought this was an interesting response to the question.
"being faithful and loyal to god implies or includes.
being faithful to your spouse (hebrews 13:4),.

When I left the org, my best "friend" said " I have to loyal to Jehovah"...the JW cannot separate God Almighty from the false teachings of the GB...I said: you are being loyal to 8 men.
