They are living it down now because many of those people who remember it are dead.
Interesting that almost all current GB members were alive and baptized during that period
one word for it.....apostate!

earlier this week a new post on this forum announced that the 2017 worldwide annual service report was available on jw.org.
wow - that's earlier than the statistics for the 2016 service year which appeared in the 2017 yearbook last january!
good effort, jw organization!
I was also wondering, Incognito, if this includes unbaptised publishers including young children , as total jw's in a particular country?
No, it includes only baptized and unbaptized publishers. There is no practice of counting those who do not turn in their field service reports.
Also, are women who cannot be " ministerial servants" now " ministers"? And can they now officially " teach"?
In JW land, women can be ministers, and they have explained this :

just had a coffee on way home when two young mums with babys in strollers came in with the usual bags and stuff for the little ones needs.
i recall our days of little ones and the times we rarely went out.. i bought a coffee voucher for each mum and gave them my best wishes.
i delight in doing random acts of kindness.. i wish everyone here as well a safe and happy christmas/ new year time.
They , JW`s just end up as parasites in the community they live in taking all the benefits a Government offers without giving anything back in return.
I don't agree with this. Individual JW's pay their taxes and hence as legal citizens they have a right to government benefits as other citizens.
In India, there are people who donate thousand of rupees to charity, but hide away millions of rupees away and don't pay their taxes. JW's are better than them.
just wondering if there is any data about how many anointed there were in say 1914, and considering most would have passed 'beyond the veil' already, are the jw's numbers adding up?
we know there are more in 2017 then there were in 2016, but just where are we in the grand total column?.
How many anointed have come and gone
The WT still maintains that the 18000 or so who take the bread and wine are 'partakers'. Only Jehovah knows how many are anointed in that group.
So even if the number crosses 144k, JW;s will say that they were just partakers, only 144k out of them are true anointed ones and only Jehovah knows who they are.

The number of congregations can increase because of double counting in the same way the WT can double-count publishers.Congregation B and C are merged creating another congregation + 1.
4 congregations + 1 new congregation = 5 congregations.
No. The number of congregations are counted on the basis of the numbers of congregations who submitted their Yearly 2016 Congregation Analysis Report.
So in your example there were not 5, but only 3 congregations counted for the stats as in September 2017, as only 3 congregations submitted their Cong Analysis Report

So the more publishers you stuff in at the top then the more baptised dribble out of the bottom. The higher the increase in the worldwide publisher number then the more likely that the baptism number will increase in the following years.
Thanks for the explanation freddo. It was clear except for the above point.
If we assume that there are less converts and more born-ins who are getting baptized, would the above statement of yours take the premise that more and more JW kids are staying in the religion and then having kids who are becoming JW's, thus repeating this cycle and the rate of publisher increase is equaling the world population growth?
Because, if JW's have low retention rate( born-ins are leaving the cult) and outside converts are also less, then the peak publishers should go down at some point.
For e.g. In my congregation of 40 publishers, almost everyone is a born-in JW, i.e. all had witness parents. There has not been a single convert in years, but the publisher number is increasing because existing witnesses are having kids who are growing up as JW's. So, in reality, in my cong, born-ins are staying in the org. Is this a worldwide trend?

They can also count children who accompany their parents as they go door to door.
No. Children are not counted unless they are unbaptized publishers
the report is finally out.......... ————————.
recommendations to the jehovah’s witness organisation.
recommendation 16.27. the jehovah’s witness organisation should abandon its application of the two-witness rule in cases involving complaints of child sexual abuse.. recommendation 16.28. the jehovah’s witness organisation on should revise its policies so that women are involved in processes related to invesation and determining allegations of child sexual abuse.. recommendation 16.29. the jehovah’s witness organisation should no longer require its members to shun those who disassociate from the organisation in cases where the reason for disassocia on is related to a person being a victim of child sexual abuse..
Why is this not on JWdotorg in the news section?
The recommendations are not on JW.org. However, the reply to one of the recommendations is on the JW morning worship video by Gary Breaux
they seem to think that all they will do is enjoy a carefree life with little or no concerns problems or worries whereas nothing could be further from the truth... according to the bible.. without trying to speculate on these concerns or problems during this one thousand year reign of christ jesus ,lets hear what the bible has to say about the end of his thousand year reign.. rev.20:7-10 satan is to be let out of his prison {as if he hasn`t done enough damage in 6000 years of roaming about in the earth at the same time fraternizing with jesus and jehovah in heaven} i digress.. and the reason he is let out of prison ,lo and behold ,is to mislead those nations in the four corners of the earth gog and magog to gather them together for the war.
{ here we go again ,armageddon didn`t solve anything we have to go through another one.
} 1000 years later.. now get this it`s not just some isolated little skirmish with a few hundred or even a few thousand dissenters ,as the bible states they number the sands of the seashore and they advanced over the breadth of the earth and encircled the camp {not a nation but a camp} of the holy ones.and the beloved city.. with that description it would seem the holy ones are in the minority and the opposes apparently were spread over all the earth.. so that description of the bible to me about jc 1000 rule does not appear to be one of living in a paradise , that is not on the agenda until after jesus christ 1000 year reign and only if you are lucky enough to survive another test/war of your loyalty after all you have gone through previously.. i wonder if this realization is one of the reasons why so many now are claiming to be of the anointed because as one of the other sheep you have to pass another test after the 1000 years of christ jesus rule whereas of one of the anointed on death now you go straight to heaven ..
I have news for them
Jw's already know about the final test that is waiting for them after the end of 1000 years. They have printed this multiple times in their publications.
why so many now are claiming to be of the Anointed
So many? only 0.2% of all witnesses claim to be of the Anointed

I am unable to understand the comparisons people make with these numbers (someone can explain it to me clearly):
1. Some people compare the growth of the world population (say 1.12%) with the growth in peak publishers (1.4%). However, not all kids born to JW's are counted automatically in the peak publishers as they would need some more years to become an unbaptized publisher. Similarly, not all JW kids become publishers or get baptized. So, many JW kids may never be counted in the JW stats. Am I wrong somewhere?
2. Some people count the number of hours spent to the number of people baptized. (say 7000 hrs for 1 baptism). I wonder if such calculation mean anything. Many of the 284,000 baptized in 2017 many have been studied with in the previous service years (Not all who are preached or studied get baptized in that particular year). While the people who were preached in 2017 will probably get baptized in the next or its next service year). Plus, those of the people preached in 2017 will get counted in the peak publisher count too as unbaptized publishers. I hope I am not confusing. The number of people baptized may not have a direct relation to the number of hours spent in that service year.
3. Plus another factor is considering that JW membership requires that a certain number of hours are spent on a person before he gets baptized. A person who is preached doesn't get baptized the next day or the next week. A publisher has to spend few months to get his student become an unbaptized publisher and then a few months to get him baptized. Same for kids. So how would this factor into the calculations? How does this compare with becoming a member of another religion. How easy its to get 284,000 people baptized into the JW religion and to get the same number baptized into some other Christian sect?
