Secret sex in the Org

2 pioneers of the opposite sex.

the brother is in his mid-20s, sister is in her late 20s.

This had happened quite a but in my congregation.

The girl, a pioneer, and the guy, a MS, had fooled around a few times at his house in his car in the garage. They were both teens. The story goes either the girl got a guilty conscience and fessed up or her sister saw them and told the elders herself. By the end, the girl got public reproof and the guy got df'd. I knew the guy and could tell he was remorseful. The guy got reinstated, but he slept with a non JW girl, got df'd again and hasn't returned since.

Funnily enough, the same girl got involved in another sex scandal as well. This time she slept with the son of another MS/auxiliary pioneer. They probably could've kept the secret this time, except she wound up pregnant. This time, they were both df'd.

I know one in particular of an elder's daughter had multiple boyfriends and had sexted other guys as well. I felt bad for her in particular because she was constantly held up as an example in the hall and was always under so much pressure to be perfect. The other elders covered up what she did, but I bet her father will never let her forget it.

granted, i'm a pimo status, so i normally just play on my cell phone and ignore everything during meetings and assemblies.

but at the assembly this past weekend, my ears were pricked for two experiences of two sisters dedicating themselves to pioneering.

this was probably because i was extremely freaked out by both of them.

But at the assembly this past weekend, my ears were pricked for two experiences of two sisters dedicating themselves to pioneering. This was probably because I was extremely freaked out by both of them.

Their entire spiel consisted of "I worked part time. I began asking myself how I could do more for Jehovah. If you have to ask, you aren't doing enough. So I asked my boss to cut my hours to 10 a week. At first everything was great. I was completely happy slaving for Jehovah and making disciples. Then my boss said we were understaffed and I would have to work more. I realized I could no longer slave for two masters. So I decided to be Jehovah's slave. And honestly, that's the best slave we should be. Something we all should aspire to. There's happiness being his little obedient slaves." Talk about no valuable skills and being dependent for life.

The audience ate it up with a spoon. Ignoring the racial subtext for a second (both women being black and going on how they loved being slaves), I was a bit bewildered that no one saw anything wrong with catering to someone else's whims with no life of their own. Being a slave for everything else is terrible, so what makes Jehovah (a God whose proven to be...imperfect-to say the least) so special.

I then tried to broach the subject on a friend of mine whose still mentally in. I said "I'm not super comfortable with the word slave". "Oh that. Satan gave the word the negative connotations it has when he instituted slavery against the blacks. I know you're African-American yourself so it concerns you. But slaving for Jehovah is great, because he's a perfect God and your life won't go wrong if you serve him obediently".

Couldn't help but think maybe I read into things too deeply, but everyone's reacts were so bizarre, blindly accepting. Makes me glad I'm PIMO.

The prayer switch

something that i have often thought about is how does god know when our thoughts go from normal thoughts to when we say a silent prayer?

does god listen to all of the thoughts of earth's 8,000,000,000 people 24/7 and when one person goes into prayer mode then god's ears perk up with an "incoming" alert?

then he has to decide if he answers the prayers to help a brother with cancer or just let the poor guy die.

God knows silent prayers because he's all knowing. He can do anything. Except fix the conditions of the world because he just has to prove Satan wrong. Yeah, he can do everything except that.

When You Were A JW Did You Ever Stand For The National Anthem?

as a witness i always found a way to not have to embarrass myself by sitting down for the national anthem.. i’m curious.

how many of you stood up for the patriotic song?.

I'd stand to show respect, but not sing along or put my hand over my heart. I always thought this was a safe compromise because half the time the other kids would do the same, and the witnesses didn't make a fuss over it.

JWs - Liberals or Conservatives?

where they stand is a strange mixture.

yes, they don't agree with abortion and homosexuality, they believe in the bible and wear skirts and ties to church .

but in many ways they're liberal.

The only thing the JWs are remotely liberal on are the issues of gun control. Basic JW stances are stauch conservatism than anything else, including but not limited to:

Anti abortion

Anti gay rights

Anti trans rights

Favor of traditional roles

Emphasis on religious values

Socially, they are conservative/Republican. Can't get any deeper than that because JWs are politically neutral.

Strip off the old personality

yesterday’s watchtower talked about how by becoming a jw it enabled “worldly” people to ‘strip off the old personality’ and make really significantly good changes in their life.. paragraph named 4 individuals (anonymous names of course and probably embellished tales)) sakura, ribeiro, stephen, and hans.

their lives changed for the good because they found god or because they became jw’s---right?.

so on the way home from this wt meeting, my wife commented to me how wonderful our brotherhood is and how it helps people who would otherwise be ‘lost’ n this world.

Whenever I bring up the point of "This doesn't happen with just JW's, it happens in many organizations." to my parents, they (especially my mom) get angry and says things like "That won't last, they're in false religion" or even "Who cares, if it's not Jehovah doing it, it's not worth spit." JWs can't stand to think that their precious "brotherhood" ain't all that special when it comes down to it.

A new family just moved in next door; their kids are super young. They watched excitedly as their mommy decorated the voltage box into a mini coffin with spider webs and ghosts. I thought it was the cutest thing. Unfortunately for my folks, they caught wind of this and were pissed. "The box is right by our yard. There's no fence so you cant tell who's who. What if the witnesses drive by? What will they think?"

Not "Oh, this is against our beliefs. They're in our space." Nope, just what the witnesses think. My dad was angry and ready to curse them out (despite the latest WT talking about abusive speech). My mom had a better idea: go cause a big mess at the Homeowners Association like she normally does. Then she was going to print of some literature and leave it at their porch. I know JWs were nuts, but it's really come to this?

I got the popcorn out...

Out of the world, into the Truth

for some background - i studied on & off as a child with a jehovah's witness who has been patiently working on lots of our family for more than a decade and never gave up on any of us.

as a middle-schooler and a highschooler, my love for jehovah and any association with my childhoood bible teacher... faded.

You know, I'm glad you found a sense of community and belonging with the JWs. If you feel this is the best place for lyour mental health, I say go for it.

But I want you to think about this: is this decision ruled by carefully thought out logic or by emotion? It sounds from your post that the bad choices you've made (such as taking back your ex) was because of your feelings.

Speaking from experience, emotional decisions tend to be the worst and more easily avoidable. Even though I'm very young, I now tend to put away the rose colored glasses and make a mental note of the pros and cons.

The decision to go back not only concerns your livelihood, but that of your young child. Many of JW policies will have a heavy impact as your child grows up.

I'm glad you've found happiness after your troubles, but I urge you to research and look at unbiased sources of information before you make a final decision. Really look at all the potential positives and negatives, and see for yourself if you still want in. I wish I had someone remind me of all of this before I made many of my choices.

I genuinely hope everything works out for you.

Yeah, it's not your "Christian duty". These people are just using 'Jehovah' as a crutch to control and condemn others, to make themselves look better and feel superior. Why else would they dedicate an entire search to find something on you (because confidential files are not easy to find and don't just accidentally pop up)? The fact their self-righteous is so grandiose that they think this is normal is very alarming and warrants a psych evaluation.

And they wonder why people leave. Everyone spying on each other and acting like a bunch of damn tattletales. And for what? To gain approval from people who can't wait to do the same to you the second you slip up?

there is usually a metamorphosis that takes place for a person to leave the jehovah's witness religion.

most people do not just up and go simply because they realize this could not be the truth.

it often takes time.. for those that go to meetings or engage in the ministry, will you forever continue doing these things, knowing that it is all bs?
