My wife was (and still is) quite moved by my decision because she has been a JW for her entire life. It's hard. It messed up with all she has been taught even though she has also started to see some light. Our daughter is still young and is not in the mood to investigate for herself yet...

I sent my disassociation letter two days ago! I couldn't stand it anymore! So many lies, the exploitation of sincere people, the ridiculous amount of rules and all this protection of pedophiles, plus the life of GB as if they were wealthy dictators! I had to slam the door on their faces! My responsibility as human being towards my community demanded this move.
I think I was a PIMO for most my life as a JW and I felt the urgent need to come out. Covid helped as well as my search for independent information and this documentary.
I hope that some may also open their eyes and that my wife and daughter might also open theirs. I'm free!

Welcome! I've also arrived here recently. And I'm trying to find my way of coping .
I can relate with you because I have also always had loads of doubts... Now, it's a bit difficult because my wife and younger daughter are still in. It's not easy because I feel really alone...
But I'm happy and free now!

Dear friends,
Thank you very much for your precious advice! I really intend to go slowly, making some questions, bringing about some topics and reading the Scriptures with her/them and letting them guide me/us.
I've always been a loving husband and father and I really intend to go on being so, giving them my support and love. That's what Christ wants us to do, right? Perhaps, with time, they will see how wrong WT is!
Christ gave us freedom and I've always loved being free! I don't want anyone to be forced to do (or not do) anything they don't want to. I cherish their freedom so that they may cherish mine (and theirs) too.

Thank you all for your comments. I'm really taking it calmly. And I'm seeing some results. She is already listening to me, something she didn't use to even want to do! Decades of indoctrination will be hard to overcome, specially when someone hasn't ever known any other reality!

Hi everybody!
I'm João, from Portugal.
I was a JW for about 30 years but I've stopped associating with them for about two years now. And, lately, I've decided to dig deep and research about this cult! Oh boy! I should have done that much earlier!
Now the problem is that my wife, who "took me into the cult", is still completely under their control, as well as our younger daughter. I'm not forcing anything or being hard on anyone, but I've been telling them about my findings. It's sad to see the extent to which WTBTSP has succeeded at controlling their followers minds!
Are there any friends struggling with the same type of situation? I guess there might be some... That's the reason why I decided to join the community.
