How often did you comment at meetings?
by LDH ini have a theory and i'd like to put it to the test here.. i would be willing to bet that the posters who post a great deal probably commented more than the average publisher at the meetings.. i know it's true in my case.. on simon's forum we have the whole range of 'publishers-' from those that comment a lot ---down to those that are just there.

I was an elder and tried to give an answer in the Watchtower study that went somewhat outside of what was printed in black and white in the paragraph, in the hopes of stimulating some thinking ability, but sure enough, Faithful Pioneer Sister Irksome always raised her hand right after my comment to repeat what was IN PRINT in the paragraph. The WT conductor always called on her right after me, of course, and always said, "Fine answer, Sister Irksome." I could always sense her staring at me with a smirk after each occasion.

Obessed with sex?
by DB innow that i have your attention....really, this is about sex.. this week's issue of newsweek contains an interesting commentary by anna quinlan, found on the last page, that deals with the catholic church's priestly sex scandal and how, for so many years, repressive teachings by the church in matters realting to human sexuality have been very counter-productive and have missed the mark badly while the church at the same time tried to cover-up cases of pedophilia among priests.
examples given include teachings like no divorce (while people suffer in bad marriages), no birth control (thus teaching that sex is not be engaged in simply for pleasure but with the purpose of procreation), and so on.
and yet in the meantime, they obviously missed the boat on the whole problem of sex abuse within their own priesthood.. while jw teachings are not as repressive, at times i have noticed a seeming obsession, if one might call it that, among some jws in matters of a sexual nature.

Of course the WTS is obsessed with sex. Probably because the GB ain't gettin' any, and so everyone else has to suffer too with all the stupid restrictions and guiltiness.
If assemblies are eliminated, maybe it will be 'cuz there's far too many attractive, dressed-to-kill females in attendance.
It's not Jehovah that makes the world go 'round, but SEX.

# of weekly meetings-down to 2?
by Quandary inwe recently had the visit of the co, during the elders meeting he addressed his concern over the decline in meeting attendance, especially for the tms & sm.
our particular congregation saw a decline of 30% from his last visit 6 months ago.
in a private conversation with him i asked if our congregation was unique in this regard and he said no, some congregations have seen a much higher percentage of decline, 50-60%.

Several years ago a tropical storm parked over Del Rio, Texas, for a few days and there was a catastrophic humungous flash flood that washed away cars, people and homes primarily in the poorer Mexican part of town. When the rain was beginning it looked very ominous and the elder conducting the school that evening was asked if it might not be better to cancel the meeting to be prepared for the worst, but his answer was, "Why should we?" Result was the catastrophic flood which also wiped out the homes of lots of the Spanish Congregation. Fanatic meeting overbalance. So stinking boring to boot!!!

He thought he was providing the true God for Ayrabs but was just uniting them under the label of his own false God, Allah. The fruitage of this can be seen in the willingness of Allah's "worshippers" to blast themselves and others into smithereens of flesh and blood and bone. The "true God", whoever the hell he is, would not condone this.
So that gives the Israelis the moral validity to do what they're doing. Mazal tov.

My girlfr and I went to the Assembly Hall today
by coult9056 in5 years removed from being inside the indianapolis assembly hall of jehovah's witnesses, 4 years from attending a meeting at the kingdom hall, this morning my girlfriend and i walked into the assembly hall.
we were taking an early morning walk in our jogging clothes in downtown indy.
she asked if there was anywhere i'd like to go.

Printing and No new people at Bethel
by thewiz ini found this out from my brother-in-law, an elder at bethel.. he says that the wtb&ts has hired outside printing compan(y|ies) to print their bound volumes only.. i do recall when i was up in ri, that a brother worked for a printing and binding company that the wtb&ts hired to print the greatest man covers.. also regarding dumping people at bethel -not true, he says.
however, they are not accepting any new people.
for individuals who want to stay they can.
