i shared some thoughts from the 1989 question from readers concerning christ being mediator between god and man ( the wt spinning that he isn't ) and also the paragraph in that same article that plainly says: clearly, then the new covenant is not a loose arrangement open to all mankind.

it is a carefully arranged legal provision involving god and anointed christians.

Why would it take over 800 pages to defend a practice if there was nothing wrong with the practice? ( thou protests too much )

ThomasMore, I caught that point about the clergy and thought the same thing! It would be interesting to ask a JW if they have a clergy. If you had asked me, there would have been a time I would have said no.

Funny how this "crackpot's" mind works but I had a thought about some videos about the GT that I think may be coming up in a study in July...( stand to be corrected ) Anyway, the thing that came to my mind was how they predict the GT is imminent (that's not really new ) and the governments would turn on God's people ( the JWs in particular )...so as my brain goes, when the officials start looking closer and closer at the CSA cases, then the witnesses will just feel like that is the fulfillment of prophecy, ( something like that ) so they will not pay attention to the real issue of CSA.

I provided the scriptures to support that Jesus is our mediator and also scriptures to support the New Covenant is about forgiveness of sins for the many. I got this response back: I know that Jesus has given up his life for us all. A 34 year old WT is not going to shake my faith that this is the organization that he and Jehovah are using today. ....

So it was like that older article with it's false teaching means nothing because it is older, even though they still teach the same lies. This thing of "new light" and the older magazines being irrelevante has really done a number on the heads of JWs.

I had another person tell me that the older magazines didn't count because apostates had at one time infiltrated the society and they had to be cleaned out. I find it all disgusting...so glad I am out!

my point was JW interpret the Bible to suit their agenda regardless of what Jesus himself was recorded to have said. ( besides how else is there to interpret what Jesus said at Matt 12:50? He spoke plainly-it wasn't a riddle.)

“Lord when did we see you naked and hungry… the least of my brothers.. you did it to me." I like it that you wrote JW profess to be Christ's brothers. WT 11/5/15 page 26,27 identified Christ's brothers as "his anointed representatives" and "involves submission to his brothers" The study edition of March 2015 also promotes the anointed as Christ's brothers that we should support according to WT. That however is not what Jesus said. Matt 12:50" For WHOEVER does the will of my Father who is in heaven, that one is my brother and sister and mother." see Mark 3:35, Luke 8:21 So it isn't just self proclaimed anointed that are Christ's brothers that we will be judged as to how we treat, but anyone doing his Father's will. But that doesn't work with the WT lies that want you to obey the GB because they are "likened to the voice of Jesus"...

A JW friend and I used to frequent a local restaurant together so often that if one of us showed up the waiter/owner would ask if the other was coming as well. Today I went there for lunch. He asked if ?? was coming as well. I told him I had quit my religion so?? wasn't allowed to have anything to do with me. He questioned: Jehohvah's Witness? I said, "Yes". He said, " Good! I never believed it, but I respected others ." ( some don't think you should say you are no longer a witness, but I don't think that way. Speaking of it may keep someone else from getting fooled somewhere down the road. While on the subject, I did have a cousin who told me she had prayed for years for me to leave it.
