Our congregation received a detailed letter today to begin off-line meetings at the Kingdom Hall from April 1. A document A-261(?) has been provided giving instructions regarding conducting hybrid meetings. A thorough cleaning will be taking place tomorrow and each region has been assigned a branch rep will oversee the transition.

Only those congregations will continue using zoom whose kingdom halls are under renovation, or who used to rent places for holding meetings and have left the place during the pandemic.

i saw the post on reddit and the thread got many responses..can anybody believe the religion is still saying this??

it has to be as plain as day that so many jws are poor and struggling today because they never got a career or decent job years ago.. sadly, there are still witnesses who believe money will fall from heaven if they are in the full-time ministry.

they expect some miracle to occur..but, we all know the truth: people in the congregation will be hit up for yet more money for another bunch of irresponsible people pursuing poverty.

The thing is that you will find such people in almost every religion. Such JW's would have been poor even if they weren't JW's.

I strongly feel that sometimes hard work, financial sense, and future planning are never the forte of some people, and being a JW, non-JW, or Ex-Jw doesn't change that. The inherent characteristic of a person remains unchanged irrespective of whether he belongs to a cult or not.

That's why you have congregations where you will have a mix of the super-rich and super poor elders, and super-rich and super poor pioneers, and the same with publishers too.

Lloyd made a lot of videos on Rutherford and his extra-marital affairs. In his videos, he mentioned that "while there is no cast-iron evidence that Rutherford really kept a mistress, rumors and suspicions of his marital unfaithfulness really question his credibility as a hero of JW's".

So Lloyd makes videos and documentaries exposing other people's marriages, extra-affairs, and liquor buying habits, but at the time, believes that his own marital unfaithfulness is his private affair and shouldn't be exposed and condemned?

To people sympathizing with Lloyd: Can't you really see the disconnect here?

The day text is correct.

The Bible students in Russell's time believed in 3 classes: First made up of the 144,000, followed by a secondary heavenly class of the 'great multitude', and an earthly class of obedient humans who will live forever on earth.

In 1935, Rutherford revised it to 2 classes: A heavenly class of 144,000 and an earthly class of the 'great multitude' with other resurrected ones.

Child pornography should NOT be automatically handled by a judicial committee

they have updated their policy on viewing child pornography.. from a congregation standpoint it is not viewed as child sex abuse and is something that should not be automatically handled by a judicial committee.

it states that a person viewing child pornography should be strongly counseled.

Not sure about any recent update, as per the latest elders book, Child pornography is considered a form of child abuse, and an abhorrent form of pornography viewing and is handled judicially (with a circuit overseer as a JC Chairman)

Child sexual abuse is a perversion and generally includes sexual intercourse ... Depending on the circumstances of the case, it may include involvement with child pornography or sexting with a minor.

Para 6:

Child abuse is a crime. In some jurisdictions, individuals who learn of an allegation of child abuse may be obligated by law to report the allegation to the secular authorities.—Rom. 13:1-4.

Child Pornography and Sexting: If the elders become aware of an adult associated with a congregation who has been involved with child pornography, two elders should immediately call the Legal Department. Likewise, if the elders become aware of an adult or a minor associated with a congregation who is sexting with a minor, the Legal Department should be called immediately.

Dip, if they are still counting members as everyone who is not DF’d or DA’d as a member, they are still counting me

Biahi, Have you reported or turned in a Field Service Report in the last 6 months? If yes, then you will be counted. If no, you are tagged as an inactive publisher and are not counted anywhere.

In the Analysis report that is submitted every September, only those publishers are counted who have reported at least once in the last 6 months.

Watchtower Disparages the Bible

i'm looking for wts quotations that contrast with ii timothy 3:15-16 whereby they downplay scripture.. here is one from way back..

"...people cannot see the divine plan in studying the bible by itself...if he then lays them [scripture studies] aside and ignores them and goes to the bible alone, though he has understood his bible for ten years, our experience shows that within two years he goes into darkness.

on the other hand, if he had merely read the scripture studies with their references, and had not read a page of the bible, as such, he would be in the light at the end of the two years, because he would have the light of the scriptures," (watchtower, sept. 15, 1910, p. 298).

Do Jehovah's Witnesses believe that people can be saved and sanctified through reading and studying the Bible alone without knowing anything about the Watchtower organization?

Don't know about the JW's, but there are instances in the Bible where people did not understand the Christian teaching by reading the Bible alone, and needed additional help:

1. Ethiopian eunuch: He did not understand what he was reading from Isaiah, so Philip had to help him

2. Appollos: Did not understand the scriptures better,so Aquilla and Priscilla had to explain it to him.
