  I'm not sure how this maps onto quantum physics. I wouldn't go so far as to say God knows the position in momentum of all particles. I don't see a concept like superposition having any effect on God's knowledge. That is, if particles (or larger objects) can be in a superposition state, then that's just the way the universe works. In this case God would know and understand the superpositional state, as well as know when and how it would fall out of that state. Again, I don't know if this has any bearing on this topic though

  I seem to observe something similar with potentials for a human being. As a baby, a parent knows it can be many things when it grows up. The parent may want their baby to grow up to be great, but there's the possibility that they may turn into a crackhead too. Perhaps this is the extent to which God 'knows' what someone will be and do. He knows all the possible potentials and in this sense he would have 'known' that Adam and Eve could/would sin.

  I know I'm super simplifying it but there seems to be a link or relation between the micro and macro level of things.

  So are you saying that God is like an author who already knows what happens to each character of the story?

  More than that. I'm saying God knows everything that is and everything that could have been. Not just character archs in a story, but every piece of possible information, completely. He literally knows the ending from the beginning

  I'm being completely simplistic here, but it seems that everything, down to notions and concepts, resemble that quantum physics idea that everything is a wave with all potentials inherent in it...until something causes that wave to take form as a particle.

  So God creates someone, knowing ALL their possible potentials of being beforehand, but it's the actual someone that decides which potential will be fulfilled.

  A Modest proposal to solve the 1914 problem

  throughout watchtower history dates have been a problem.

  the usual solution for failed prophetic dates has been to kick the can down the road.

  this needs to be done with 1914. the generation that will never pass away is now 110 years old and therefore is past its useful life span.

  The issue is not coming up with a plausible reason or even a reason that "makes a lot of sense" for changing the 1914 doctrine. The issue is changing it at all. It will convey the extremely disappointing notion that we really don't know how close we are to "the end". And it will further push the JW religion into mainstream. This could be a good thing depending on each individual's mindset. For the old guard it's the last nail in the coffin. And by old guard I include anyone basically over 50.

  I agree mostly with this. God knows all things. The Bible describes that we are made in his image, we are God's "thoughts".

  Imagine a God existing only in himself with absolute nothingness aside from himself. Why create something like himself with no free will? He could, but if we also believe God is love, then no free will would equal no love. Love has to be expressed. And it can only be expressed thru free will.

  So God knew of the probability of sin, but chose to let love express itself out. Or not.

  Thoughts on annual meeting “new light”

  so, i finally saw the annual meeting video part 2.. this is the one with the “new light” on who might survive armageddon, vs. those who do not.. in summary, for those of you fortunate enough not to have to sit through it, it’s something like this:.

  old light: once the “great tribulation” starts, that’s it for non-jws.

  the “door of the ark” is closed.

  The word Jehovah is not in the Bible, YHWH can be translated many ways

  Any "translation" of YHWH ( ie. Jehovah or Jehova) is still YHWH. Here I am totally ok with the way JWs have interpreted where YHWH goes in the Bible. Context makes it very reasonable to conclude when YHWH is being referred to. Now, what does that name mean to two different people? That's another matter.

  here are some encouraging scriptures for the day:.

  revelation 21:2 i also saw the holy city, new jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from god and prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.. hebrews 11:10 for he (abraham) was awaiting the city having real foundations, whose designer and builder is god.. revelation 21:24 and the nations will walk by means of its light, and the kings of the earth will bring their glory into it.. revelation 22:1 and he showed me a river of water of life, clear as crystal, flowing out from the throne of god and of the lamb 2 down the middle of its main street (of the holy city).

  The problem is an age old problem...in that scriptures can be interpreted in just about any conceivable way you want. It's an exercise in futility to get into an argument about the Bible for this reason, or about spirituality in general for that matter. The people I recall that accepted the JW teachings were people that had not been associated with religion before in any significant way. And if they were very unhappy with their life I could just about guarantee that I could bring them into the JW religion.
